There may be a decent number of choices at Boston Logan’s Terminal A, but I was looking for one last seafood fix on my way out of town, and I struck out. I know that Phillips is a chain and I should’ve tempered my expectations for their«Express» offerings, but wow… what a disappointment. I started with their lobster bisque, which was nothing more that lukewarm, lobster flavored soup. Virtually nothing there. Lobster? Potato? Ummm… no not really. Just a lot of watery soup. I don’t normally do this, but I had to take it back. The girl at the counter argued with me, claiming that’s how it’s supposed to be. To her credit, she did let me exchange it for the less expensive clam chowder(though no refund was offered.) The chowder was much better, but still not great. Maybe I was spoiled by one too many trips to Legal while in Boston. After the soup, I grabbed a crab and shrimp salad sandwich, which was very small, but overall tasted ok. All in all, it wasn’t horrible — just a huge letdown after a week of amazing dining in Boston. Tip: When you see Phillips Seafood Express as you get off the escalator in Terminal A… just keep on walking…

We were pretty hungry and hard up for a lobster roll recently when we landed at Logan at the Delta terminal mid afternoon. We were able to have a decent lobster roll after deplaning, and still make it to baggage claim before our bags came down. If you want a roll the minute wheels hit ground, or one before you fly out — this is a good choice with prices that are similar to places outside the airport.

Classic Lobster Roll: who could resist? Wish I had. Hot dog bun. Piece of limp lettuce. Decent-sized pile of lobster. With zero flavor. Try something else, but skip the Classic :-( On the bright side, the service was friendly and as fast as could be expected at the airport.

Picked up a lobster roll on my way out of Boston. When I first got it, it seemed a bit small, but as I was eating it, there seemed to be a fair amount of lobster for the roll. The roll is nothing special and somewhat hides the taste of the lobster. Probably a good idea to eat the lobster with just the lettuce.

I can only speak about the lobster roll, but DONOTGOHERE. Similarly to previous reviews, it’s served in a hot dog bun and taste watery and old. Yuck definitely not worth the $ 16 bucks that they charged. I’m sorry to say it left me with a bad impression of New England cuisine as a last meal in Boston.

Are you tired of eating good food? Do you need an anchor for your wandering boat being tossed about by the mighty ocean waves? Do you want to wonder what the HELL you just put in your mouth and how the hell it could possibly be called a hush puppy? Well look no further. Phillips is just where you need to be! We came here just before getting aboard the plane that would carry us home to the Great Pacific Northwest. You know… the Great Pacific Northwest that supplies us with amazing foods and brews? Yeah, that one. The one that has made THIS type of experience astoundingly horrifying. We failed to notice the awful rating this place got on Unilocal before ordering the deep fried doorstop platter that I’m failry certain contained pork bung(also known as imitation calamari). I’m not a big fan of fried food on a good day, but I’ve never eaten fast food that gave me heartburn in the middle of the first bite. Don’t go here. Go to earl of sandwich. Go to the vending machine. Go to the nearest flight attendent and offer 20.00 for a bagel. Anything but Phillips. If my wife wasn’t so crazy about taking amazing photos for our Unilocal account, it wouldn’t look good. She didn’t capture the horror that was the flush puppy of Phillips. Do not be decieved by our wonderful photos. Part of our job is making screaming animals look like absolute angels. Each place has a purpose, right? Maybe this place could donate all of it’s food items to TSA, who could put the items in a pillow case and slam shady characters with them to take them out. Do your part to keep the airport safe. Donate these fried items, and your pillowcases, to TSA.

Clam chowder was fine, not amazing not horrible, but one thing is for sure they keep their kettle BLAZINGHOT so be careful with the soup. Had the fish n chips basket, poor excuse for fish n chips, it was more like fish sticks from a bag. I should have known better being in an airport but i gave it a shot anyways. 23 dollar meal with no drink made it quite disappointing.

