Very neat and eccentric gallery tucked into a lovely area in Downtown Durham. The artists here are all talented locals and their modern pieces explore very different mediums. The interior of the gallery is quite beautiful and there’s also a fantastic installation upstairs as well. There are some truly nice pieces in here and they are pretty nicely priced for what they are.

I’m not usually pleased to drive to Durham for a third Friday event, but every single time this one has been on point. Worth every penny of gas money and traffic hassle to get there by 6:30pm. A wide arrangement of artists that cycle in and out and range in medium from neon to found art to oil. Many times there is a gifted musician playing quiet jazz in the corner, or a boozy punch bowl and almonds upstairs. Art is reasonably priced, and you know it’s local so throw down for some!

A wonderful gallery right in the heart of downtown Durham. It just shows how far Durham has come and where it’s going. A perfect cultural stop for all ages whether you’re eating next door at Pizzeria Toro or on your way for ice cream at The Parlour. Pleiades Gallery is beautiful during the day, with lovely naturally lighting from their big windows and a skylight overhead. They should be at the top of your Third Friday activities or any casual gallery lovers list. Friendly staff that is helpful but also always you to take your time and even a tiny additional gallery upstairs. I love that they showcase several artists at the same time, which allows for many medias to be present, giving enjoyment for every art lover alike. I look forward to my next stop to Pleiades Gallery, a tiny breath of fresh air in downtown Durham.

Had a chance to visit this lovely gallery a few weeks ago while passing through Durham with my wife. The space is terrific, filled with light(at least there was during the day, when we were there!). The gallery is a cooperative of 10 artists, so the work is diverse and we thought quite sophisticated. Gallery owners Kim and Renee are extremely friendly, down-to-earth and enthusiastic conversationalists about the art on display, but never pushy or overly«salesy» if you know what I mean. The work sells itself it turns out, and we returned to DC with a fantastic painting by Darius Quarles that now graces our living room wall. I hate to mention it, but coming from DC we found the pricing for art of this quality to be unbelievably reasonable as well(in other words, kind of a steal… *blush*). I can foresee us planning future trips that take us through Durham so we can get our art fix at Pleiades again!

Fantastic gallery in the heart of downtown Durham next to great restaurants and clubs. Make this a must see when you’re out and about. It’s a cooperative with several artists showing at a time, and the shows change regularly so there’s a wide array of styles and genres represented. Some of the artists are truly amazing and prices are reasonable enough for collectors and admirers alike. I was one of the first to buy from the gallery, and the artists are often there working, so you get to meet them and learn, as well! Don’t miss this wonderful jewel of an experience. it will round your visit downtown out nicely and will make you want to visit often to see what’s next!

As new kid on the block Pleiades Gallery is a welcomed addition. The artwork is some of the best in the area, and at least 2 of the artists are there every day to enhance your experience. They are community conscious and have gatherings and events that bring that very community together in the love of art, good company, and good conversation.
