Refinements

I stumbled upon Refinements when I was out thrifting with a friend (looking for teacups to use at her wedding) — and lucky for us, they were in the midst of an annual store-​wide 50% off sale!
Now, this is not a shop to find teacups — this is a women’s clothing boutique. And I wouldn’t call it a thrift store, because the items are carefully selected and all of high quality. I would say the target age range for the styles found at Refinements is 50+, but any age can appreciate classic pieces!
I went home with: a 100% cashmere sweater in cream ($ 36 full price, $ 18 on sale, brand: Investments), a long 100% merino wool cardigan ($ 26, $ 13, banana republic), and a ramie/​wool oversized sweater ($ 22, $ 11, Compagnie Internationale Limited Express).
They also have dresses (from everyday to full sequins), overcoats, shoes, and purses. I had my eye on quite a few scarves, but that’s an addiction I’m trying to curb ;)
Great shop — and the women working there are very helpful if you’re looking for styling advice! When you visit, make sure you sign up for their mailing list… you don’t want to miss their annual sales!

Visiting a friend in Durham, I found Refinements online and decided to try it. How very glad I am that I did! The shop is so beautifully organized by type of garment, size and color and Cynthia does a great job selecting what she wants for her shop. The items are brands of quality and are in excellent condition. The prices are right, too! I left there with a shopping bag full of wonderful «buys» feeling on top of the world! I recommend Refinements wholeheartedly and will return when next I visit the area.

This is the best refinement shop in the Triangle. I almost always find something to buy, and the selection is always great. I am usually looking for classic professional clothing, and really hate to shop, but the thrill of finding cool pieces to pair with things I already have is wonderful. Cynthia is amazingly helpful, and keeps the inventory refreshed and updated. I rarely shop anywhere else.

Refinements is an excellent consignment shop that offers a wide variety of items for women. The owner, Cynthia, is helpful and friendly. She has a good eye for fashion and will help you coordinate an outfit because she knows all the items in her shop and what works well together.
I always make this a «must» stop and shop when I have friends visiting from out of town. I go there often and usually find something I want.
This is a well-​organized shop with reasonable prices. Don’t miss it. Once you go, you will make it a regular shopping stop.

Just discovered Refinements Resale Boutique and I am so glad to know about it! Cynthia is so helpful and her store is a delight: clean, neat, well-​lit and not cramped. A fun place to shop!

I happened to find this resale shop while in the area. I love a well organized, picky consignment shop, and this one fit my criteria. The styles were current and brand name. Even the not so brand name items were well chosen to be included in the mix. I am middle-​age and found many items from Ann Taylor, Chico’s, and Jjill. The prices are comparable to other consignment stores that are well organized and set-​up like a boutique. When i can come away with 10 name brand shirts for under $ 100, I will definitely make the trip again.
