Definitely one of my favorite Durham restaurants! Amazing food and great presentation in a casual chic setting. The portions are very generous. We had a charcuterie plate, winter vege soup with roasted brocolli, pork belly with smoked cabbage and pears, saffron risotto with carrots, and cassoulet! Everthing was perfect. As a beer lover, I always try one of the house brews. Tonight, I had maple porter. Rich and smooth. Perfect for a winter night. Dessert was a rasberry Napoleon with rasberry sorbet, and a chocolate mouse with a layer of passion flower custard topped with crunchy chocolate pellets and chocolate gelato! What a meal!

Got no love from G2B on Valentine’s Day! My husband and I had been to this restaurant once before and enjoyed our evening there immensely, that when we decided to make plans for Valentine’s Day, G2B rose to the top of the list. And then we walked in the door… A little girl woman escorted us to our table which was located near the door. When my husband asked if we could be seated further away, she frowned, said she had to check, then left us for a few minutes and then returned to seat us one table over and still close to the door. When I asked if we could be seated at one of the two-seat tables across the room in this ENTIRELY empty restaurant she said she could not, that those tables were reserved. Huh. I said. We also reserved a table, so what difference does it make. She refused to budge so we sat. I fumed. Okay, I admit it. I couldn’t understand the logic of table reservation. Should I have called and said the specific table I wanted? Is that what all the other diners had done when they reserved their tables? I calmed down after a few minutes. Happy, you see, to be out with my husband on Valentine’s Day because he’s a wonderful man. Thank you, honey. The menu was not their normal menu. It was lackluster. I had a difficult time choosing something to select for my entrée. We considered walking out, but knew it’d be tough to get reservations on Valentine’s Day. While we tried to decide, another couple arrived, an older man and a woman who used a cane. That same little girl woman who seated us tried seating them across the room, but the man refused to make his disabled wife walk further and told her no, we’re sitting here and he sat down. She got kind of huffy, tried talking him into moving, but he sat his ground. My husband and I cheered him(quietly) at our table. One for the customer! I finally settled on a pasta dish that turned out to be tasteless and the mushrooms under cooked. My husband’s fish and chips looked much better and he said it tasted fine. The dessert menu was equally bland so we decided to leave without having any. And, oh, by the way, the restaurant was still half empty when we left. So, we’re not sure whether we’ll ever return. I do have one last word of advice for this restaurant: put some salt and pepper shakers on your tables… you’re really not that good at seasoning your dishes.

This place is a little out of the way of everything which I didn’t like a lot. They have mostly small plates to try, but pretty pricey. The staff was friendly. It wasn’t very busy. sort of a quiet laid back atmosphere, which is ok… but not what I what pick to sample brews or what I would think of as a brewery.

First and foremost: Apparently you should NOT use Unilocal to make a reservation as it is unreliable.(Despite my reservation that was further confirmed with text reminders, the restaurant had no idea who I was and even stated I shouldn’t use Unilocal for reservations.) Go through OpenTable. We enjoyed our experience… Started with a 3-pick meat&cheese, entrees were short ribs and scallops. The food was delicious. No complaints there. It was a little on the higher end price wise and it should probably be kicked up to a 3x$ description as a majority of the plates were around $ 25, add a drink, tax and tip you are easily over $ 30. But it was yummy and in my opinion worth it. Server was knowledgeable and was able to answer all of our questions. Nice selection of beers, both from g2b and other breweries. The seasonal offerings were fun to try. Will I be back? I dunno — it’s a bit of a trek from Holly Springs, but if I’m out that way then maybe.

Yes, 5 stars! g2b is our 1st Choice for local, seasonal, well-prepared menu w/high-low price options that can be paired with drinks or their beers brewed on-location. Simple ambiance, respectable staff and in/outdoor seating is reason we frequently choose g2b to relax and easily converse while imbibing. Enjoy!

