They don’t allow you to use credit/debit if your order is under $ 20 which is obnoxious. The atmosphere is dark and uninviting, all windows are tinted like a tricked out 1998 Corolla. From the parking lot it looks more like a cheap club than a pizza place. Service was ok but very slow considering there was no one else there. Pizza was way too greasy and bland not to mention small and overpriced for what you get, however I’ve had worse. Soda machine dispensed flavorless carbonated water. Everything about this place was unappealing. The whole vibe was dirty, sketchy, unfriendly and all I wanted to do was get out of there.

Stromboli was delicious! The owner has that northern flair mixed with a touch of southern charm. Nice place, I’ll go back!

Lame. One thin slice of eggplant and chicken on my heroes and barely enough sauce. The bread was ok. So for $ 7 a hero it should have been a lot better. The cheese pie was lacking cheese and looked like it was sitting out for 20 minutes. I should have suspected the place was not so good because there was NO one in the place eating. Definitely not the kind of NY Pizza place that I grew up eating at. Im not from that area so it was a pass by and pickup food on the way to a friends house.

First time in Durham, thought we try Ricky. Glad we did. Good service, good food and good lunch prices. Would love to come back before we head home. Go UK Wildcats!

I’m a New Yorker and Ricky knows his stuff, and has the attitude and accent to back it up — really sweet guy. Service is always fast and friendly, we live around the block so generally pick up but delivery is pretty efficient and the staff is awesome.

Ricky’s is right down the road from us, and it’s our go to pizza place in north Durham. The appetizers are a little overpriced, but the pizzas and sandwiches we think are a great deal. The Cuban sandwich is my must have, and my husband has enjoyed almost every pizza and sub he’s ordered from here.

I’ve eaten the pizza from here probably 5 or more times. The pizza is among the best I’ve had in Durham. It far surpasses dominoes, Pizza Hut, papa john’s, etc… Order here before you order from those other places. You won’t regret it. My only problem with this place is that I’ve had what my taste buds told me was the best pizza ever when I was in Virginia Beach(lived there an extended period of time). So I compare all pizza to that. This pizza is very good and I’ll be back!

Went back for another visit and I must say I’m pleased with the food. What little I got to eat of it. My grandmother saw it and decided she wanted it. She’s 88 and can have whatever she wants. I head guy in charged explained what happened on my previous visit and I appreciated the sentiment. Next time I think I will get a speciality pizza. I recommend the food. This is one of my favorite spots.

The pizza is good — that’s not the problem, maybe a little overpriced — but thats not the problem. The problem is the employees. My family and I showed up 2 hours before closing one evening — looking to dine in. When we entered the restaurant all the chairs in the dining room were on top of the tables. I asked if we could dine in and the employee at the register said no. I asked why, and his response was because you can’t. At that point we left and that was enough for us to never return.

I live near Ricky’s and order pizza from them pretty regularly. It’s usually takeout as opposed to delivery, so I cannot speak to their delivery service. Their pizza is delicious and you can tell that everything is fresh. I spoke with the owner a couple of times and he said they have most of their ingredients shipped down from New Jersey. In any case, it’s authentic NY style pizza and it’s about as good as you’re going to get in Durham, NC. The service is pretty fast also. You can call in an order for several pizzas and a few appetizers and they will usually have everything ready by the time you get there, in 20 minutes or so. The downside, as others have mentioned, is price. You will pay a little more here than at a Domino’s and Papa John’s, but it’s not overly-expensive and I think it’s worth it. Another downside is that it’s a little out of the way unless you live pretty firmly up in North Durham. But if you like NY style pizza and you’re in the area, then you need to try this place.

I ordered 2 strombolies, it took an hour and a half to get them. when they came they were cold and wasnt what I ordered. I called back the order was fixed free of hour later it arrived cold, and we were less than 5 miles away from the restaurant. and the driver said the owner told him to ask for another .I will never eat here again. wish I could give less stars

Unilocal helped me again! Really good thin crust pizza. Only some beer, no wine. Clean and quick. Garlic knots hit the spot. The only thing is that they could use shakers of parm cheese on tables. Great for takeout but not a date night place. Can’t wait to try the subs or calzones and everything else on the menu!

