I have been eating at Pops since they opened in Dyer and before that in Homewood. Since they built the new store down the street not so much. Walk in and the place reeks like a grease trap that caught on fire… very unappealing. The food has definatly slid down hill as well… beef very dry and overlooked, hot dogs over cooked and greasy… like they have been sitting around all day. You had a great place but got greedy.

Not good not bad. The beef seemed inconsistent but wasn’t bad but just not that good. They do have a really good selection of soups and the fries were good.

Been here several times and I wouldn’t go back. This is what happens when a place franchise’s out. My red sauce on the side was a pre packaged peel top marinara cup. Come on seriously? The fries were unsalted and the beef flavor was not there. Honestly the bread was the only part of the meal that was on par. Shame on you for putting no love into your food. This is like the mcdonalds for beef sandwiches. Not a compliment by the way.

Not a bad fast food joint. That being said, it really isn’t anything special and tends to be very hit or miss. I’ve had times where the gyro is really good and other times where it is too greasy to eat. The beef sandwich has been good at times and really not good other times. The list goes on and on, really. If you’re looking for a place nearby that has decent food most of the time, then try this place out. Personally, I liked the food more in the old location.

went there for a beef sandwich and all i can say is that its an okay sandwich. would rather have Als or portillos but none in the area. Pepinos offers a way better beef sandwich and would rather go there.

Messed up the order, shorted us fries. Bunch of teenagers don’t care what they’re selling. Won’t go back

I have been enjoying Portillo’s in Arizona for a quite some time now and every time I meet someone from Indiana or Chicago they tell me how I must try Pop’s. Well, I finally made it to this side and boy were they right. Tender, delicious moist beef in a delicious broth on soft, chewy bread. The flavor delightful and over flowing with meat and juices. I am in Italian Beef paradise. It was so good I bought 3 pounds of meat to take back to AZ with me.

Best italian beef, by far! Seasoned well, plenty of meat, and the bread is never dry. I get the 6″ italian beef and fries. Loooove it. I live in AZ, and it’s my first stop when I come to IN. Nothing else compares!

As a regular visitor to Portillo’s locations, I had a very high level of expectation when first trying Pop’s. Let’s just say Pop’s exceeded my expectations! Their Italian beef sandwiches are the best in the Chicago area. Better than Portillo’s? Well, while they are both tasty, Pop’s gets the #1 spot due to the fact that they are extremely generous with their portions and the value of the sandwich.(Portillo’s is very inconsistent with the amount of beef they lay on the sandwich. Sometimes it’s a nice portion, but many times it’s another version of «where’s the beef?». Oh, Pop’s taste GREAT too! They in fact load up their sandwiches with a huge amount of Italian beef, seasoned perfectly(I always get it ‘dipped’, which adds extra flavor). Huge portions at 1⁄3 the cost less than others(like Portillo’s). Also, the french fries served are the way fries are supposed to be! Thin, crispy and most importantly, never an old greasy taste(like you find at most McDonalds). The only drawback to this location is the unusual interior design. Not very comfortable and not very well designed. But, their food quality, taste and value more than makeup for the interior design!

I been going there since it was at the original location in dyer down the street. Its a good sandwich for the price. Theres plenty of soup to pick from and the salads are good also. I loved the old locations with the jar of giardiniera but now theres only side cups :(and they took the free ice cream away with the kids meal. Over all I will go back again for a bite to eat.

Tasty beef sandwiches! The mild peppers are very flavorful and not overpowering to the beef flavor of the sandwich. Fries are good… hit and just salty enough! However, the spicy cheese curds weren’t really spicy at all(they were still good though). Bottom line — I had a taste for a good beef sandwich and this hit the spot!

UPDATE: I called to complain and they are sending me a discount card plus letting the store manager know. GREATRESPONSEONCUSTOMERSERVICE! Back to 5 stars! I like this place and don’t event mind paying extra, just .50, for a side of hot peppers. I do object to paying .50 for a tiny cup HALFFULL of hot peppers. You guys lose a star with me.

I like stopping here for a quick bite once in a while, it’s really nothing remarkable but, food is A-OK, it’s fast, clean and service is decent. Whenever we’ve eaten here the tables have been clean, the staff behind the counter was nice and we’d always get our food quickly and we haven’t gotten a wrong order yet. The layout is a bit odd, seems a bit too spaced out. The pop machine is tucked away in the corner away from the counter or where you’d «normally» expect it. No big deal really, not like it’s hidden or anything, just in a weird place… Food is your standard fare, burgers, hot dogs and the staple fried stuff. I’ve had a couple Cheeseburgers here and fries, good, not great… just your typical burger. The strawberry shakes are good too, pretty thick… use a spoon, straws are useless for it. There’s a fairly large outdoor seating area but, I’ve yet to see any tables or chairs out there. Maybe summer will change that? All in all, not a bad place, just your run of the mill fast food stop with more options and slightly healthier ones too.

Oh Pops this last visit was not cool. The beefs were so over saturated with au-ju that there was no way to eat it normally. It’s called a beef sandwich not beefy bread mush. :-(my sandwich had a slightly fishy taste. Your redemption was in the French fries which were tasty and your soup. The broccoli cheddar is delish.

I could always depend on Pops. I should have known when it took me 10 minutes to get into that crappy mall they were in and then to find out they moved! I drove two blocks east and they have a brand new building with a very nice patio in the front. Parking is slim in the front and I would actually advise against it. I designed restaurants for 15 years and whomever did this joint must have been a friend of the family. The inside is nice, because it’s new. Lots of open space that is not neccessary. It almost makes it feel like a cafeteria. The soda machine is is off in the corner and the ketchup dispenser is right in front of it on the counter. I ordered my food and was told to pay at the end. The food order was right, but she didn’t charge me enough as she couldn’t read the other girls chicken scratch! The burger seemed to be ok. Don’t know if they changed the beef or what, but it was a bit flavorless. The sack of fries that I always dream about, were horrible. I think they are getting ready for winder in Indiana because these fuckers were dragged across a salt lick! Now as I am trying to leave at high noon, and guess what? The dumb ass designer made the drive-thru the wrong way. There is one entrance to this place. So you have to go thru the front parking lot to get to the DT. And when you have a line out to 30, that leaves no room for the idiots that parked in the front to get out! Sorry Charlie! This place is more trouble than where they were at before! Now I’m gonna have to find another sack of fries to dream about!

Lots of good specials. The dogs are standard good quality. The gyro meat is excellent. Good music. Relatively fast service for how busy it gets. Improvements: need an option for poppy seed hot dog buns

Overall, great-quick sandwich place. Grill-Chicken Pita, Philly Steak, Gyro’s, Godfather — are all Great … Service is good, and friendly. The extras(peppers, sauce, etc.) that– will nickle and dime ya. Hot dogs are just OK.(no Poppy seed on the buns) :( Nice place for a meal, not the best, but good.

For the money, this is the best place. Good food, generous portions and fast service. They have a huge menu. Their soup is great too.
