Neat little store, but I wish they had more toys. Yeah, I’m a toy hound, but that doesn’t stop me from enjoying other great types of stores too. Picked up a lot of Cd’s and some sterling silver dinner service items, and an amazing photo frame all for about $ 25. it feels a bit cramped in some areas, but the prices, nice staff and great items make this store a winner.

Not sure what Shelby is complaining about. I’ve lived in Durham a long time and shop here frequently. Marc Jacob dress for $ 6, Ferragamo pumps for $ 4, vintage Justin ropers for $ 15(the highest priced item I’ve bought there I think) among a multitude of other cool things. Also have gotten great housewares-wine glasses, Christmas decorations, etc. Like all thrift stores, the amount and quality of stuff fluctuates and I think has been affected by the lousy economy because people may be holding on to stuff longer. But overall-it’s among my favorite.

Here’s the thing, Nearly New Shoppe folks… you run a thrift shop, not a boutique. I have lots of experience with thrift shops, having run my own vintage clothing business for years, and though you can occasionally find something interesting here, you can be assured that it will be unbelievably overpriced, by thrift shop standards. I’m talking a used purse for $ 250, that didn’t retail for much more than that. Also, they have two cases up front with shockingly overpriced stuff in them(ugly, frumpy St. John dresses for the most part), that never sells for several reasons: the cases are locked up, the stuff runs $ 150 and up(I’m not kidding), and the weird ladies who work here treat people like criminals if they ask to look at it. They will stand over you while you look at the items. All that and they make the women share a single dressing room, so you can change clothes with some stranger. The whole experience is really strange, and I think the women who run the place have some control issues. I wouldn’t recommend thrifting here. There’s got to be a better spot to look for funky stuff.

I went inside today for the 1st time. Not only does this store have name brand merchandise, much of it is new. Even if it hasn’t new, it’s of high quality. AND the store offers markdowns on Mondays. All ties, dvd’s, and cd’s are $ 1. There are display closets for the mire upscale dresses, & I saw a ballroom rack which I will check out during my next visit. There are other steals, but today I purchased some much needed merchandise. Parking is free in a nearby garage. I’m happy to have found this little treasure online!

This is my favorite thrift shop in Durham. Since people who donate are generally from the Duke community, there’s not a lot of crappy clothing. I got a Lacoste sweater for $ 1 that I initially thought I would wear then just flipped on ebay for $ 50, also just bought a Jcrew sweater that’s from this season for $ 1. I always find high quality goods like Jcrew, Sak, etc. The comments that this is for older people are dumb since if you want Forever 21 crap from the thrift store, just go to Plato’s Closet! This is where it’s at. Bring cash or check.

As others have mentioned, kind of hidden location. Beyond the gas station, turn right on the next street, and pull into the parking garage — there are spaces reserved for Nearly-New customers. The store is a moderate size, and has everything from clothes and shoes, to dish sets and tubs of cookie and Jello mold cutters. With the occasional more prized possession like a truly«nearly-new» baby stroller. The clothes definitely seemed for the older set, and I was disappointed. Might come back again, but more likely to hit up Pennies for Change on a regular basis.

Very friendly, volunteer-run place with dirt cheap prices. It’s not as serious about the stuff they sell or receive than Goodwill’s, for example, so you’ll frequently find random odds and ends/trinkets for less than $ 1 and other generously-priced goods. The selection of clothes is alright and more for the older crowd. It’s a pretty small place and difficult to find if you’re not specifically looking for the store, but worth a stop if you’re in the Duke hospital area.

It took a little digging, but on my first visit I found an adorable Calvin Klein denim vest that I’m absolutely in love with for about $ 2. I got a couple of other items too and it all totaled up to less than $ 10. Also, the ladies that run it are THE sweetest. Heads up: they only accept cash or checks.