I had never been to a gastropub before and had a lot of questions. Our server was so personable, calm, and willing to explain everything to me. I ordered the Fish & Chips which consists of tempura cod, grilled lemon, caper aioli and it was all delicious. I appreciated the small(normal except for America) portion sizes and there was great attention to detail in the flavor and the presentation. Afterwards I ordered a cappuccino and it was amazing. I couldn’t shut up about how good it was for the next hour! My only negative is that the bathroom wasn’t great. It didn’t seem to match the cleanliness and contemporary style of the dining area. Be sure to go here with people that expect an experience because it is not a Chew-and-Go kind of place. Come with an adventurous palate and a willingness to try something new!

I really liked this place the food was a little pricey but it all very good. I tried multiple things that the people I was with let me try, you can’t go wrong here. I had the NC Golden Tilefish — Fresh Corn Grits, Confit Potato, Piedmont Chanterelles, Meyer Lemon it was very very delicious and the first time I had Tilefish, I am now a fan. I also got a flight of beer that I highly enjoyed as well they had a good amount of options and I liked them all.

Tried a bunch of dishes here and everything was just mediocre or extremely salty. The charcuterie board was pretty standard. However, the shepherds pie was just mediocre. The salmon was extremely salty. Ambiance is nice. It was a good place to take our time, drink wine, and eat with friends. The food was just mediocre though.

G2b is well decorated! The place is dimly lit and well furnished with modern/edgy furniture. We were there on a Thursday night around 6 – 8 and the restaurant was never crowded. There were a few dinner parties around us, but the place was fairly empty for the majority of the night. Service was kinda mixed… I wasn’t very happy with the hostess and waitress we had. Honestly I’m rarely ever irritated or bothered by staff members and even if I am I figure they had a bad day so not worth mentioning in my reviews. However, our server tonight seemed tense the entire night and that affected the atmosphere… She was good about refilling our waters, but her attitude was a bit sour and it made enough of an impact that I’m mentioning it. But service was otherwise prompt and accurate, so I can’t really complain too much. The food was good, though a little pricey. We got the chips and dip appetizer, which was fried cauliflower with a guacamole?-like dip. It was quite tasty. We also got oysters, which honestly weren’t my favorite(I like my oysters cold and served on ice because it makes it taste fresher, and these weren’t that cold…). The oysters were served on salt rocks, butttt they were only $ 1 a piece so we ended up getting $ 20 worth for our party. my husband and I split a goat cheese pizza and the scallops. The pizza was pretty good and had arugula and big fragrant morsels of goat cheese, and the crust was pleasantly doughy. The scallops were a little salty though not overly so, with some wilted greens, sautéed cauliflower pieces, and raisins with a kind of sweet sauce and another lightly creamy sauce. Overall decent place. Many of our friends said this is one of their favorite places and honestly I don’t think we can say the same, but we will probably be back!

See my previous review for what G2BUSED to offer. I was much less impressed last time. They totally changed the menu into pretentious and expensive«small bites». I asked about the burgers they used to have and was told«we got rid of them to make it more gastropub and not just pub». Well, I’ve been to many gastropubs and many pubs. There IS a difference between a pub burger and a gastropub burger but I would say that have a gastropub style burger is part of what makes you one! They did open their own nano-brewery which was pretty good. But still, once my table sat and looked at the menu, we paid for our drinks and left. I’m really sad since it used to be my go to place for so long.

We actually came across G2B because there was a flyer left on the car windshield with the G2B menu and a voucher for a free beer flight. We drove about ten minutes to get there from the DPAC area and the location is a bit funny because it is in an office building and did not seem like there was much else around it. We arrived at around 10pm so we had an hour on a Friday nigh and sat at the bar. The tables were really nicely set up with water glasses and fancy beer glasses. It looked like they also had a live jazz band on Friday from 8 – 10 yet we had just missed them. There were still some parties seated finishing up their meals and it was a quiet setting. The bar is really modern looking with bright colors and sleek white chairs. There are also plenty of TVs. We tried the Beer Flight and it included 4 beers made from their own nanobrewery. There was a Red Ale, Citra IPA, Hefeweizen and another I can’t remember. The beers were very good and in case you don’t like the local drafts, they also have Belgian bottles and many other selections. We did not dine yet I did peak at the menu on the way out. The burgers were about $ 15 and the other entrees in their mid $ 20 range. I have also seen G2B on opentable and may come back to try the food now that I know where it is. Thank you to the marketing team for putting out those flyers and getting us to their gastropub.