Overpriced bring cash, they don’t take credit/debit cards for purchases under $ 20. They just happen to have a teller machine by the front door. Can’t tell how many people are eating or if they are open either, storefront is blacked out like they are hiding something !

Order delivery at 6:18. Called at 7:30 was told«it’s coming». Waited another 20 minutes — I live less than 10 minutes away and was treated to a burnt Stromboli, and a warm cold Italian sub, cold fries all to the tune of $ 40. I used to like this place but the quality of the food and customer service has gone way downhill. Save your money.

I was on business and they only take cash for orders $ 20 and under. Since I was using my credit card I was unable to order. Not sure go the food was going to be, the place smelled great.

Tasty pizza & quick service. I think $ 21 for a pizza and side salad was a bit much though. The salad was not that impressive for $ 4.99. I would order a pizza from here again– it wouldn’t be my first choice, but it is good. It’s a MILLION times better than Dominos.

Ahh Ricky’s New York Pizza. It’s a nice place. The interior is clean, the dining area is nice and the service desk is well presented. The menu at the front is large enough for any vision disabled person to read without any glasses or contacts! I feel like I’m standing in an IMAX theater when I’m looking at that menu. Seriously have to turn my head left to right to read it. Anyways, they have a nice selection, from Pizza’s to Stromboli’s to Garlic Bread to Stir Fry– Wait, what the? Did I just say that? Yes, yes I did. Normally if a themed restaurant reaches outside of their culinary theme, they’re in dire straits and they’re trying to cater to as much as possible. That’s a dangerous situation, and normally leaves their food to be lacking. However, that’s not the case for Ricky’s New York Pizza. Although I didn’t try their hand at asian cuisine, I did have their pizza’s and calzones. Those, I can speak for. The pizza is better than average. It’s the good amount of grease, the crust is crisp and thin but not too thin. The crusts on the pizza(around the edge) are great. I swear they were using honey to flavor them on my first visit, but now, it tastes above average. What was wrong with me that day? Anyways… The calzones are a good size(about the size of half a dinner plate) and you’ll be fed. But they’re below average. Quite bland actually. My wife ordered feta cheese and banana peppers in her calzone. She only tasted these fillings 3 or 4 times throughout the meal. Other than that, I fully appreciate the great customer service. HOWEVER, this is not a family restaurant after hours. If you’re okay with the TV being turned all the way up for the entire staff to listen to Chris Rock do stand up about some offensive, non dinner table subjects, then by all means come right in and enjoy the comedy house. If you’re there for a nice pizza place experience for all ages, then you might want to reconsider this venue.

This is a great spot for authentic Italian. Had Lasagna, Stromboli and not to be missed Garlic Knots. They deliver for 3.00

My first and most likely, final 5 star review for a pizza place. I would give it 6, if I could. I absolutely love Ricky’s. By far, the tastiest New York pizza I’ve ever had. The crust is crisp on the outside, soft on the inside. The sauce is perfect. I love that it’s just good quality tomatoes blended up with a little something. That’s what pizza sauce should be. The cheese is always thick and tasty. The ricotta, OH, the ricottta!!! I would cut off my left leg for a slice of their Lasagna pizza. The pizza consists of mozzarella, ricotta, ground beef and sauce. They put the beef on first, then a very generous helping of cheese, followed by dollops of sauce and seasoned ricotta. I can’t even begin to tell you how tasty it is! If you don’t try this, you’re missing one of the best mouthfuls of food that money can buy.

The best Pizza I’ve found in the area. By the slice or for an XL Pie, I haven’t been disappointed. When you dine in you fill your own drink, I assume free refills. You’ll never find this option back in NY. The pizza itself the dough is tasty and the sauce is balanced a touch sweet not overly seasoned and cooked exactly right. I’m a regular here.
