It breaks my heart that I need to downgrade the star for this place. I think there’s a lot of potential but what they offer is hard to deliver if there isn’t lot of turn over. I end up waiting a long time for a burrito every time and many of the ingredients are ice cold upon entering said burrito(salsa, cheese). The heated ingredients are no match and I wind up with a cold taco/burrito before I can eat it. A busier establishment can afford to keep things hot on hand and keep their salsa cold but not frozen. No refried beans and bland guacamole are also a couple strikes. Now, I’m not saying I’d rather eat at Cancun or Sam Diego’s across the way but I think I will keep my Mexican cravings in check unless I can make it to Plaza Azteca in Hingham. fail

Casual, great for take-out, good food, great smoked pork burrito, beans and homemade atomic hot sauce. Don’t forget to ask for it! Simple place with good Mexican — you should try it.

Tacos are good, but a little pricey. The inside reminds me of a little beach shack joint from a Costa Rica trip. Tacos to the right and fro-yo to the left. BYOB with tables inside and out, and a parking lot. My boyfriend and I shared a cheese quesadilla and the chicken and brisket tacos. We got guacamole and sour cream and it was an up-charge. :(The tacos also came with some tortilla chips but no salsa. The chicken taco was very tasty and packed full, but the brisket one was a little weak; light on the meat. Overall it was good, but I don’t think It was worth $ 15 for those 3 things. I would try it again though. The fro-yo isn’t bad. Like a blizzard, choose toppings to be mixed in with chocolate or vanilla fro-yo. I give yo-yogurt a thumbs up due to my love of all things fro-yo.

Love this place! Best place for tacos on the South Shore. Its so nice to have a small taco place like this to grab a quick bite and enjoy your food on adirondack chairs or at a picnic table outside or in. The smell once you walk in is awesome! They make their own stuff here, so their pulled pork is good and the beef is excellent. Be sure to try their hot sauces they have a few up near the checkout to try with your meal. It is a shame that they charge extra for sour cream and guacamole and only include salsa, it would be nice to add those without the extra costs. They have more than tacos, they have burritos and quesadillas too. You can pick how you want them — fillers is what they call them, your meats, your veggies, pick it and make it your own. You want to check out this place, great for families! Place is small so not really a group place but if you want to go outside there is plenty of places to stand and a few chairs and picnic tables to sit at.

I’ve been to Yo Taco many times since it opened and it continues to be a favorite place to pick up a quick family dinner. On your way to the beach? Going home? Need to grab a quick dinner between kid activities? Headed to a game at the high school? The food is fresh and made to order, with something for everyone. 4 stars because you do have to wait for a bit(this isn’t fast food, folks) and the final price for a family of five always leaves me doing the math again in my head. But, the local & friendly owners give back to the town in many different ways and I’m happy to support new small business owners. They definitely have found a place for themselves in Duxbury!

Great place to stop on your way to or from Boston from the Cape. Fresh homemade and deliciously seasoned tacos. Great guacamole too. Have the beef barbecoa, home smoked brisket yum.

The food was pretty good but the service was terrible so that affected my opinion. I got the blackened tilapia taco(came with two, to my surprise, so that was a plus) and my boyfriend got the beef burrito. Both our meals were tasty and filling, although I wasn’t a fan of the guac on my taco– it was sweet and creamy… I found that weird. The tilapia was awesome and spicy, paired with onions and sweet pineapple salsa– a yummy twist! The guy that served us didn’t once look at us, though. Considering we were the only customers there I’d assumed we’d be treated a little friendlier but whatever. I will probably be back someday.

Where do I even begin? Please save yourself from a terrible meal and opt for Taco Bell or even Olé El Paso from the grocery store. We had tacos this evening and not only did the shells taste like stale store-bought, the taco itself had no flavor. It was literally like eating a piece of card board that resembled a taco. How is this place still in business? What I really don’t understand is how this place has received any reviews above one star. I am a firm believer of not wasting food, but this place calls for an exception. The only place this food belongs is in the trash and that is exactly where we put it. If you pass by this place… keep on driving.

My wife and I love this place, the food is amazing and the prices are great. We have been many times for lunch, leave full and spend under $ 20.

Updating my review from last year… okay, they take cards now. Great! I still like the food — but I still hate the experience. Three seemingly teenage boys shouldn’t really be staffing a non-fast-food-chain restaurant unsupervised. Where are the owners? Are you boys washing your hands? Did you really just put my paper bag of chips down on a wet cutting board, then hand it to me? I can’t help but think how much better this place would be if they: 1) invested even $ 2000 in the décor/set up 2) trained the staff to act like grown ups working at a restaurant and to know things about the menu, like how hot the«hot» salsa is, or what veggies are in the veggie taco 3) had a responsible adult around for quality control and management 4) invested in some better fucking chips… those chips are a disgrace. I will not pay money for them even one more time. 5) stopped pretending they have a frozen yogurt business too and focus on the tacos — Yo Taco, half the restaurant looks dead as you maintain this ruse! I’ve never seen ANYONE get a yogurt. Don’t worry, the name will still make sense, promise. This place could be so much better. I’ll still go here to get burritos sometimes(because seriously, like I have other options in the area) but I won’t like my experience until something changes.

I got a groupon for this place and planned to stop by after a day at the beach. The plan went well until we started eating. I got the chicken fajita burrito($ 9) which was very underwhelming. I am still not sure why they call it a fajita burrito. The only thing I noticed was a couple what seemed to be raw peppers in the burrito. The chicken in the burrito was tender and overall good. I sneaked a piece of steak from my friends burrito and although she did not like it i thought it was very flavorful. Overall I have had better burritos.