I didn’t really know what to expect of this place, the reviews here are so mixed! But I gave it a try and am glad I did. Like others mentioned, it’s an unusual location, the kind of place you have to know about to even find. Walked in on a Saturday night at 7pm without issue. The décor is very chic and trendy, the lights all around the restaurant change colors every few minutes for various mood lighting. There’s an assortment of high top tables and regular dining tables. I also noticed 2 bars, 1 large one and then one smaller one by their brew kettles. The smaller one was not being used, though I’m sure it must get some use on busier nights. Their menu is limited to a single sheet of paper, with the option to pick from small plates(apps), gastro pub fare, entrees, and pasta entrees. Oysters are also available. They switch up the menu so you’re bound to have different options each time you visit, however, because of that the menu is not extensive. About 6 – 7 dishes under each category. Flights are $ 8 and you get to try 4 beers. The brewery’s own beer is actually pretty decent! I got the hefeweizen and loved it! As for the food, well I thought it was all very tasty. Not the best food I’ve ever had but definitely enjoyable! Food plating is pleasing as well. My boyfriend’s bratwurst dish came out in a small cast iron pot, adorbs! However, we both agreed my Sunbrust Trout was tastier, especially the pureed sweet potato it came on. We were way too full for dessert though. Service was not outstanding but definitely not bad. Curious how it would hold up during busy hours though.

I stopped by G2B for dinner last Friday night around 8pm and had no problems walking in for a table for 2. This was my first time at G2B, so I have no idea what the place was like under its former management, but there were definitely no burgers on this menu! I definitely agree with what some of the other Unilocalers have said, in terms of the menu being a bit limited and pricey. There were seven or so entrees listed, all of which were $ 20+. We ordered some oysters and cheese for starters, and a beef stir loin and pork two ways for entrees. They were okay — no more or less than I would expect for the price. The most pleasant parts of my meal were the unexpected«freebies.» Our meal started off with a complementary serving off beef tartare — the amuse bouche of the night. Their bread basket was really extensive: a flatbread, pretzel roll, and a wheat bread. With our check, they brought out two little coconut truffles. And finally at the very end of our meal, they brought out a to-go bag with some chocolate muffins. I’m not sure why they do these little perks, as I can’t imagine them being very profitable, but they were fun little surprises. I think the«new» G2B can best be summed up by a conversation I overheard one of the waiters having with another table. They are only allowed to play sports games on a little TV by the bar. On their other 3 TVs and projector screens, they had old Hollywood films playing. If you go to G2B knowing that this is the kind of experience you will have, I think you will be very satisfied. Otherwise, look to other options.

We came her Saturday for a birthday dinner, and since the last time we came in November, everything has changed for the worse in terms of what we expect of a self acclaimed gastropub. Before, you could easily spend $ 13 on a nice burger or flatbread, or you could get an entrée in the mid $ 20s range. Even though it’s a meat heavy place, me(vegan) and my partner(loves steak) could find a dish. Now, menu is exclusively items over $ 20, with a few small salads that were far too ornate. There was literally absolutely nothing on the menu I could have made vegan– usually I can get something like a side of veggies but there wasn’t anything like that. Sure, it’s not a place that vegans should go, but sometimes you have to, like a birthday dinner. In today’s food climate, you can’t have a classy place that doesn’t have anything but meat on a plate. My partner had«the steak.» He says that it’s customary to list the cut and the weight of the steak, otherwise you’re hiding something. While his steak was really good, for $ 27 he says you need to offer more information. Drinks are good — however I ordered a courvoisier, and they out it in too large of a snifter glass so it looked like nothing in it and the price was wrong -$ 10 for basically the lowest level of courvoisier with probably exactly one ounce pour. Finally, they moved our large party reservation from 8 to 9pm, but they definitely could have accommodated our party since the place was pretty thinned out when we arrived at 9. Overall, despite their great food, the menu is too limited and too divergent from the original concept of a gastropub and the place too fancy now for an office complex behind Target.

