I only went to try the margaritas, and they were not good at all. They taste like typical sour mix margaritas, nothing tasty about them.

Outstanding authentic Mexican with fresh flavors and ingredients. Came here late on a weeknight, has a cozy neighborhood vibe, had the amazing guacamole and chicken parrilla, so juicy!

This place surprised us! Driving home after a canceled flight middle of nowhere this place is great! The outside of this restaurant will tell you how good the food is inside. Guacamole was excellent, homemade. Everything was freshly made. It took a little while because it was freshly made but it was great!

I love this dive. The food is gourmet. The people that work there are very nice folks. They went out of their way to make us comfortable. I am in a wheel chair. The chef has some serious culinary skills. Excellent food, just excellent. Don’t be fooled if there are very few or even no one eating there. This is a great place. Some of the best Mexican food I’ve ever had. Now for my very favorite thing about this restaurant: They have paper towel dispensers on the wall at each table. I LOVED this because my wife likes napkins and I prefer paper towels. One more thing, this place has beautiful wood bar. The owners had to have put some serious money into this place. The tables have Corian tops. There is a lovely fish tank with salt water fish. There is more I could say, but I think you get the idea that I liked this place.

Don’t let the outside of this place deter you from trying it out. The food is fresh and delicious. Don’t miss the Pork tinga tacos or the Guacamole!

The place is not much from the outside but a completely different story on the inside. I sat at the bar on a Tuesday night and got to chat with the bartender, Eric. Eric was incredibly friendly and let me know that the food may take a little longer to be delivered because everything is made to order and not pre-made like at some other places. Eric also took the time to show me that if we ever want to come back for lunch that they have a simple burger and fries bar menu that is not listed on their website. The Girlfriend and I started with the Queso Fundido which was terrific. I ordered the pork loin burrito and my better half ordered the Tacos de Tinga. We came here because of the reviews on Unilocal and were not disappointed. The food was delivered in about 20 minutes and worth every second of the wait. My burrito’s tortilla was slightly grilled — just enough to make it perfectly crisp and easier to hold. A delicious Burrito packed with flavor that wasn’t a mess to handle. A+. What I found interesting is that this place wasn’t packed with customers on a weekday night, but the ones that were there seemed to all know each other. A few people arrived to pick up to-go orders and they knew the people that were at the bar and they also all knew Eric. If the locals deem this place worthy to be a regular at then they’re doing something right. Super friendly environment, attentive service, delicious food, and very reasonably priced. a Couple drinks(Margaritas are great here) an appetizer, and two specialty dishes came out to about $ 45 with tip included. This place is right around the corner from me and I look forward to coming back again soon.

Thank you fellow Unilocaler’s for turning me onto this place! The location of this restaurant is a bit in no-man’s land but we were visiting a friend in the area so we thought we would stop and have dinner here. It’s located at the end of a strip mall and the décor is casual. There were 5 of us all together and we arrived on Saturday night around 6:30. The place was empty but we were greeted at the door and shown to a table. We ordered a round of the Doña Margo-$ 7. A twist of the classic homemade Margarita, Fresh squeezed lemon, lime, pineapple, orange juices, Aged tequila and then hinted with citrus curacao. Served bright green with a sweet and fruity chili salt rime. Wonderful drink and everyone ended up ordering another. The bartender even brought out the extra after making them all, always a nice touch. We started with Guacamole– $ 6 for the table. Freshly made and served with home-made chips that were nice and hot. The waitress brought us out another basket of chips so we could gobble it all up. *Note they do not serve complimentary chips and salsa here. My husband ordered a bowl of Menudo-$ 10. A hearty tripe and hominy soup with chilies and an array of garnishes(white onion, cilantro, and lime wedges) AND a Chile Rellenos-$ 7. A vegetarian Mexican grilled poblano pepper stuffed with cheese, beans, and grilled vegetables. Served with a side of white rice and fresh tossed salad. I settled on the Tacos de Asada-$ 11.Three soft tortillas filled with tender grilled steak, pico de gallo, and avocados. Served with a side of Mexican rice. Everything was authentic and delicious. My brother ended up trying a Burrito-$ 9 and stated its one of the best he has had. You can tell this place is run by a family which is nice to see. Service was a little slow but judging by the food you can tell they take their time to make everything fresh. 6 mixed drinks and four meals set me back $ 100 with tip. I am a little concerned by how empty the place was on a Saturday night that it won’t be around for much longer so go try them out, you won’t be disappointed. They also serve Breakfast –Saturday 8am-11:30am and Sunday 8am-3pm, great for hangovers!

Excellent authentic Mexican fare with more flair than your average combo plate. While the outside is unassuming, even hard to find, the food makes it worth going inside. This is our new go-to neighborhood restaurant.

If you’re looking for authentic Mexican cuisine served in a great atmosphere look no further. El Coyote is hands down the best Mexican food around. Don’t be fooled by the location. The guacamole is among some of the best I’ve ever had. I’ve also tried several different menu items and have yet to be disappointed. The owners & staff are all super friendly. It’s also a great place to have drinks on a Friday night with a fully stocked bar serving everything from draft Bud Light to Moët. Trust me when I say you can’t go wrong with El Coyote!

Very good authentic Mexican food! We just moved to the area so we didn’t know much about it. We trusted the reviews we read and they were right! Very good food!!! Can’t wait to go again!!!

The salsas were fantastic and the refried beans were pleasantly good but I was not a fan of the tacos de tinga. I probably should have ordered the carne asada but did not want to pay $ 11 for it. The service was terrible as well. We were the only people in the restaurant section and it took a solid 10 minutes before our waitress came to take our order. The food took exceptionally long as well. The prices were too high and the service below-average.

