I am surprised Tipicos Olga was not on Unilocal. After all, they are the 2012 award winner for the ‘Fastest Pupusa’ at the Festival de la Pupusa in New Jersey(generally a great El Savadorean street party with lots of food and music). This tiny restaurant, just off the Dunellen central business district, shines as an impeccably maintained star. The colors are the deep cobalt blue and white of the Salvadorean flag, painted neatly across everything, counter to tables, even to the outdoor café umbrellas. Olga and one or more assistants deliver on a satisfying menu of traditional Salvadorean dishes such as pupusas(stuffed corn cakes) and tamales, complemented with a good selection of meat, chicken and fish main dishes. Prices are reasonable and portions are generous. A lunch of Pupusas with a drink will cost about $ 5, and main dishes are slightly more. It’s a great little place for breakfast or lunch.
