Very good. Its little small German Restaurant on corner of Dodge Road and New Road, right off of North French Road in Amherst. I have the German Flight Beers. For meal two German sausages with sweet and sour red cabbage and potatoes pancake. The Apple strudel was out this world. Every thing is home made. Got the same menu for lunch but little cheaper.

My Wife and I went a few months ago and I was very impressed. My only reason for 4 instead of 5 stars was the somewhat lackluster beer selection. Besides that, the staff was amazing, and the ambiance was perfect for a nice date.

I’ve been craving spätzle for months, especially since the last German restaurant I went to didn’t have it, so I was very excited to go to Schnitzel and Co. tonight! The environment was positive and energetic because the staff were so friendly and welcoming. Our waitress was lots of fun to talk to! The food was fantastic! The meals came with two half loafs of bread with a sweetened butter. We started with the Frikadellen which was four potato pancakes each topped with a meatball and gravy and had a flight of four German beers. The gravy on the appetizer tasted more like a mushroom gravy so that dish just wasn’t for me. I did enjoy the meatball and potato pancake on there. For my entrée, I ordered the Best & Wurst combo including the jäger schnitzel(but with the chicken gravy since I don’t like mushrooms), weisswurst, bratwurst(my favorite of the two I ordered), potato pancakes and spätzle. They brought me the brussel sprouts instead of the spätzle but they were quick to bring me a side order of spätzle and told me to enjoy the brussel sprouts as well! They were delicious! I dined with my parents so I convinced my mom to order the chicken pretzel crusted schnitzel with the spätzle Mac and cheese that was on special that night. My mom was afraid to order the Mac and cheese so I told her I would share my regular spätzle with. She ended up liking her Mac and cheese spätzle the best! We finished off the meal with fried dough and some apple dessert. I’m never one to order dessert but the food was so good I couldn’t resist. I found myself looking at what others ordered the entire night so I am already ready to go back and order different food to try! I look forward to ordering the beer cheese fondue next time.

After passing by this restaurant for a couple years on my way to my childhood home, I convinced my parents to come here on a Friday night around 7. The place was pretty packed, especially at the bar, but we managed to get their last open table! We were greeted by an enthusiastic host, who I presume is the owner or at least manager of the restaurant. Once seated we were quickly waited on, but that’s the last time all night I would describe any part of our meal to be «quick». Two of us ordered draft beers and they took over 20 minutes to come out. Mind you, this restaurant is not that large, and it was quite a while to wait for some draft beers. We all decided to order variations of schnitzel and sausages. I would not recommend this restaurant if you’re trying to be healthy, as there are maybe 2 «healthy» selections, and both are salads. Once our meal came out, about an hour later, everything was delicious. The schnitzels were cooked perfectly, and the sides of spaetzel, potato pancakes, Brussels sprouts, etc. were all delicious and tasted at least semi-authentic. I would have absolutely loved this place if it wasn’t for the long waits for drinks and our food. I would come back, as our meal for 3, including drinks, came out to around $ 50. We found our bill to be a fair price and are looking forward to giving this place another try.

I walked in and could smell the distinct smell of vinegar… I knew right then that I was going to like it here. The food was outstanding. I had the Reuben rolls and soft pretzels for appetizers. Out of this world on both accounts. My main entrée was a crispy chicken with red cabbage and German potato salad. Wow! Just like my grandma made!!! For dessert I had a delicious raspberry swiss cake roll. Not too sweet, but so yummy. I liked the homey atmosphere of the place; I think i counted twelve tables in the whole place so reservations are a must!

One word. Pathetic. the décor is so contrived. the lighting is reminiscent of a middle school classroom. the owner constantly walking around ‘checking how everything is”, quite tacky and bothersome. out of certain tap beers., the ones we wanted to try. small portions. hefty price. canned peaches for desert, in a tiny scoop of peach cobbler… puleease. Apple cobbler in October… ugg. and this was during Restaurant Week, when an establishment is trying to get new customers? I really wish I would have said«No. This dinner is terrible and I want to return it and leave and go have some Chinese food !» to the waitress who must have asked five times.“How is everything?“ Lastly, If I hear the phrase«No Problem» one more time in a restaurant, I will utterly blow my stack! Tacky, unpolished, just plain bad. If I could rate ZERO stars I would. If you want good Austrian/German food fry Danos Heuriger on Seneca Lake!

