Extended Stay America – Durham – University

Sorry, but it’s awful. Here’s what they don’t tell you: no linen or housekeeping service unless you stay seven days. No kitchen stuff in the room unless you ask. Each fork, spoon, cup. The room smelled awful. Noise was unbearable. Avoid this place.

Tried to get a room for my sister in Durham. I booked online and filled out the online credit card authorization form. When she went to check in they wouldn’t process the payment because they hadn’t received the authorization form. I talked with the person at the front desk to try to get the issue resolved but they were rude and unhelpful. I told them never mind and to cancel the reservation and I’d find her a room somewhere else. Which I did, at the Red Roof Inn by Duke Medical, They were able to process the authorization form minutes after booking. Woke up this morning to find that Extended Stay America had charged me for the room. When I called them I learned from another rude and unhelpful employee that I had been charged for a no show. She agreed to refund the charge but I know it will take a few days for that to process. I’ve never had such poor customer service from a hotel. I’ll never stay in another Extended Stay America.

garbage can. Real nice room they call you after like 30 minutes see if you need everything real. NIce room gave me extra pillows very comforting. young lady brought me a can. Very nice good Hotel.

The internet is ok in speed. I have visited my friend here on a few occasions and her internet is pretty slow. The rooms are ok in size but she told me that they forget to even clean the room weekly and besides other extended stays clean out you garbage once every 3 days but these guys just clean it on the scheduled house keeping day which they keep forgetting. Because of this the rooms stink a little.
They have enough parking spots though and they are located right next to bcbsnc so good for people working here on short assignments who don’t have a car.

We stayed here for a few days when in Durham in the beginning. The «free» internet is slooow and very spotty. I couldn’t move my laptop even slightly or else i’d lose the wifi.
The place definitely had a certain smell to it, it definitely is not the kind of place i’d recommend. But at least it was cheap.
