Let me start by saying if I were rating the burgers, fresh cut or fries I would give this place 5 stars. Love the bar area… doesn’t feel like many of the old fogey bats in the Southtowns. Great beer on tap usually. I’m taking 2 stars off and bringing this down to a 3 star review because the music is sooo freaking LOUD in the evening in the bar area. And we like to eat at the bar. SO… we are not old fogey’s but we do avoid coming here when we don’t want our heads to pound. Otherwise we love this place, people, food and atmosphere. Nice job American Grille. Now just turn the music down a couple of notches and you’ll get lots more bar business! :-)

I had a cheeseburger they left the plastic on the cheese. How does this happen? Took one bit and had a mouth full of plastic. Been there three times the food is bad. The bar is great they make a good drink everyone that works there is nice. Just don’t eat the food. It may kill you.

I am never in the Southtowns but if I were, I would go here again. I don’t usually go to sports bars to watch games but, if I were to, I’d choose this place. They have a real nice set-up here: a long bar with plenty of TVs, additional bar area seating, two semi private dining areas just off the main bar room, and a private banquet room in back. Everything is very clean and in good condition. The beer selection is impressive! There is a separate menu just for bottled beers and a smaller list for those on tap. I tried the Caramel Apple Cuvee and enjoyed it very much. The bartender was happy to give us small tastes to help us choose from the vast selection. A friend ordered the quesadillas and I, the loaded fries. We both added pulled pork. After eating a little bit of mine I realized that the pulled pork was missing. I was quite promptly brought a brand new order of fries with the pulled pork. Really fantastic service; very friendly. Everyone behind the bar seemed to be genuinely enjoying their job. The food was good and fairly priced. Simply no complaints.

There are few thing about a restaurant that piss me off, waiting two hours for my meal and being told four times it will be out in 10 to 15 min is one of them. Than not even eating anything because after two hours of waiting we gave up and left to find food. And I understand that you didn’t prepare for the 5k inflatable race to bring in that much business but turning us away would have been the right thing to do not keep us waiting with out even the offer off an appetizer or one refill on any of our drinks!

Always good. You won’t go wrong with a burger here, or a salad, or the pulled pork. The atmosphere is good, and the service is generally good. Reasonably priced.

I don’t get to that many places in the Buffalo area even though I work out here because we aren’t allowed to leave the school to go eat lunch very often. On days we don’t have students we usually will go out and eat and this is usually our go to spot. They have phenomenal burgers, and all other food I have tried is usually excellent. They have vinegar to put on fries(which is a huge plus in my mind — not many places have this). The fries are great too. The bar area is huge and there is a nice outside area as well. I have only been during lunch time so I can’t speak to anything outside of there. The staff is always excellent as well.

We had a great experience at American Grille last night. Decided to come so I could get my free surf and turf birthday dinner(they allow you 3 days after your birthday to come and enjoy your free meal). The filet was the perfect size, and the shrimp was coated in a lemony/garlic butter sauce which was delicious. I was also happy to see a good craft beer selection on tap(we got the Great Lakes Christmas Ale, and the Founders Oatmeal Stout). It was really refreshing to have a polite, down to earth waitress as well… we have been to many restaurants lately where the servers just don’t seem interested, but this was definitely not the case last night! Excited to come back and check out their patio in the warmer months.

A nice and easygoing place. Very simple, laid back, country, etc. We had gone during the dead hour, but every time we drive past it during the evening they get very crowded, so it is best to keep that in mind. Their Cosmos blow your mind! A very unusual and pleasant taste. The service is friendly and attentive, and the place is cozy. For an appetizer we got shrimp and andouille sausage on a bed of rice, and it was quite nice. And for the main course we got the Lincoln burger with a fried egg on top, and it was very juicy… The fries were nothing special, but fine. It’s one of those places you go to have an all-American meal without any pretensions. We will definitely be back.

My wife and I went to American Grille in East Aurora, NY for Valentine’s Day. The restaurant was very nice, the food was very good, the prices were okay, the service was NOT good. We waited twenty minutes after we were seated before the waiter came to take our drink order. In a busy restaurant that would normally not bother me but they were not that busy. It wasn’t just our waiter, we noticed another table waiting just as long for their waitress to show up. I’ll probably give American Grille another shot but two strikes and you’re out.