Having spent a considerable time in Allston where there’s no shortage of amazing taco shops, I showed up at Yo Taco with very low expectations. I don’t typically write bad reviews, but my experience was just so disappointing tonight I felt compelled because Yo Taco couldn’t even meet my low expectations. 1. All the food is a little overpriced. $ 7 for two small tacos and no sides? 2. The service tonight was bad. The three young boys working couldn’t get an order correct in the 10 – 15 minutes I was there. And all their friends seemed to be stoping by to say hello. Let’s focus on my food guys, huh? 3. All those interruptions and screw ups made my wait time way too long. How long does it take to make two tacos? Apparently 10+ minutes at Yo Taco. 4. The owners need to train or maybe just remind their staff about preparing food properly. Things like when to wear gloves and when to wash their hands. Let’s just say it’s an open kitchen and people are watching. 5. Lastly and most importantly, the thing that can pretty much make me forget all the factors above… The taste. Probably the biggest letdown of the whole experience for me tonight. I tried the Carne Asada tacos and they were barely seasoned or heated through. It’s sad for me to sit here and write this because I want this place to be great and be my secret taco joint on the south shore, but it’s not… It fails in almost every way that great taco shops succeed. By serving fast, cheap, delicious food. Sadly Yo Taco did none of those things tonight.

The five of us tried this place for the first time tonight. We had a hot dog and variety of tacos. What a horrible experience. The portions were so small that even our seven year old was hungry afterwards. It was like having an appetizer not a meal. We spent close to $ 40 and we were joking about where to go next for the main course. The place was not clean and the service was very inefficient. There was steak out on the counter and flies all around. There were no napkins or forks available on the counter. The kitchen crew was utterly disorganized. If you are looking to have tacos or burritos in the south shore, stick with Chipotle instead.

Closet you can get to Anna’s Taqueria on the South Shore(including Jarritos beverages). Also appreciate the Coke with real sugar from Mexico. The owners and staff are always amazingly friendly and cheerful. Love the picnic table vibe and crushed shell drive outside.

We bought a Grouon for yoTaco, and got take-out for dinner. Had the Beef Barbecoa burrito. It was great, the brisket was awesome. The wife had smoked pork burrito minus the pineapple salsa and said she liked it. Place is very convenient to home(Kingston to Duxbury), and the prices are pretty good. The only thing we didn’t really like were the chips. They were not made at the restaurant, they were from a bag. Same chips as movie theater nachos. Would not order those again. Hopefully they will start making their own chips someday. Other than that we will most likely be buying another Groupon for yoTaco and dining there again in the future.

Five stars because it’s the only decent Mexican food I’ve been able to find out the South Shore. They are always mixing it up with new menu items and when they say something is spicy, it’s darned spicy. The people behind the counter are always helpful, especially when we bring the kids. It’s a no-frills facility, so keep that in mind.

I am upping this review to a 3 star. I went here again with the family. Maybe it’s growing on me or maybe the food is tasting better. We went with an assortment of dishes again, the pork again was very good. Maybe I just don’t want people to be deterred by a 2 star review, so here is 3. Give it a try.

Each order of tacos come with 2 corn(soft of fried) or 2 flour tortillas. I ordered fish tacos and my husband ordered barbacoa and we shared and had 1 of each. The things that matter most were very good: 1) The mahi-mahi was very fresh tasting and cooked well. 2) The barbacoa tacos were incredibly good. The meat was spicy and tender and really flavorful. Even better than the fish. 3) The side of tortilla chips was freshly fried and they were made of flour tortillas, as opposed to corn, which was a nice change. They reminded me of the kind of chips you’d get in Mexico. 4) The service was very friendly. This 3 star review could easily become 4 stars or better, if Yo Taco would make a few minor adjustments. 1) When someone orders the«tacos», maybe you could suggest adding rice & beans to make it a «taco platter»? I didn’t even know it was an option until I read the take-out menu on my way home in the car, and I would have loved a side of black beans. 2) Make better salsa. It tasted fresh, but it lacked spice and was too much like a cold marinara sauce. 3) Use fresh avocado in the guacamole. I know it’s been cold and you’re a small shop so I accept that it may be tough to always have fresh avocado on-hand, but it makes all the difference. 4) Use shredded cabbage in the fish tacos, as the menu says, instead of shredded lettuce. This was our first visit but we will definitely be back. Especially in the warmer months because they also serve frozen yogurt!

It’s new. Tacos are ok, however smoothies are great. Too new to tell if they will last. I’ll give them another shot, but wouldn’t wait in line. Very convenient to /from Duxbury beach and schools.

If I had not come back from eating some of the yummiest tacos on my recent trip to San Diego, this place may have made a more impressive first experience. The menu is small but varied. Tacos are the highlight and what we ordered(chicken verde, fish, smoked pork, and mom’s tacos) were pretty tasty but far from authentic Mexican. I personally was not crazy about the heavy usage of smoked and BBQ meats for fillings. I found Mom’s tacos to be the most disappointing — ground beef, lettuce, pico de gallo, and shredded cheese. That is pretty much what the taco kits from the supermarket does. Not what I was expecting. I think the menu is missing a few core items — carnitas, carne asada. Instead, they have smoked pork and marinated beef brisket. Oddest menu item is the frozen yogurt, which is served on the opposite side of the kitchen. I guess when the summer rolls around, it will be an all-in-one type shop. Grab some lunch and dessert. Portions are on the small side, especially the fish tacos. The piece of fish was tiny; you could barely taste it with all the other fillings. Prices are a bit steep for what you are getting. This place won’t set your taste buds into heaven, but it is a decent addition to Duxbury.