I feel like I just ate at the fair. Pricey food that makes me feel disgusting. Crab Pretzel: 1 out of 5 crabs The pretzel was covered with crab cream and topped with melted cheese. The pretzel had too high of a proportion to work for this item, not to much the overpowering blandness of pretzel flavor. With such a poor pretzel foundation, this crab pretzel had no chance, any hope of flavor the crab or cheese could have brought would not have been enough. Real crab meat(not crab spread) might have saved the day. While a very interesting, unique, and intriguing dish, I do regret trying it.

It’s not gourmet but I felt like it was a reasonable deal for less than 20 bucks. I got the classic lobster roll. The lady at the counter said this was the more popular option over the other type of lobster roll. I only cared about the lobster but the lettuce and bread weren’t horrible either. It even came with a lemon and a convenient paper tray for easy disposal. Good fast, no frills meal for a fraction of the price of Legal Seafoods.

Nothing really excited me in the Boston airport as far as food goes, but the crab pretzel! Ohh… this is something different that I can’t get in San Diego. At $ 6.99 you might think the price is a little steep, but it was REAL crab. The pretzel bread was soft and chewy, like a pretzel should be. The crab(in the middle of the pretzel) was ample and very sweet. Ahh… sooo good! It was the perfect small dinner before heading on the plane!

I’m going to give it 3 stars and give myself 1 star for stupidity. Who orders a Lobster roll in an airport that isn’t a moron? I think it was around 20 bucks and yes it was airport quality which means it is slight above hospital food. There wasn’t technically anything wrong with the sandwich but it was small and if I closed my eyes I would have sworn I’d eaten tuna fish. Sometimes hurrying through the airport can make you do really dumb things.

There’s not a lot of good food in Terminal A at Logan Airport. Philips Seafood Express is the best compromise available — it’s fairly fast, and the food is pretty good for fried fast-food seafood. On various visits I’ve had fish & chips, the crab-cake sandwich, and their New England(white) clam chowder. The chowder was quite good, the crab-cake a bit mushy but tasty, the fish(«cod») just fine. Their fries were standard and not great. But you really can’t get away from that fried food greasy feeling — their non-fried items just don’t look that great. And for the privilege of getting such food after going through security, I usually end up spending $ 14-$ 18, which isn’t cheap. So Philips is my food provider of choice in Terminal A, but I’m not excited about it, and would gladly try something new if better options were available.

Nothing spectacular but the service is friendly and the fish and chips hit the spot before my flight home. The coleslaw tasted fresh and the fried fish was served steaming hot with tarter sauce and a lemon wedge. This place is worth checking out if you’re not in the mood for burgers or pizza.

I was in the mood for a final lobster roll and this is not the place for it. WTH is wrong with ppl. They must think they can pass cheap garbage on to foodies who know a thing or two about good and bad grub. This was horrible in my opinion. I saw the bag of buns too just because the manager thought I’d like to see them(weird). I don’t think potato flour made it a special roll. It was a hotdog bun period. Who are they fooling. All I ate was the lobster meat and left the rest. I bought a beer(which was okay-nothing to write home about) and the CLAMCHOWDER was horrible. The chowder was way too soupy! Liquid with some floaties but it definitely was no chowder and the small cost me $ 6.50. the beer was the same so my bill was just over $ 30. I am the sucker! I promise you I will never EVER give these folks another dime. I’ll walk by like they don’t even exist. Enjoy!

