Ordered a birthday cake for my mom. Damn. It was legit. Chocolate layer cake with choc icing and vanilla filling. Everyone loved it. Bravo!

I came here looking for Straw Valley Café and discovered that it had been replaced by this place! Its a cute little café that sells budnt cakes and coffee, and still has all of the open seating from StrawValley outside accessible to customers. However, there is almost no indoor seating available. While I only got coffee when I went, the bundt cakes looked delicious and adorable. I will definitely come back and try some of the baked goods here!

Adorable little café and bakery tucked behind the New Hope Commons shopping center. I absolutely love stumbling upon small businesses like this one and seeing what unique ideas they have brought to life! The bundt cake idea is really cool — they serve large and miniature sized bundt cakes along with other baked goods like scones, cookies, crumb cakes, and danishes. All of the bakery items looked SO good, but I had just come from lunch, so I didn’t have much of an appetite to purchase more food at the time. Looks like I’ll definitely have to come back on an emptier stomach to savor these yummy goodies!(I did have a free sample of a coconut flavored cake, which was not too light or too heavy in texture, and with the perfect hint of coconut. I hope all of the baked goods are as yummy as this free sample!) I wound up ordering an iced chai latte, which the barista(who I’m assuming to be the owner of the establishment) said she worked months on in order to perfect the recipe. I must say — really good work because this chai was on point! It had the perfect amount of spice and creaminess that I love in my chai, and it was great that the concentrate was made in house rather than pre-made from a box. The barista was also such a pleasant person to talk to and really added enjoyability to my visit. The prices are higher than what I’m used to paying — over $ 5 for my chai latte, which was in a 16oz container. I guess that’s somewhat justified for Big Bundts being such a new establishment and all, but I really do hope that once it gets settled in, the prices can decrease a little. There isn’t much seating indoors, mainly just along the bar area and some seats outside. I saw a woman with her laptop working at the bar, so Big Bundts seems like it can be a good working space as well!(Didn’t inquire about the wifi status unfortunately.) Overall, I’m really glad that I came to check out Big Bundts today, and I’m so excited to see what this lovely store will accomplish in the future! Definitely a unique idea and delicious food/drinks!

I’m a HUGE fan of Big Bundts, but the limited hours make it hard to come by. So I was excited to learn the owner had taken over the former Straw Valley Café space and converted it into her own version of a coffee shop(stocking her cakes, along with other baked goods). The hours are far more accommodating, meaning you can stop in and get a goodie any day of the week. The set up is generally the same — long and narrow, with seats lining the countertop ‘bar.’ The menu offers a variety of drinks, with their signature being the Shakerato(a shaken-never-stirred iced coffee, available in latte, mocha, and frilly versions like salted Nutella). Since it was 500 degrees today, we opted for the mocha frappé and the moothie(a fruit smoothie). The former was made with Larry’s Coffee and, I’m assuming, heavy cream(we weren’t asked about type of milk, so I’m not sure if it can be made custom); it was a good bittersweet chocolate, but rather rich… the whipped cream topping sending it over-the-top. The moothie today, we were told, was blended with strawberries, peach, and banana. But mostly peach, I guess, because it had a very prominent orange citrus flavor. It also wasn’t fully blended, with chunks of frozen fruit at the bottom of the cup. I was happy to see two full-sized bundts on display, as well as bundtlettes and mini brownie bite bundts(there were also some scones, mini savory pies, and a rustic peach galette). Sadly, there wasn’t as much variety as I’d hoped for. And it looks like cinnamon buns are not a regular occurrence(I’d glimpsed these awesome-looking treats on their Facebook page and hoped they’d be available, but they are not featured on the regular menu.) We got one brownie bite(a little drier than usual, but tasty all the same — I love that frosting especially!) and one blueberry buckle(a surprisingly airy cake with fresh blueberries, a jolt of cinnamon, and a dusting of powdered sugar). There were a few cellophane packaged items like the Little Debbie cake lookalikes, and oatmeal cream pies. I got one of the latter to go; unfortunately, it was my least favorite… overly sweet with a stiff inner frosting. As far as savory items, they seem to offer a single item that changes daily — today it was a spinach and tomato pie. The young girls on staff were super-nice and apologetic about the wait(they only have one blender at this time). I think the place is off to a good start. But I do hope they’ll broaden their selection of bundtlettes and consider adding more savory items to the menu.