Loved this place — definitely better than the German restaurant in my hometown(Raleigh/Durham NC area)! I was traveling for business and staying in Amherst and found this German restaurant on Unilocal.I arrived around 8pm on a Wednesday evening and sat at the bar. Great selection of beers, and I had the German sampler, which was a great way to sample several different beers. Jim was an excellent bartender and very attentive server — he was awesome and made this a great experience. Food came out very quickly(I had the pretzels for the appetizer, and the perch schnitzel with spaetzle and sweet potato pancakes for dinner). Highly recommend this restaurant, particularly if you’re looking to German cuisine! Prices were also pretty good(particularly compared to what I am used to).

Not much to look at from outside, but the décor and ambience inside was surprisingly clean and well-designed. As for the food, I must say everything I ordered was good. My only critique is that it took a long time to get my orders. Oh, I ordered the pretzel and chicken schnitzel… yum!

I am very surprised that this place is rated so highly. When we came there today for dinner it was raining outside and in the middle of the restaurant the water was coming down the ceiling, the roof was leaking very bad and it smelled pretty bad too. It smelled like mold! First I wanted to leave but then I decided to stay and give it another chance. The service was good and food came out fast. However, the food was ok nothing special. They should have closed the door until the roof is fixed. I hope they fix it soon because it’s a law suit waiting to happen.

LOVED this place. Great vibe great ambiance. I would definitely come back again the next time I visit Buffalo. Our waitress was super nice and pointed out other places to eat and see. The beer sampler was pretty dang good to. I don’t have anything bad to say!

Just visited the restaurant for the first time tonight for my birthday dinner and I was greatly impressed. My family and I all really enjoyed our food and the cheery atmosphere(it did get a little loud at times, but that’s to be expected in a smaller establishment). I actually filled up on appetizers but since those were incredible(especially the pretzels), I wasn’t too disappointed. My entrée was chicken schnitzel with potato pancakes and fingerling dumplings. The potato pancakes were especially yummy(lecker, if you want to go full Deutsch). Again, I had to bring back a lot of leftovers. Since it was my birthday, they were especially thoughtful to offer me dessert on the house and they even let me take it home because I was so stuffed! I can honestly say our waitress, Kelly, was the best one I think I’ve ever had. I’m not just saying that because she thought it was my 20th birthday instead of my 27th. I highly recommend this place!

If they sold rare Japanese dogs, they’d be Shitsu & Co. But then they’d be a Puppy Mill. And nobody wants a Puppy Mill. Except for maybe Michael Vick. And even he is supposedly kind of reformed now. They’re even thinking of renaming Philadelphia«The City Of Canine Love.» What do you mean he isn’t on the Eagles anymore? Crap. Never mind. Moving on. What to get: Definitely the Jäger Schnitzel What else: Everything on the menu is pretty good Any more info for me?: Nein! What time do they close?: Nein! If I say sixty, you say: Nein! If it was based in Philly and run by Amish Bakers, would it be «Pretzel & Co?» If the local University used it for their catering, would it then be «Drexel & Co?» I came here within the last week for the first time, and I was generally very impressed, as the five star rating suggests. However, I can’t say they’re one of my fave places in Buffalo, and here is why: (1) The prices are about twice as high as they should be(same problem as Black Forest Adler) (2) The portions are not as big as I expected(especially of the Spaetzle) (3) The waitress tried to talk me into a substitution that would have cost more (4) The sausages were a bit bland and not particularly wonderful If Weird Al owned this place, it’s be «Spatula & Co.» It’s an in-joke. I didn’t get it so the Rochester Unilocalers made fun of me. Now let me clarify, on(2) that while Black Forest Adler has very high prices too, their portions are enormous. As for Polish Villa, they serve similar(Polish style instead of German though) food for much lower prices with huge portions. So if I’m comparing directly to those and including price and portions size, S & C would get a 3, not a 5. In particular, the Schnitzel wasn’t big enough(it’s my fave part!), and the portion of Spaetzle may as well have not even been on the plate. On(3) I wanted to order things a certain way, and she encouraged me to flip them around which would have cost several dollars more. However I don’t think that’s why she said it. It was just easier for her to key it into the order screen if she did it her way(but more expensive for us). She did it my way, in the end, but we had to insist. On(4) the Mettwurst(red smoked sausage) was good, a lot like a Polish. The Brat was not great, and I wish we’d have ordered the white Bavarian parsley sausage(Weisswurst) instead which was our first instinct, just to try it. I heard that the Knockwurst is just like a hot dog, lol. If it was based south of the Rio Grande, would it be «Mexi & Co»? Or if a cartoon character owned it back in the 60s, then maybe«Jetson & Co.» And here are the reasons why I did like it. — The waitress was fairly friendly and the owner checked on us a few times. — Fantastic décor — The Schnitzel is absolutely delicious with thick pork meat and yummy gravy. It’s the perfect Schnitzel. It’s better than the ones I had in Europe, and better than Black Forest Adler. If not for this Schnitzel’s excellence, I would have given this place lower than a 5. — The smoked sausage — Mettwurst — was pretty good. — The German Potato Salad was pretty good and the loaded Potato Pancakes were absolutely excellent, although it’s $ 1.50 extra if you want them loaded. The Spaetzle tasted good but there wasn’t nearly enough of it. The Adler Spaetzle was off the charts good. — It was a nice day out with a good friend and for that reason it’s a lovely memory. If a bird owned it, it’d be «Kestrel & Company.» That would be fun. A little side story: — My friend from George Mason University(who won’t remember me since she didn’t like me much, lol) said her Dad owned Café Banchetti and Banchetti by Rizzo… and guess what. Rizzo is the guy that opened this place! Apparently he’s half German/Swiss/Austrian and so he wanted to tap into the«other half of his heritage». I thought this might be a mistake since it’s not easy to cook good German food but he does a *wonderful* job of it. And if my German female friends Sharon, Cora, Barb, Zelina and Rosie(last names withheld for protection) came here, then it would be especially«Sexy & Company». I’m not sure what it is about German girls, but you need to check them out.(Swoon). The interesting part is that I was 400 miles from home at a University where I didn’t know anyone and 95% of the students were from Virginia. And amazingly, I run into this girl whose Dad owns a restaurant that is literally within walking distance of my house in the distant suburbs of West Amherst(I lived in Looney Acres at the time). The odds were spectacularly low, especially as she was the only WNY-based person I met in my entire 3 years at GMU, notwithstanding my friend from Webster near Rochester. And if you come here late-night and drunk, well they’ll be closed — but if they happen to be open, then maybe you can cause it to be renamed«Sh*tfaced & Co.»