Like everyone else, I found myself in terminal A of Boston’s Logan airport, with time to eat and a few choices. As well, my gate was not near Legal Seafood, which is apparently a must try. A quick look about narrowed my choices to this place or a Fuddruckers, and I didn’t feel like a burger. In fact, I specifically felt like having one more bowl of clam chowder before I flew back to the land of, yuck, grits. For an airport fast food station, I thought I got what I paid for here. Yes, it is more expensive than going to most of the other places, but I really enjoyed this meal. The chowder was decent, at least meeting expectations for a counter service place. I supplemented my soup with their Thai crab spring rolls, which WAY exceeded expectations from the counter. This also came with some waffle fries, decently cooked and fair to middlin’, if you will. As for service, I must have had other employees than some of the other reviewers. They were friendly, and appreciated my business on a Saturday afternoon. In addition, my time was short, and I appreciated their quickness and efficiency while still seeing them prepare my food fresh. For fried food, I found it to be satisfyingly low on the grease factor, and while this may not be a fine dining destination, I would return again without question. Maybe to try that lobster roll, as that thing sounds delicious.

3 stars. Expensive for fast food, even at the airport. The lobster roll is good($ 15.95 ala carte). Nice chunks of lobster mixed in a light mayo base, placed in a toasted soft roll with lettuce. Pretty simple, really. Waffle fries are ok($ 2.75). It’s a fairly large order. If you like ketchup with your fries you’ll have to open LOTS of those little, portion-control ketchup packs. Normal fountain drinks plus a selection of beers.

Decent for airport food, everything was crispy, hot, not too greasy. I had the seafood sampler, the butterfly shrimp were decent. The calimari was sorta heavily breaded, not my favorite method of prep, but it wasn’t so rough. I might send it back at a decent restaurant, though. The waffle fries were so good that I ate a few, although I usually avoid potatoes(excess carbs and pesticides). The crispy spring rolls were decent, but nothing special, the fact that I’m not a spring roll fan to begin with might temper your opinion of my opinion. They only gave me one serving of seafood cocktail sauce, when I could have used two. But they gave me a container of Thai type red pepper sauce(I guess for the spring rolls). Next time I’m stuck in this part of Logan Airport, I would have no problem eating here. Or across the way at Fudd Drucker’s Lite.

Quick service, and very friendly, but what I got had something to be desired. The food was greasy, and not super filling, but the crab cakes were pretty good. if they have more french frits I would at least feel like I was getting a good deal. However, the calamari looked amazing, so maybe I will be going back.

I have had the fish sandwich here before however, Unilocal wasn’t even around at the time and I don’t remember what it was like. I really wanted something in the seafood cuisine and since our gate was not by Legal Seafood, I thought that I would give Phillips a try. The pictures of course look better than the actual food served. Nothing surprising there. I ordered the Lobster Bisque first to eat while I waited for the sampler platter, which sounded pretty good since the crab and lobster wrap ready and waiting in the cooler(for who knows how long) didn’t look nearly as good as, you guessed it… the picture. First smell and sight were pleasing on the bisque front. Not especially hot straight from the cup although perfect for eating immediately. Creamy texture, nice flavor and decent seasoning. Not too spicy. Barely any chunks of lobster so I have had better. I think that I would possibly order this again if I were on this side of the airport again. As far as the platter goes, I wasn’t even paying attention that everything that was on it was fried. I found the entire dish to be a bit greasy albeit tender and tasty. The calamari was the most tender I’ve had since I was in Zurich at a Portuguese restaurant although the pieces were no larger than a quarter at Phillips Seafood Express. They were not too spicy and didn’t actually need the seafood sauce although I liked it with also. The basket included 6 large butterflied whole shrimp and were actually the best thing on the plate. Also tender with a crispy breading. The crab and shrimp egg rolls actually lacked flavor with a mushy center. I would have enjoyed then more if there were chunks of meat. They were crispy though and not overdone. The sauce that came with those for dunking was a little spicy for me. A sweet sauce with quite a kick. All in all, the bisque and the shrimp is something that I think I may get again. According to Jeff F.‘s review, if you really would like to try the Lobster Roll, perhaps you can ask to have the bun toasted and mayo on the side?

I’ve been walking by Phillips for the last couple of years when I have the misfortune of flying through Terminal A instead of Terminal C. Gave it a try today and I’m not sure which sucked more the service or mayo drenched untoasted Lobster Roll. Either way — take a pass here.