I fully believe giving a place a couple of chances to make up for their mistakes. Specially when a restaurant is so new. The first time we attempted to order take out from American Grille. We were hung up on three times before finally getting through to place our order. Half way through the order we were told they switched over to the late night menu, which is fine, but it wasn’t listed anywhere for us to see. Needless to say we ordered from another place down the street. The next time we decided to go in on a Friday night calling ahead to see what the wait would be seeing we had two young children. They assured us no wait, which we should have known better it was a Friday night, and that we should come right in. We arrived where we were greeted by the hostess who informed us there was an HOUR wait! My wife said she just called and they assured us no wait and to come right in. The girl looked like a deer in headlights offering up no explanation so we ended up walking out hungry and angry. Found out later that they were having phone issues and one of the kitchen staff had answered the phone to tell us to come right in. Maybe some of that renovation money should have gone into a phone system instead of the $ 9 special at Walmart. The third attempt was late night just my wife and I. I knew the cook so he made us up some food even though it was later at night and they seemed like they wanted to close. Roast beef on weck and some wings. Fresh cut fries were nice and crisp and seasoned very nicely. All good but you’re in Buffalo and if these two menu items aren’t good you won’t survive a week. The final straw for us is when my wife and I just went in on an off day for dinner. Finally we were able to try it out. Our uneducated waitress never told us the specials and had to read off the descriptions on the menu when we asked her what something was. I asked if they had any Flying Bison on tap, knowing full well they had Rusty Chain on tap and Aviator Red in bottles from my prior visit, and surprisingly she said no. I ordered a Blue Light and after she brought it to me I walked over to the bar to se if maybe they were out of Flying Bison, but nope it was still on tap and in bottles. Oh well. The dinner was so lack luster and over priced, and the service was so horrible that we had it with American Grille. Maybe we will go back in a couple years, but with so many fine restaurants in the East Aurora area I doubt it.

My boyfriend and I went here because we didn’t have 45 minutes to wait for seats at Bar Bill. We frequent Bar Bill when we are home for the holidays. This place is very nice and roomy. The bar is really nice an spacious. There are several big tables that will accommodate almost any size group. We ordered wings and beef on weck like we always do at Bar Bill. The wings are comparable — nice and crispy. The roast beef is sliced thicker than they do at Bar Bill but was really good. We will definitely go again when we are in town.

Service was very friendly. Attractive modern décor. I had a rueben sandwich, very good quality ingredients and some of the best, REAL french fries around. I am a french fry snob. My wife had a sliced beef tenderloin dinner that was outstanding. When I tasted the beef, I wished I had ordered it too! It was that good. We’ll be back!

My husband and I had a great dinner here on a Sunday night in East Aurora, after seeing the Bills/Jets game at the stadium(Jets lost miserably, but that’s another review…). The bar was lively when we arrived around 7pm with late-game watchers, but we sat in a quieter side room. For $ 35 we had a great dinner for two. The French onion soup(complete with«weck» roll under the cheese) was great. The cheese was tangy and delish — gruyère? He had the meatloaf sandwich which was huge and tasty, and side of perfectly baked Mac n Cheese. I had the Mediterranean Chicken which was really good but just a little too olive-y for me(even though I got it without the olives). Good overall though. Side of potatoes(kinda like home fries) were crunchy, seasoned well, and the highlight of my plate. Our server was Sam. She quick, polite, and efficient — really great. Only bad part was that side room we were in had not the best vibe. Kind of flat — no vibe really. And it had a carpet that was pretty dirty but nothing I can’t look past for the tasty food and great service!

Came here on a Friday evening with a group of friends for dinner. Disappointingly they would not accept reservations, so we had to wait upon arrival. From the time the first guests arrived to the time we were seated was approximately 35 – 40 minutes. We had a larger group, and only one table would seat all of us, so we probably waited longer than the average customers. It would be nice if they accepted reservations, especially for a larger group of people that are hard to seat together. Fortunately, they have a pretty big outdoor patio, with two tables centered with small fire pits, a higher bar table, and a couple other standard tables. Unfortunately, we lived in Buffalo and wouldn’t you know that in the(almost) middle of June it was barley 60 degrees out and misting/raining on and off. Had it been a gorgeous, sunny, 80 degree evening our 40 minute(cold) wait probably wouldn’t have seemed so long and been more enjoyable. Upon being seated, our waiter checked to see if anyone needed another beverage or water since we already had our drinks. He never went over the specials with us, except mentioned, «the menu with tonight’s specials is down there». When he returned one of my friends asked what kind of soup they had for the day. Hastily he replied with, «It’s on the specials menu!» She/we were a little thrown off by his answer, seeing as though he NEVER went over/reviewed/read/discussed the specials for the evening with us. Majority of the group ordered burgers. Many ordered the«Lincoln», which consisted of a house Angus beef burger topped with apple wood smoked bacon, aged cheddar, and fried egg. This did not tickle my fancy whatsoever so I did not try it; however the people that ordered it seemed to enjoy it. Another had the«Eisenhower», which was a house Angus beef burger topped with stuffed banana peppers and a tangy fontinella cheese. This received a thumbs up as well. Another friend had a side of the macaroni and cheese and thought it was delicious. I had the Southwestern Chicken Salad, which consisted of baby spinach, BBQ chicken, bacon, Monterey jack and cheddar cheese, tomatoes, red onion, black beans, roasted corn, black olives, and salsa ranch dressing. It did not state on the menu, but when I received it, it was a deconstructed salad. Everything was separated, uncut, not mixed together. It was ok. All in all, we had a good time. I would go back on a night when the weather is nicer and we could enjoy the outdoor patio.