Such a hidden gem ! I have been driving passing by this place millions of times but never had the chance to try their bakeries. Why? Cuz Unilocal kept telling me that the stores opens from 10am –2pm which is not true at all! I was there around 3 and the store is open for sure! Damn, the inaccurate information kept me from this wonderful and delicious for 2 year! Location: in the strawvelly. When j got there, the owner told me that they actually gonna move to the next time, which is brilliant! Why? Cuz the store is small and sketchy. I don’t think it will be good to attract customers to come and eat. That brings the next session I am going to talk about. Service: the store is small so no outdoor seating or even indoor seating. That means the store is good for to-go service and online order service. But I do recommend you to talk to the owner, who is nice, friendly and talkative. While I talked with her, I felt she’s very optimistic and I believe she kinda brought that feelings into her bakery Bakery: I had mini brownie and their cupcakes. The brownie is covered with one of the smoothiest chocolate on top of it, making me wanna eat more. Also, I have to say their cupcakes are the best I have eaten in triangle area. Even though it was frozen in the fridge, the cream is creamy but not overly sweet. The texture of the cake is well balanced. I am never a fan of cupcake but I am definitely a fan of her cupcake. Oh, they are not even traditional cupcake. The cream is inserted in the middle of the cupcake, which is a good design and makes cupcake tastes better. Overall: 10 stars! Huge shout out the the owner and I promise I will come back to their their cookies.

I’ve had Big Bundts many times at the Chapel Hill Farmer’s Market and they are scrumptious! Plus Kristen does seasonal variations of this and that and they are always heaven. Her pumpkin seed brittle is to die for. Her little chocolate brownie bites are just wonderful. I always do my best to try her new creations and am never disappointed.

I’m really disappointed. Unilocal says they’re open, the sign on the door says they should be open, there is nothing on their website or phone message that says perhaps they didn’t come to work today because of impending snow. After driving around for a while trying to find this place, I made it before 2pm yet the door is locked, the store is clean and the lights are off. As for the cakes… i was given a sampling of them a week or so ago, but i ate them the next day… dry. So i wanted to come and get a fresh cake to see if what i had was just too old to eat and now i have nothing to compare them with. Oh… and it’s not even remotely snowing yet, so i don’t understand why they’re not open when they are supposed to be when there’s no note on the door :( Now at least i know how to find them, but only being open a quick 4 hours in the middle of the day… I’m not sure I’ll be giving them a second thought.

We stopped by after a class at RIDE. Delicious bundt cakes(we shared the mini lemon). What an interesting and yummy twist on the local baked goods market.

Excellent bundt cakes in different sizes from bite to muffin to full size. Store hours vary –generally 9 – 2 but sometimes evenings too the owner said.

I’ve visited the store twice and both times were incredibly good! The first time I visited to share with coworkers. We split the chocolate brownie, lemon pound cake, and the butter crumb. All were equally as good if you ask me, however my coworkers enjoyed the chocolate brownie because it was a very moist and rich chocolate.(Due to also being topped with a chocolate ganache). I preferred the texture of the butter crumb. It has a salty/sweet taste in the«crumb topping» that is accentuated by the butteriness of the cake. I love more complex flavors while others may prefer the simplicity of the lemon. The lemon was also an excellent choice simple and good, not too dry as some pound cakes can be and not as moist as the chocolate. All around it was great and I have been back once and will go again. The only down side is the store closes at 2:00 p.m.

The owner was so nice! Seriously, Kristen was awesome. The store front is a bit hard to find and has somewhat odd hours because I think a lot of her jobs are catering. I discovered the place while at Straw Valley Café one day(they also sell Big Bundts bundts there now). I dropped in to get a lemon mini bundt cane(bundette?), but they all looked delicious. And it certainly was delicious. The cake was wonderful – unlike a cupcake the actual cake flavor wasn’t obscured by mounts of icing. The cakes are really cute and come in all sorts of flavors. For a party/shower, I think this would be a great alternative to cupcakes! The store front(same shopping center as Straw Valley Café and Pomegranate Kitchen – entrance through the Wal-Mart/Barnes & Noble parking lot), which is sort of difficult to find, but they also have a neat website for online orders: .

I’ve only been here once thus far, but I know I’ll be back! The owner is an absolute delight, and the bundtlette that I had(Pumpkin!) was absolutely delicious. I don’t imagine that anyone who stops in here will be disappointed. I’ll have to update my review once I’ve had the chance to try a few of the other flavors… but as far as I’m concerned, the price, quality, and location are all perfect! She does wedding favors too, did you know? How cute! Definitely check this place out. :) A bit hard to find, but definitely worth it… and there’s great outdoor and indoor seating all around, thanks to Straw Valley.

I like BIGBUNDTS and I cannot lie! I *really* wanted to write that line. Actually, I have only had a bundtlette and a screaming scone, at straw valley right next door. These bundt cakes are adorable, moist and yummy. And the SCONES! Best I have ever had… lemon rosemary, you are responsible for adding at least 4 extra pounds to my big bundt this spring. Apparently they have been in operation for a while at the Chapel Hill farmer’s market, but I’m excited to check out their new location in the Dirty D! With a name like Big Bundts, how could they NOT succeed?
