It’s always nice to give my business to a locally owned family run establishment. I’ve gotten two pairs of glasses here over the last several years and for the quality of the product, knowledge of the employees, and the price, it just can’t be beat.

I finally found a GREAT optical shop! This is my 4^th optical shop in as many years, and my final stop. As someone mentioned, their frame selection is outstanding. They have a wide range from classic to funky and everything in between. My prescription is odd, and I have progressive bi-​focals on top of that, but I picked up my new glasses yesterday and for the first time in years, I can SEE. Actually see! I was so happy with them, I ordered a second pair (sunglasses). The employees are some of the friendliest people in the world, and very knowledgeable about all aspects of glasses. Great store, great employees!

Great value and great service! I have bought and been very satisfied with glasses from both locations. The staff at the Fayetteville Street location fitted and repaired my elderly mother’s glasses (bought elsewhere) at no charge and could not have been nicer in the process.

Not just the edgiest glasses in the Triangle and possibly on the East coast (while still having plenty selection for grandma) and at reasonable prices, but Michael Upchurch is just a genius at matching frames to what looks good on YOU. You know how you go in a store and try on all these frames and can’t be sure that style/​color is really going to work for you? Tell him your needs and colors and Mr Upchurch in five minutes will pick out the several frames that most flatter you, for you to choose from, he is amazing.
The customer service is as good as the selection of frames. I would not consider buying glasses anywhere else. I even bought glasses here when I lived in Europe — all the European styles at much lower cost. Now they have opened a second more upscale looking store in Sutton Station (I never could believe such a cool place was located in a corner of a drugstore on Roxboro Road).

i was a refugee from specs (2 thumbs down, i’m afraid) when i started going to the original upchurch optical in north durham. everybody i know who has gone to upchurch has loved them, and we do, too. last year, they opened a second store on fayetteville rd, much closer to our house. the new store is great, too. same excellent selection and service, and really great prices. locally owned and operated, too. great place!
