Filthy! Hair all over beds. Smelled like a wet dog. Carpet was held together with shipping tape. They did not even try to male it right. Checked out after being in room for 20 minutes.

There are only two real options for lodging in Eagle River, and this is the only chain choice of the two. It was a dark and stormy night, and I was attending a party in ER. I wanted to do the responsible thing, and booked a room here versus driving back to Anchorage after a couple of drinks. The room was small, and the furnishings sparse. Two thin tiny pillows adorned the bed, and I had to get two more to sleep my way. There were abundant cigarette burns pretty much everywhere, but to their credit, the room did not smell of smoke. Which was a good thing since I booked a non-smoking room. I opted out of the free breakfast, but could have probably scrounged something together from what I observed. I did try the coffee, and it was marginal. I found the clerk to be very friendly, and he provided the extra pillows straight away.

This place totally meets up to its 1-star reputation. It is loud and beat up, our bathroom had holes and was missing a hinge from the bathroom. It had a tube style television-which I thought was odd.

Where to start? No towels in the room so had to carry them up from the lobby. Discovered many of them had holes in them. Dingy room in general with ridiculous number of stains on couch. Shower curtain brown on the bottom. Walls are VERY thin. Police responded to hotel because neighbors across the hall got into a fight with a knife. Police tazed the person outside our room. Naturally he starts screaming. Had to give statement to police all at 4 am. Plus side, the coffee maker worked in room. Few other things worked, like the window locks. Overall, a memorable experience, but surprised Wyndham would let their property fall into this state. Did I mention the blood on the carpet and walls still not cleaned up when we tried to check out a few days early? Yikes.

Wyndham MicroTel Inn Eagle River, Alaska Pro’s: Strong wifi connection Great heaters Newspaper machine in lobby ATM machine in lobby Vending machines Adequate parking Luggage cart available No bed bugs Guest Washer & Dryer worked perfectly Front Desk staff was friendly but disorganized I was charged incorrectly Large grocery store = 5 minute walk from hotel Con’s: Run down property Minimal maintenance done at this hotel Pet feces = dog poo not picked up it was on the ground right as you exited Extremely thin walls you could hear everything and I mean EVEYTHING No variety at the free breakfast. No eggs no waffles nothing hardly at all Bed blanket had visible cigarette holes in it and was ripped badly Sofa was extremely stained see for yourself in the photos Toilet didn’t flush properly sometimes had to flush 3 times Guest hung a giant banner outside their hotel window that said«auto neuro» It was outside the guest window for weeks manager was aware yet did nothing The pro’s and con’s I’ve listed along with the many photos I’ve attached pretty much speaks volumes about this hotel so I will skip writing a longer review on this hotel. Honestly this is a more challenging review for me to write because there was just so much bad about this hotel and I found it a challenge to list the positives about this hotel. I mean listing that they have a luggage cart as a positive point is really making an effort to point out something positive. The thing about this hotel and this area is, it’s in the small city of Eagle River where there are only two hotels available so it’s either this hotel with all it’s con’s or one other motel that is not a name brand motel. It seemed as though there were local people who were actually living in this hotel for long periods of time. For weeks there was a huge banner hanging from the outside of a guests bedroom window that read«auto nero» when I mentioned to the front desk they said that the hotel manager was aware of the gigantic banner. Yet that banner hung there for weeks. I know because I was there and saw it. It just made me question the security at this hotel because they allowed such a huge weird sign to be billboarded on the outside of their hotel for such an extended period of time. It made me question the sanity of other hotel guests and the general safety in this hotel and it made me question if the manager of this hotel really cared at all considering nothing was done to remove such an odd banner. See attached photo I can’t even make this stuff up. Be aware that out of the three floors the 3rd floor is reserved for smoking guest and guests with pets. I conclude with suggesting if there is any way possible you can choose a hotel in Anchorage and commute to Eagle River I would highly recommend doing that because this hotel wasn’t cheap and for the same price you can find a much better hotel in Anchorage that would definitely offer you a better over all stay. If however you have no choice but to stay in Eagle River then you only have 2 choices in accommodations. If you need to stay for a long period of time this hotel offers a bi-weekly and a monthly discounted rate. In closing there were no visible bed bugs and that’s great however I don’t recommend this hotel if you can stay at a better hotel in Anchorage for the same price.

Pros: –Location Cons: –Unfriendly and unprofessional staff(never greeting me or my party, annoyed when asking for assistance, unwilling to help, didnt check ID or confrim credit card when checking in, was charged for stay before checking out) –Cleanliness(hskp came once during 5 day stay, hair in shower, holes in towels, blood stain on sheet, pet hair in carpet, pet smell in elevator) –Price($ 112/night for basically a bed to sleep in. I’ve paid less at hostels and received better service) –Condition of room(bathroom door wouldn’t close, no lock on window, burned out light bulb) –No amenitities(hair dryer, coffee maker, iron, no condiments at continental breakfast) I would not recommend this Microtel to anyone and feel disappointed and embarrassed for Wyndham. The staff responded to inquiries as though you were an annoyance to them and couldn’t take the time to even try and smile when you walked through the lobby. The icing on the cake was when a friend of our party was sitting in the lobby and overheard the front desk agent hang up the phone and respond to a guest request by saying«What do they think this is? A four star hotel? I don’t care if f**king Obama is staying up there, im not bringing it up». Save yourself the headache and stay in Anchorage.

Holy crap you won’t believe everyone slamming their doors in this place! Not a well made hotel. Walls are paper thin. Staff is very nice however and so are the housekeeping people. Spendy in the summer $ 1650 a month. Had to stay two months for work. Ouch!

I really appreciated the service here and how the staff managed my long, but chopped up, stay. I was going to be in Alaska and needed to be in eagle river for 6 or 7 days, but not consecutively. Although it was an odd request, they still at least gave me a suite room. Yes it is small but it is called MICROtel for a reason. They cleaned up promptly and had no issues with cleanliness at all. The only thing that bothered me was being able to hear the people in the room next door for all the days I stayed – the walls are paper thin. Free wifi and free breakfast were big plusses for me and Id stay here again! Thank you staff!

This hotel is really getting run down. I think it’s just a way for owners to take in money, because the sure don’t invest much in keeping the place nice. Flooded, broken up driveway, no lights in back parking lot, sheets don’t get changed, stains and holes in carpet, security lock broken off room door, staff spends a lot of time sitting on front steps smoking. The ultimate«casual approach» to service. Skip this place if you can.

Stayed in two different rooms over the week i was there. First room, bathroom door took some effort to keep shut. Second room, bathroom door would not shut at all. A very uncomfortable stay especially since I was sharing the room. Rooms are small, but appear clean. The pillows are like rocks. I expected a lot more for the price i paid.

Small room, small bed, small everything. Could have been more for the price. Sheets smelled heavily of bleach, probably a good thing. Didn’t try the complimentary breakfast since I checked out before 6 a.m., but the coffee was just ok.
