Surprisingly good sushi in Dunn, NC. I know what your thinking, you don’t believe me but give it a try. Seems fresh and my sushi chef was as good as you get in rural NC.

I wouldn’t eat anywhere else in the run down town of Dunn besides here ! The portions are very generous and so good and you are seated promptly and the service really is great ! The sweet carrots that come with some of the dishes are HUGE and they are so good ! You really get what you pay for here and I’ve always left pleased and full after every visit and I visit a lot !!!

This place was amazing! Kind of shady when you arrive and you’re scared to go inside, but once you come inside you will be amazed. I got the New York Roll and it was sooooo yummy!!! My husband got the C-Roll and the Boston Roll and they were both amazing as well. I would recommend this place to anyone who is looking for good and affordable sushi. All of the rolls we got were cooked, so I can’t wholly speak for the uncooked sushi but based off everything else I would bet my bottom dollar that it’s good too. And the only reason I gave this place a 4star instead of a 5star was because I didn’t try anything else. What I tried defiantly got a 5star though!!!

We walked in with a party of 6 on a Saturday night and were seated immediately. Service was friendly and fast. The portions were large and flavorful, and the protein options were cooked well. My son ordered the kids shrimp and the amount of shrimp was very generous. A very good find!

We were in Dunn for Campbell Classic women’s golf tournament. We actually went to Heath’s at first but it was closed on Sunday. We decided to try Yamato. Great choice. There were ten of us and we were seated right away. The service was great. All the food was fresh and very tasty. The portions were large and the price was good. The«box» menu is the way to go, you get a great variety of food.

This is one of the best places to eat in Dunn! Everything I’ve tried here over the years is good. I’m not very«adventurous» with sushi, but the Jumping Roll(crab, cream cheese and cucumber, tempura style) is my favorite thing.

I just recently was in the area and went to try this restaurant out again, some of the sushi was okay but nothing fantastic and the other two rolls I got didn’t have any taste. I also orders scallops to go for my husband and it tasted like water. There were no seasoning on it. The only plus was the owner gave us the wifi password for my son and the broth soup was good. My family’s food came about 45 mins before my sushi did which kind of defeated the purpose of eating as a family.

Yamato is in a shady looking strip mall in Dunn, NC. This means there is plenty of parking and the food prices will likely be lower. Food — Teriyaki Chicken Lunch Bento Box: It was kind of weird that they served fried rice instead of white rice. They must be catering to the Panda Express type crowd. The fried rice was very soy sauce heavy. Something was off about it. The rest of the bento box was great. The chicken was moist and flavorful. The egg rolls were crispy and had a good filling/skin ratio. The carrots were nice as well. The Spicy Roll Combination was ok too. They definitely put a lot of rice on the sushi, and the fish wasn’t incredibly fresh. But it’s better than your food court sushi and it was definitely filling for $ 15. Overall, it’s an OK spot to satisfy your asian food cravings when traveling from Florida to Boston via I-95. Dunn dunn dunn dunn.

It nice to have a place for sushi in Dunn. It’s a hidden gem. And like other reviewers said. Don’t let the strip mall exterior fool you. Try the red dragon roll

This gets 3 stars due to it’s location. Any other geography with selections, variety and competition would get 2, at best. The hibachi is okay, but super salty. The sushi is edible, but lacks imagination, and is mostly rice. Service is usually fine.

First off the place doesn’t look like a restaurant from the outside, maybe it’s just the run down shopping center it’s located in. Plus the thrift store next door doesn’t help when they have all their things out on the side walk. Inside it’s nicely decorated and looks about like the rest of the Japanese places around. I’ve never had any issues with food, I think the hibachi steak is pretty good every time. The portions are really large. Service is hit or miss, just depends on when you go and who you get. Overall not a bad place, really good for Dunn.