We went here for dinner last night and we can’t stop talking about how good it was! From the wonderful wait staff to the great german beer list, you really can’t go wrong! The food is everything you expect from traditional german food, but they have mixed it up by adding a nice bistro/fresh flare. The sides are all fresh and wonderful! We all loved the potato pancakes and the cabbage. The spatzzel was the only side we weren’t blown away by, but it was still really good just thicker noodles then we were use to. They start you off with complimentary pretzel bread, that is out of this world! You don’t even need the honey butter to go along with it. Next is a good selection of appetizers and beer. We had the rueben fritters and loved them. They were like arancini balls met a Reuben, feel in love and spawned these crispy little balls of goodness. All of the main courses were also delicious and we can’t wait to come back and try more. Finally if you go here do not skip desert. Their apple pastry is one of the best I have ever had. It was warm and sweet without being too rich. Next time you are looking for a great dinner that’s a little out of the ordinary give this place a try. We will definitely becoming regulars here!

Great, small but very nice. Greeted and seated well. Server Kim was great, there when we need her, but not a bug. Had 20.15 specials. See photos. Everything was great, good portions, great taste. Need to come back for the sausages and more potatoe pancakes, can I have some for breakfast. I will be back, you should try it out.

I must admit, I might be a bit biased for two reasons — they serve delicious German beer, and bread with honey butter. There you go, I confessed! I discovered this place by accident as my original dinner place was packed and I was super hungry. And truth be told, I loved Schnitzel’s so much that I went back the next night for more! Friday nights are jam packed but the atmosphere is fun and relaxed. I ate at the bar the first time and had the chicken schnitzel. It was a great and safe first dish. The next night, I had the best and wurst combo and it was awesome! My favorite sides are the brussels sprouts and sweet potato pancakes. I had the german chocolate cake for dessert and it was great. Beer-wise, I love the options of flights because I’m a light weight that likes to try and sample everything so their flights of German beer was perfect! Service was great– the bar tenders were friendly and helpful when I couldn’t figure out what’s what on the menu and kept the drinks coming along. The waitresses and the owner or manager even stopped by to ask if everything was good. Would definitely go again.

