Best store we experienced during our brief stay in Durango. Young man with dark hair spent ample time with us and the purchases I made reflected it! Wonderful blends. Could not be more pleased and when I am ready to replenish, I shall order online from this excellent store. Thank you!

Ok, coolest place in Durango you can go. Nice upbeat music. Take the middle booth and sit in chair away from red wall. Relax, close your eyes, enjoy the beat, and let the Oolong drive you down.

I LOOOOVETHISPLACE! Tea tasting, good vibes, activated teas and herbal elixers, yummy all around. Walter has great energy and was the perfect tea man for me! I got a Spiritual Purification tea and mixed it with Love Potion #10, so it was a wonderful mix of hot chocolate(serious cocoa) and spiritual expansion.

Really liked this place. I needed to stock up on tea and there was great selection. The staff was super friendly and very very helpful. Also had a nice little selection of tea pots, cups etc… Very happy with everything that I purchased :)

Great place. Our second time here and love it! The chocolate elixirs are new since we were here last year, and are to die for!

We wandered in here one afternoon on our trip and really enjoyed it. The shop is cute, lots of items, reminded me of Boulder. The tea room in the back was our aim though and it was fun! We started with looking over the loose leaf teas available and then decided to try a few cups(range in price from around $ 3.50−4). The tea master was very friendly, don’t be afraid to ask questions! Sitting at the bar is even better, we got to sample a few other teas and he showed us more varieties and told us how to prepare the teas. Just realize its a bit hippyish and casual and enjoy. You will pay at the front when you are done.

Five Unilocal reviewers glowed about this place — 55-star reviews, so I thought we absolutely had to try it. It proved to be interesting. We came in and though we looked rather lost, didn’t get a whole lot of guidance. Two men were sampling teas behind the counter, chattering to themselves a lot about flavors and textures. We sat down, they told us to let them know what we wanted, and we proceeded to look over the menu of hundreds of teas. In retrospect, I really wish I had asked for some guidance. After they took their noses out of their own teas and we got bold enough to interject and ask some questions, the experience got a lot better. If I had asked him to choose a tea for me, I’m sure I would have been much happier. What you should know is that these guys are true tea connoisseurs. And if you are anything less, you may not have fun here. I, for one, was hurting for a packet of sugar. Of course, these guys wouldn’t dream of overpowering the leaf with sugar! When we talked about that, he did say he had some in the back that I could use if I needed it, but it was clear that there was a right response and a wrong response to that offer ;) If you’re into a pretentious tea scene and want to hob-nob with some guys who really know their leaves, then this is for you. If you deign to taint your tea with sweetener, or if, god forbid, you’re not that much into tea at all, you might just skip it.

This is the best boutique in Durango, without a doubt. During my three day stay, I stopped here twice, and had to really exercise some self control in order to prevent myself from buying EVERYTHING! They have lots of great jewelry and art from local artists, and great girly gifts for completely reasonable prices. The women who work in the shop are incredibly kind and helpful — I just can’t say enough great things!

The tea selection here is amazing. I’d learned quite a bit about Chinese tea at a teahouse in Denver, and was pleasantly surprised to learn that Michael, the purveyor, knew as much as those tea owners and was a super cool host to boot. I highly recommend this tea experience for anyone – those new to tea as well as those who have already refined their tea tastes.

We quite literally stumbled into this little shop while shopping for the afternoon in Durango. This tea paradise is hidden in the back of a retail store and is a gem in downtown Durango. I’m a tea neophyte, and usually stick to my bags of grocery store green tea and the occasional pot when out for Japanese food. Since I had no idea where to start, Michael(the owner) acted as tea sommelier and helped guide us to a few pots that suited our tastes. If you have a chance to sit down and read his descriptions of each tea I’d definitely recommend it! Not only is he a really cool guy but he’s a gifted writer and reading each description of his teas made me wish I lived closer so we could come back and try each one! The entire room felt so calm and relaxed and it’s not an exaggeration to say that I’ve definitely been enlightened as to the many benefits and subtleties of tea. If you are a connoisseur or a newbie, this team room is a great place to while away an hour or two.

This was the perfect stop on our site-seeing day in Durango. We were cold and tired and stopped to get something warm. Little did we know we would find a hidden treasure! The tearoom is a casual and very friendly place where anyone can feel at home and new customers can soon become old friends. Michael was so knowledgeable about different types of tea and how it is grown and picked. He had a wonderful selection of Japanese and Chinese teas of different types. We started with a delicious Gen Mai Cha and then switched to an amazing premium Matcha tea where we were taught many of the customs of a Japanese tea ceremony. He was able to help us fill our senses with the delightful brew and we enjoyed our tea to its fullest and we shared with a new friend we met there. We finished with an earthy Chinese Pu-erh tea. The tiny shop is clean and cozy. The space was very small but that helped add to the ambiance because everyone becomes part of the same experience and the owner is able to give everyone his full attention which could not be accomplished in a larger space.

Wow! Talk about an experience. I recently visited family in my hometown and serendipitously stumbled across this hidden gem nestled in the back of «There’s No Place Like Home.» Michael Thunder was already attending to customers but quickly tended to us and made us feel like everyone present had come in as one large group. All of the teas he provides have background stories that are complemented by Mr. Thunder’s extensive knowledge and warm spirit. My girlfriend had never had a chance to try a fresh matcha tea so he invited us to return the following day. Even though he was busy preparing an Oolong tasting he squeezed us in the following day and let us try two different grades of matcha, very reasonably priced. He has a extensive selection of fresh loose leaf tea that you can either purchase in 2 oz sizes or he can brew you a fresh cuppa while he tells you a little bit of the history of the tea. The fresh cups are reasonably priced and you might find yourself staying a lot longer than you anticipated. If you are visiting Durango, then I would highly recommend stopping in for a cup. You will get an experience that rivals any tea room experience in a big city. If you are from Durango, you have to add this as a place to regularly stop by, unwind, and learn about the many different varieties of tea. The one thing that I can be critical about is that where it provides top marks on experience and atmosphere you should not expect super comfortable seating arrangements. The space is small(will fit about 6 comfortably). Michael has done an excellent job creating a calm and relaxing environment given his space constraints. Lastly, the tea room features a small art gallery which will change over time. When we visited there were small vases with script on them. He told us that if you were to wash these vases the script would also wash away thus capturing the Buddhist sense of impermanence.