G2B is fan-freaking-tastic! It had been at least 2 years since I’d last been there, and after last night’s dinner I’m kicking myself for my long absence! We booked via OpenTable and had a spot right next to the bright, clean and open kitchen. I enjoyed watching the chefs hard at work, preparing deliciousness for us. Last night(Thursday) they were offering $ 3 drafts, so I took advantage of that. They also have an enticing cocktail and wine list. They have quite a few NC ingredients. We started with the Seared NC Yellowfin Tuna(sunchoke, green apple, nori, sweet basil), and they brought out a selection of housemade breads & crackers. The pretzel bread was perfection and the tuna was wonderful. I didn’t want to fill up on bread but one nibble wasn’t enough! We were then presented with a complimentary amuse bouche of warm soup. It was made with purple potatoes and I can’t recall what else but it was delicious! Then our entrees arrived. I loved my Sunburst Farms Trout(NC) with tuscan kale, petite turnips and horseradish veloute. LOVEDIT! My friend had the Atlantic Scallops with pork belly, beluga lentils, cauliflower, swiss chard and says the scallops were cooked to perfection. We had to skip dessert because we were heading to DPAC, but they still brought us out the next amuse bouche — chocolate coconut truffles AND they packed up cookies to go for us! Wow — awesome. I was thoroughly impressed and next time will allocate enough time to savor the full experience. FYI — they are playing live jazz on Monday nights 8−10pm. Don’t miss out!

Yet another gastropub. This one is good and consistent and true to the«gastropub» definition rather than the dime-a-dozen gastropubs these days that simply deep fry the shit out of things, add a few dollars to the price, and viola, call it a gastropub. I came here with three co-workers and all four of us ordered the burger. And we all enjoyed it. Massive and tasty. The patty is juicy and imparted a slightly smoked flavor which made it even better. The bun is soft but has enough texture to hold the massive masterpiece. Good selection of beers on tap and wines by the glass if you’re so inclined. Atmosphere: makes for a much better date spot than a dinner outing with four dudes =) Note: Not the easiest restaurant to spot from the street and it’s in an unassuming location.

A-maz-ing. What a special night. My hubby and I were in town for a business trip and followed Unilocal reviews to find this place. Our waitress, Nichole, was amazing. She absolutely exceeded our expectations; offering fabulous suggestions for beer, food, wine, and desert. We truly had a fun and festive evening and didn’t feel like we spent too much money. Thanks for turning our business trip into a romantic evening. We really appreciate the experience that you all provided.

Ok, I’m sold. Strange location, located at the rear entrance of an office building, but don’t let the obscure spot scare you away. We settled at the bar and enjoyed some local beers, as well as a couple rare bottled beers, and a negroni, which my dining companion said was one of the best he has ever had. I savored and enjoyed every precious morsel. My favorite and I ventured out for his belated birthday dinner. We started with the charcuterie plate. We got the«pick 3» with prosciutto, some variation of goat cheese, and guanciale. We also shared the cauliflower soup, which was creamy, frothy, and delightful. Beef chiccarons sizzled on our tongues and had a great flavor. Next came the heavy lifting: the pig head. WOW!(I’ll post a photo). It was plentiful and succulant. It was the only one they had sold that night, so other guests and even the wait staff were in awe. The restaurant gets only about 14 pigs per week from a local farm(Seven Springs farm, I believe) and they sell the head so that nothing goes to waste. I appreciate this! This was far from«a waste»! The chow chow is the recipe of someone’s grandma(either the GM or the owner, I don’t remember which) and it was gooood. There was also an apple kim-chi of sorts on the side. The pig was crispy and satisfying. I can’t believe how much of it we plowed through! This is the only restaurant in the Triangle that I know of who serves pig head. Somehow we saved room for dessert. Orange creamsickle, which consisted of: puff pastry, rose hips, quince, and satsuma, As a compliment, they brought us an additional dessert! They were both light and flavorful, and ended our meal perfectly. I enjoyed G2B immensely and I hope to return. The pig head is not for the faint of heart, and it was good, but I would like to try something else on the menu next time. Awesome dinner, guys!