Really good food with nice presentation and high quality ingredients. Not the average Mexican place. Service is rather slow, though.

Wow, excellent authentic mexican food. Salsas were awesome. Some of the best enchiladas de mole poblano I’ve ever had. Caldo de camaron was also superb. Can’t understand why we were the only ones there at lunchtime. Will definitely be going back.

El Coyote is to be avoided at all costs. It is no longer a decent place to get standard Mexican food. Here’s why: 1.) The hostess, who doubled as our waitress was completely inept, forgetful, and spent more time chatting up the guys at the bar than she did her job. 2.) They were out of EVERYTHING. We ordered three different types of bottled beers listed on the menu and each of them they didn’t have. And the Torta, which the waitress said was the best thing on the menu and recommended I get it, they were also out of, right after the she told me to order it and then she replied, «Oh actually we just ran out of the bread for the Torta – you’ll have to come back another time to try it.» 3.) The chips and salsa cost $ 2.50 which is not explicitly outlined on the menu. 4.) It took 35 minutes to get our dinner, and when it finally arrived, it was wrong. I ordered the Tortilla Soup(which I’d had before and liked), but what I got instead was a tomato based«creation» that was in the world’s shallow’s bowl for $ 7. My girlfriend’s dinner was missing several of the main ingredients that were listed on the menu, and had several new ingredients used in substitution, which can only be described as «interesting». 5.) The«basement» had been rented out for the evening so very loud bass coming from the floor. Very loud bass is an understatement. I will say the food is fresh and the presentation is good, but the indiscretions above cannot be overlooked.

It is so hard to find authentic Mexican Restaurants that actually have GOOD ingredients. I think this one is a winner:) We went to El Coyote Bar & Grill last Friday and feel in love with the place. ENVIRONMENT: Don’t be fooled by the exterior; the shopping center it is in has another Mexican Restaurant in it(Las Palmas), and the signage exterior design isn’t great BUT the food and interior is warm and welcoming. When we went at 8pm on a Friday, there was practically no one in there(one guy at the bar and one guy eating in a booth alone). We found this a bit strange but pressed on since we heard great things. I am glad we did! FOOD: We ordered the Guacamole for an appetizer(It is a #MUST). It came out like a work of art, and was the BEST Guac I’ve ever had. Seriously. I ordered the Tacos de Asada and My Fiancée’ ordered the Tacos de Tinga. Both were great, but I have to admit: The Tacos de tinga had more flavor. It was a little spicy so be warned(if you’re the type that needs that warning). DRINKS: We got the house margaritas and oh man— they were great! If you like your Margaritas flavorful(not any of that insta-green, sweet stuff), this is your beverage. Had a hint of Pineapple Juice, and not a lot, but decent amount of liquor. They were $ 6.50(reasonable) but on Mondays I hear they have for $ 4. Needless to say, we will be back on Mondays:) PRICE: Reasonable price, but if you are expecting the dirt cheap prices from your, «run of the mill» Mexican restaurants, this isn’t your place. It is really good food and just a little bit(not much) more expensive then those other restaurants. For two entrees, two drinks, and an appetizer– we paid around $ 40 without tip. OVERALL: I’d recommend this to anyone tired of your standard Mexican joint. The food is great, place is clean, staff is very, very nice and you get away with a good meal. I will be back again!

What a fun restaurant! We normally go to the neighboring Mexican restaurant, but we decided to try El Coyote on a whim one night, and it’s a good thing we did! I don’t know enough about Mexican food to say how El Coyote is different, but it is. The dish preparation seemed a little more artful, and the menu didn’t have the usual six-thousand different dishes; something I appreciate, since I value quality over quantity. Our server(a young lady whose name sadly escapes me) was absolutely delightful, and El Coyote has quickly moved up from«I need fast Mexican food» to «let’s go somewhere fun for date night!»

This place has very good food for reasonable prices. Like almost every new restaurant I try, I went here initially b/c I had a Groupon. I had the guacamole appetizer, which was some of the best I’ve had in the south. I’ve had some … interesting … experiences w/guacamole, since moving to the south. El Coyote’s guacamole is chunky and fresh, I could taste the fresh avocados, cilantro, and lime. Their chips are also very good, they’re thick, but not greasy or heavy. As an entrée, I had the mole. The chile and chocolate flavors were well-balanced, and allowed the flavor of the chicken through. The mole was served w/grilled veggies and Spanish rice. Both were good; the veggies needed a little salt and I’m not big on Spanish rice, but it was good. I ordered a flour tortilla to help w/some of the extra mole; the tortilla was good, light and fluffy. The décor inside is very nice and clean. I especially like the vertical, tubular fish tank in the front. The booths and chairs are comfy, the waitstaff is very polite and attentive. I have to speak out against reviewer Kirby P’s assertion that if you’re not«adventurous» this place might not be for you. There is nothing adventurous about the food here, it’s Mexican food done well. If this is your idea of «adventurous,» you’ve probably led a very sheltered culinary life. Give this place a try, it’s definitely worth it. My only complaint is that the TV in the bar area can be too loud, somewhat drowning out the jazz and other background music in the dining area.

I don’t want El Coyote thinking they are perfect but 5 stars is fair. Great service, and great food. Puts their neighbor to shame. Inside décor is lovely, But really guys, do something about your frontage, I never would have stopped if not for a referral. A few plants, some paint, some color. Can’t wait to return and write a more detailed review. Glad I live nearby.
