I’m sure from my park reviews people must think I’m a secret park connoisseur. However, the amount of parks I go to is purely based around the fact that many a day I spend with a two and four year old, a tiny nephew and now that the warm weather is giving us a long tease(hopefully not a tease) I just can’t get enough of the outdoors: picnics, playdates, frisbees, soccer and more. I haven’t heard anything talk about Solite Park, but it’s the closet park to my house so as soon as the weather warmed up I be-lined it over there. The park is located off busy Fayetteville Street, so it can be somewhat of a pain entering and exiting, but once you’re driving down the gravel path you forget the noise of the busy street and are transported into the country with large streets surrounding you nice open fields. The park is home to two volleyball courts(although no nets were up on my visit), a basket ball court and large play structure with mini climbing wall/tunnel, seesaw, four slides and a couple swings. There’s also a covered picnic area with grill and bathrooms. This park meets up with some running trails and houses a dirt bike«ring» and off shoots to biking paths. There are two large, open fields for whatever your heart desires and the park seems relatively unknown. There were two other families there on our weekday visit at 4pm, and a group of college looking kids playing basketball. I’d recommend this park as a great spot for the kids or adults alike. You can also rent out the covered picnic area through the Parks and Rec department.
