My mother and I actually came to this hotel under special circumstances. We were under extreme duress because of issues at home, and we showed up at about 1:30 in the morning with a very small dog. We were checked right in and given a room on a top floor. The staff of this hotel — especially Yolanda — went above and beyond assisting us with everything we could possibly need and comforting my mother in her extreme stress. We kept needing to extend our stay, and ended up staying there for almost a full week. They helped completely without batting an eyelash. I really cannot possibly say enough good things about this hotel and the staff. Every last person we interacted with was just amazing.

I’d stayed here before without issue.
Tonight, however (my third night in a ten-​night stay) my key card didn’t work to enter the building at any of the three entrances I tried.
At the front entrance, I held the «call» button for five minutes, with no result.
When I sat on the «call» button at the back the night manager did arrive and opened the back door, though she complained that I «only needed to tap» the button. If that were true, I would have come in the front, not the back.
What is the point of putting card readers on the doors if they don’t work to let you in? I’ve stayed at hundreds of hotels for thousands of nights and never experienced that.

As Holiday Inn Express facilities go, this one is a bit dated. It was acceptable though — comfortable and clean with the necessary amenities. The parking lot is a little wonky, with fewer spots than I think a hotel this size should have.
The breakfast was on par with other sites — hot and tasty with decent options. It’s not amazing, but it’s not supposed to be. It IS a Holiday Inn Express, after all.
They were doing a «Manager’s Reception» with a few free beers and some run-​of-​the-​mill appetizers from 5−7pm on Mon-​Thurs evenings, which is a nice touch.
I’d go back.

We had a good stay. The room was clean. The people were friendly. Everything was as you would want it to be.

Lake Norman of Catawba, NC
Just booked a non smoking room and they gave me a smoking room. There were no more rooms available. The staff was apologetic and tried to accommodate me by putting an air machine in the room. It only help slightly. Probably will stay somewhere else next time.

I’ve stayed here many ten times over the past two years but this was the last. This is one of the ‘newer’ Holiday Inn Expresses but they haven’t kept the hotel up and it shows in the rooms. The last room had a wet spot in the carpet — yuck!
The price is low for a reason — stay away!