Best Burger in Town! I’ve been told a blend of beef brisket, chuck etc. makes the flavor so delicious. The Kennedy burger is my favorite… and who doesn’t love fresh cut fries? Every restaurant with fries on the menu should be forced by law to make them fresh! I’m not sure what planet the guy from Holland is on??? Hummus appetizer??? The name is American GRILLE… Grilled hummus… hmmm???

A facebook friend posted about a free birthday surf n turf at the American Grille… so I was intrigued. I happen to LOVE finding free birthday deals to help me celebrate my birthMONTH(rather than day.) If you friend them on facebook you can become part of their birthday club and they offer you a free meal with purchase of another entrée.(which, sidenote, is a good idea because I just recently saw that they hit 5,000 fans and they’ve only been open for a couple of years.) The hubs and I braved the snow and headed out to East Aurora the day after my actual birthday(keep in mind the coupon has date restrictions.) I was extremely pleased with the whole setup. The restaurant is sort of located in the middle of nowhere. but the atmosphere inside the bar is pretty awesome(and a little unexpected, i’d say.) There was a hockey game on when we were there… which drew quite a crowd at the bar. The dining area had big windows along the wall so even if you were seated you could still see the game. The food was fabulous… I had the surf n turf(filet and shrimp) and we shared a side of mac n cheese(also pretty delicious!) And I had dessert, too. The service was great… I overheard our waitress chatting it up with a few people about her day job(ski instructor) and she was nothing short of personable with us as well. I’d absolutely recommend taking them up on their free birthday meal! It’s worth the trip out there.

A typical Buffalo restaurant that serves your traditional Buffalo dishes at great prices. No one in our party ventured away from sandwiches and apps, but everyone was really impressed. I ordered the grilled chicken breast sandwich, cajun style with some crumbly blue. Not the most original sandwich in the world — but well executed and just was I was looking for. Came with a «healthy» portion of fries(is any portion of fries healthy?) which the rest of my party thoroughly enjoyed. Hubby had the chicken quesadilla — an above average showing with a layer of melted cheese on top in addition to inside the quesadilla with the other tasty ingredients. Mom ordered the chicken fingers, and they made me realize why they’re called«fingers.» Typically, you’d expect the pounded out breast coated in chicken-parm-like breading. These were better… actual finger-like strips of chicken breast/tenderloin, coated in a crunchy, bumpy breading(sorry, that’s the best way for me to describe it!) which had a little kick and came with hot sauce and blue cheese for dippin’. I thought that was a good idea, it kept the fingers from getting soggy AND our fingers from getting too messy. Dad had a burger which he enjoyed just as much. It was clear that all the food we had that evening was fresh, prepared in house, and of a higher-than-average quality. We had ordered at the bar so didn’t have a traditional service experience, but the bartenders were friendly, helpful, and attentive. All in all, my dish, hubby’s dish, his beer, and my club soda came to(drum roll) only $ 26!!! This is the sort of place that makes me miss the Southtowns, and the sort of place I’m glad to see more of down there lately. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a basic but tasty and inexpensive meal in the area.

House-made almond brioche bread French toast with fresh berries and REAL maple syrup! Add terrific(and hot enough) coffee that keeps on coming, friendly service, and a warm and inviting atmosphere. Now that’s my kind of brunch! Mini muffins were even brought to the table with the coffee while the two of us waited for our entrees. YUM! My dining companion’s pancakes were just as good as my French toast. Another«special of the day», they were stuffed with fresh blueberries, cranberries, walnuts, and dates… and yet remained as fluffy as can be. I was happy to share tastes as I tried to decide which item I preferred. I think mine won by a hair because of the teeny slivers of orange zest. Sometimes it’s the little things. Happy… HAPPY morning!

The menu here is unfortunately lacking in any sort of originality or inventiveness. And that might be ok if the execution was flawless, but it’s not. A heavily burger-focused menu and certainly trying to tap into the gourmet burger craze is fine, but you’ll find all the standard choices without any added flair. The best dish was probably the hummus appetizer platter. Most everyone in the party on this and a previous trip complained about the entirely bland side dishes, like unseasoned plain white rice and steamed broccoli. Even the daily specials were bland — fish fry, baked Italian haddock, and a burger with a slice of avocado. I suppose the prices are reasonable for what you get, but without some menu revisions or a serious bump up in quality, there are better, cheaper places for this type of cuisine.