Visited today for the Grand Opening of their new brewery. It’s a little difficult to find both in the car and out of it, but once you do you’ll be pleasantly surprised. The inside is beautifully decorated, but they had removed the bulk of the seating for the event today so I can’t say anything about the layout. Unfortunately I found everything I tasted to be average at best. I tried six of their(I assume new) beers and wasn’t impressed. I’ve had better at any number of local breweries and pubs. The pig’s head I had was almost entirely fat. The bread was over-toasted and too hard. The desserts were flavorless. The sweet potato soup was actually the best thing I had — it was hearty and filling, but doesn’t taste a thing like sweet potatoes. Unfortunately it is made with pork belly, which wasn’t made public and my vegetarian friend was very disappointed. The prices I saw seemed a little above average, and if the rest of the menu is like what I tasted they are too high for the product. They seem to be trying their hardest but I don’t think I’d return for either food or beers.

This place is NOT the same G2B gastropub as it was before. There is a new execuitive chef & the charcuterie chef is no longer working for G2B gastropub. I went previously when the Charcuterie chef was still there & when the menu offered a variety of delicious options. For example, I got a lamb burger, which was perfectly cooked while the group shared charcuterie. The BEST part of the OLDG2B was the charcuterie & bread board in my opinion. This time around, everything about the menu was pretentious. My husband got«sunburst farms trout» for $ 23, which was flavorless. My friend & I wanted to split small plates, which at the OLD gastropub you were delighted by the flavor & felt satisfied by splitting 3 – 4 small plates. We ordered the«French breakfast radishes» $ 7, «Salted Baked Baby Beets» $ 12, the ricotta Gnudi $ 14, Beef Tendon Puffs $ 7. For the price, the portions were too small & the food was poorly seasoned. The worst part was that the radishes were 4 small radishes on this large wooden plate & a hunk of butter. The salted beets tasted as if they were sitting in sour cream NOT a «yogurt curd» as advertised. If the food is going to be expensive(which I’m willing to pay), it has to be pure heaven in a bite. I did not want to order anymore terrible tasting food & pay anymore high prices. I LEFTHUNGRY The beer list is still great, but the overall experience was highly negative and very disappointing. I would drive out from Raleigh to go here & now I will not be returning. SO sad.

We ended up here on this Saturday night, unexpectedly. Our plans changed, and we found ourselves starving in Durham. Heading between Durham and Chapel Hill, Husband did a Unilocal search, and thanks to that and a GPS, we found G2B… yeah! I had certainly read reviews before and it was on my list of must-try places but being Durham-ignorant, I had no idea where it was. Good thing for a GPS, because we never would have just stumbled upon it. Luckily we were able to get a table for two.(which is really a table for four… BIG«small» tables. Comfy chairs. I managed to strategically place myself so I could watch the kitchen, which I find entertaining. We started by sharing an amazing arugula salad. Both of us loved this salad of spicy arugula, watermelon radish, toasted hazelnuts, asparagus, parmesan with a wonderful lemon herb vinaigrette. YUM! They also brought some very good bread and herb scones with butter. Finally, out came our beautiful G2B Burgers: gruyère, arugula. pickled red onion. garlic aioli with garlic fries. Both of us had ordered medium well, and we both got medium rare.(not sure if we were misheard or what, but we were too ready to eat them to complain). Very tasty, but I would have preferred more well done. I’m sure they would have thrown them back on if we had asked. Loved the combination of flavors, and the roll was super good as well. Fries… thin and wayyyy good! Neither of us wasted a one! Now, even though we were bad boys and girls and didn’t finish our burgers(we did however bring them home where they will make a perfectly delicious breakfast in the morning), we did decide it was necessary to try the Sticky Toffee Pudding. This was a generous serving well-balanced textures and sweetness… cold ice cream, warm pudding, some crunchies… really really good! Overall we had a great experience here, and prices for the quality are quite reasonable. Service was very good. Food came out at a leisurely pace, which can be good or bad depending on how starving you are.
