Today I had an appointment to get my lashes done. It’s something I’ve wanted to do for a while, and I’ve recently seen several of my coworkers sporting them who all got their lashes done here and had fantastic results. I was prepared by the woman I spoke with over the phone that a first time appointment would last about two hours, and was told to come early and without any eye makeup on so that I could fill out paperwork and be ready for my appointment time. I arrived about 10 minutes prior to my appointment which was plenty of time, and was greeted both by my lash expert & the receptionist, both of whom were very friendly and made me feel at ease when I arrived. After filling out a pretty self-explanatory packet(have I ever had lashes before, have I ever been allergic to lash adhesive, etc), I was then shown the different styles of lashes that I could choose from. I was then shown to a restroom and instructed to wash my eyelashes and eyelids off with their antibacterial foaming cleanser to remove any oil or makeup residue that might have been on my eyes, and told which room to go into. Here’s what you can expect your first time: LOTS of tape is involved. You will at times wonder if you are actually being experimented on by aliens. Yes, I’m kidding. Not about the tape though. Your lash expert will first put some kind of little adhesive pad on your bottom lashes which is super awkward at first(but not at all painful), and then will begin the process of taping your eyelid down so that it is taut enough that he or she can see all of your lashes to attach your extensions to. The application process of the lashes itself is easy. Once you get used to that feeling of having the tape on your eyelid, you forget its there and can just relax. The only part that was mildly surprising was when my lash expert had to «separate» lashes that wanted to stick together. It again was not painful but it was the first time I could actually feel something happening on my actual lashes. Now, let me get onto the review of my lash expert. I do not know how to spell this man’s name which makes me feel awful as if I am not doing him justice, but for the love of god could someone please give Derek/Derrick/etc a gold freaking medal in lashes? Not only was he extremely prompt(which I appreciate since I am in a similar industry for work) but he had a very charming and fun personality which made the time I spent with him in the room extremely enjoyable. But we ladies don’t go to places like Amazing Lash Studio to have good conversation, so let me just tell you that when I saw my lashes I could’ve kissed him straight on the mouth. They are PERFECT, and I mean PERFECT! Not only that but he was extremely efficient and quick and my appointment definitely did not take him the full 2 hours. I was with him for about an hour and 20 minutes in the room getting lashes applied. If you come here, try to get Derek/Derrick/etc, he was wonderful. If you are using any oil-based products on your eyes currently, their product line might be something you’ll want to invest in. I could not afford to spend the money on both lashes + tip(I tipped $ 20 for a full set for those of you wondering how much to tip) AND product, so I decided to hold off on product. The reason why is because for the first 48 hours after your lashes you cannot touch nor get them wet at all, so product I figured could wait. However as I said, if you’re using products that are oil based or have alcohol or anything in them that might break down the adhesive, they have an entire line of cleansing pads, mascaras, lash & brow gel, etc, that are all water based and meant to be safe with your new extensions. I had a really positive experience here and will definitely be back in 3 – 4 weeks for a fill.