Went here with my grandma because it was convenient to her new apartment. I haven’t been that impressed with other German restaurants in the area, and Schnitzel & Co is owned by an Italian so my hopes weren’t very high, but I was very pleasantly surprised. The décor has been German’d up but will still look familiar to anyone who has eaten at Rizzo’s in Tonawanda. Same cozy semi-European feel. I tried the chicken schnitzel and wow. Chicken was tender and cooked perfectly, with a nice crisp breading and gravy that complemented without being overpowering. Had to try a potato pancake on the side and it was great. I also had the brussels sprouts, which were brussels sprouts, and my grandma the sweet and sour cabbage, which was great. Beer selection was great and I was able to find things I haven’t seen since Germany. Service was good although the food took several eternities to come out of the kitchen. My grandma and I both agreed that a long wait is acceptable when the food is great, and in this case it was more than worth the wait. Definitely recommended.

I didn’t know it, but this restaurant was made for me. I was immediately greeted by Jim, the bartender, who made sure I wasn’t thirsty at all. They had a real good beer list and in the heart of Oktoberfest season, that is pretty important! I was impressed with the menu — it has your standard German fare. They even have a gluten-free menu. There wasn’t a long wait for the entrée and everything was evenly priced. I ended up getting the Best & Wurst plate. It was the best way to canvas the menu. I had enough to eat leftovers, which was just as good! I even thought about going there the next day for lunch!

5 stars for atmosphere. The gorgeous wrap-around bar is separated from the seating area, which I always appreciate. The dining area has a fireplace and it’s cozy enough so that every table is in relative proximity to the fire. 5 stars for service. They often have a manager or assistant manager on the floor making sure everything is running smoothly. 4 stars for beer. For the ‘burbs, they have a fairly good beer selection. Obviously, they focus on German and English beers(this is a German restaurant after all). I had a Spaten Dunkel, one of my favorite beers that I can’t find many places. They even offer flights of beer for only $ 8. 3 stars for the food. The sauerkraut soup was to die for. If you like Reuben sandwiches, you must order this soup. It is incredible! I’m not usually into soup because I find broth boring, but this was full of sauerkraut and chunks of corned beef. I couldn’t help myself. Their«pretzel» bread is delicious. You will get a few slices with honey butter before the meal arrives. It’s worth getting full on! For my entrée, I had the chicken schnitzel. To be fair, I’m simply not a fried-food kind of gal. It just doesn’t do it for me. So while some people probably love the schnitzel here, it’s just not my thing. It was tasty and well made and despite being fried it was not greasy at all. With the schnitzel, you select two sides from a long list of German side dishes. I went with the sweet and sour cabbage(delish) and the potato pancakes(nice and crunchy, but no real flavor). I sampled my mom’s caramelized brussel sprouts which were absolutely heavenly. I would order those next time. Despite the fact that I’m not into fried food, I would return and order something else. I bet their pot roast is great. Definitely worth a visit. It’s a great restaurant that is clearly focused on delivering a good dining experience.

My Mom and I had been out all day shopping and were hungry. We were wracking our brains trying to think of where to eat when suddenly… Schnitzel & Co came up! Done! Decision made. We pulled up around 6:15pm. No vacant parking spaces, but plenty of room to squeeze in on the side. Walked through an icy parking lot in and were greeted by a beautiful bar and friendly bartender. Nice, helpful hostess came by to seat us. No seats open in the dining room but one table left in the bar area. Great! The menu here has some really thoughtful items on it. There’s nearly something for everyone. Even if you’re not a fan of German food. Mom and I ordered the beer & cheese fondue. She ordered a Leinenkugel(shandy). The fondue was good. Tasty cheese mixture. 3 different bread pieces to dip, along with broccoli and green apple. One bread was a pretzel roll and it was AWESOME. Here’s what I’d change about this appetizer: Charge an extra dollar, lose the broccoli and one of the breads(either the rye or pumpernickel), double the amount of pretzel roll, and slice up a wurst. That would have been awesome! Sample the wurst, more delicious pretzel roll, and the apple. I ordered the Chicken Schnitzel with potato pancakes and brussel sprouts. Mom had the pot roast(sauerbraten) sandwich with German potato salad. My chicken schnitzel was AMAZING. Crispy, not greasy at all. Fontina cheese sauce was the perfect amount and was really tasty. Chicken was very tender. Sprouts were tasty too, but not exceptional. Just good. Potato pancakes were awesome. Again, not greasy at all! I liked the schnitzel 1000 times better here than at Scharf’s but I like Scharf’s pancakes better… In case anyone is looking for a comparison. I didn’t like the sauerbraten. It’s, well, sour. HA! Very vinegary beef. Not my cup o’ tea. But Mom liked it! Anyway, I’m so glad we finally checked out Schnitzel & Co. If you like German food and live in the area, you’ll be glad this place opened! I can see having occasional cravings for that chicken schnitzel. Good thing this is close to home!
