In the past, I’ve always ended up here at the end of the night but today we decided to stop in here first for a couple of drinks before heading next door for dinner. There were three of us and we sat inside at a table because it was just too oppressive to sit outside. We first all had Lemon Pound Cake martinis($ 7). This drink tastes just like its name and the glass was rimmed with sugar. My only complaint for this drink was it could have been served a bit more chilled. Other than that, it was refreshing and sweet. I also ordered a St. Pete Distillery Gin and Tonic($ 8.50). I had to point out to the bartender where he kept the gin when he started to make it. The reason for three stars was primarily for the service. For starters, the service was not great. We had to go to the bar to order and even then, that was difficult to do. When I went up to pay for the second round, the bartender automatically added the first round to my card and then told me afterwards. It wasn’t until the end when a waitress actually walked by and asked us if we needed anything.

The Chic-A-Boom Room is a Main Street staple and one of my favorite places to go when in Dunedin. The bar is always busy, the crowd is nice, and the drinks are top notch. The«CaB» room is connected to Kelly’s restaurant and Blur nightclub so you can mingle your way through food, live music, a pool game, 2 outdoor patios, and a dance club without ever stepping foot back on main street. They have the largest selection of craft beer and cider I have ever seen at any establishment with the exception of a liquor store. Martinis and margaritas are delicious and strong. On occasion they will have a very talented character artist come through and he will draw your picture for a small fee. I liked mine so much I hung it up.

3 stars for now because we just stopped in for a quick beer. The bartender was prompt in greeting us, despite it being pretty busy. We sort of threw our beers back kind of quickly, closed out and hit the road. I will do a full evaluation when we stay longer and possibly eat. The patio out back was big and well-shaded, and is where the bulk of the guests hang out.

This place is just okay. It’s usually the last stop of the night after we have had fun and drank at other places. This being because the drinks are completely over priced for the quality. The past two experiences ordering one of their signature martinis, the mixtures and syrups used were completely frostbitten or expired and tasted disgusting. The bar inside is always too packed and the bar outside isn’t much better. The dirty martini made inside is always well done however. They make it extremely difficult to get a glass of water, which is not responsible battening, and the bartenders get all disappointed that it’s just water you’re ordering. Even after spending money on other drinks. The bathroom is always a mess as well. The ladies room barley has toilet paper or paper towels. If they do, it’s usually wet from rolling around the ground a few times. All-in-all it’s a typical stop on the pub crawl of Dunedin some nights because it’s there and we don’t order much while there. A great feature is that Blur is right next door/connected so dancing is available and then going back to Chick a Boom is an option to take a break from the loud music of Blur.

Cute bar and restaurant in a narrow space. The front area is a full bar and restaurant with a few booths and as you follow the hallway back it opens into a larger open air but covered eating area with another bar. Great for viewing a game or meeting with friends. When it is busy, it is pretty much help yourself by ordering drinks at the bar and then taking them back to where you are sitting and food done the same way. Service was pretty much absent but the staff was friendly when you did speak with them.

A group of us were visiting Dunedin and stumbled in here around 9 on a Saturday night. The place got busy really quick, but the service didn’t miss a beat. Our server came by every few minutes to check on us. The prices of the drinks were very fair, especially when compared to prices in South Tampa. The real highlight was the performer. Just a man and his guitar, but he interacted with the crowd, was a great musician and was funny throughout. We’ll definitely be back to catch him and some good local beers.

I came here on Halloween with some friends and upon arrival we were greeted by a female security guard who was very polite. She was managing the door very quickly, keeping the line moving. There’s literally only one door to enter and exit so I felt like she was conducting traffic lol. Entry fee was $ 10 per person… a bit high but whatever. The bar top itself wasn’t that busy. Everyone had drinks in their hands and maybe one or two people were waiting for their drink. The female bartender who was dressed up like a mermaid(I think that’s what she was lol) was rude. She didn’t acknowledge me whatsoever. She could have said, «Hi! I’ll be with you shortly.» Or just a hello in general. Finally, after waiting almost 10 minutes I ordered my drink. I didn’t bother to order another because I didn’t want to spend my entire night waiting at the bar.

This is a nice place to go for some drinks in downtown Dunedin. I’ve had martinis here before, but last night I just had a glass of wine. It is a good sized glass for the price. Sometimes they have live music and other events. Last night no one was playing when we were there, but some members of the Dunedin High Celtic band(I think, they were all high school age) came in and played a couple tunes out back. They had dancers with them as well. It was a cool experience that is pretty unique to Dunedin. The Chic-A-Boom-Room is attached to Kelly’s so they also serve food. I think of it more as a bar though myself. I have never eaten while at CAB Room but I have eaten at Kelly’s so I assume the food is good.

They allow smoking inside. Gross. And the DJ was terrible. Otherwise it’s a nice little club next to Kelly’s. And a fun mix of people.

Really interest sting and strong cocktails– there’s a bloody Mary type martini with bacon in it! Live music is generally good and super friendly bartenders and waiters!

So I have never been to the Chic-a-Boom Room for the nightclub experience, but I have been here for happy hour on numerous occasions. They have a nice area inside with a bar and high tops and a great, large covered patio outside. I have always received nice, friendly service here and they typically have good specials around happy hour time. The patio bar pours a strong gin and tonic and we always leave happy.

I would NEVER go back to this place or any other place owned by the same group of which I was told there are 5 bars in Dunedin all managed by the same people and staff. We will tell all of our friends including the several other bar owners and hotels to spread the word. After arriving in Dunedin last night(St. Patrick’s day), we walked down the street and came upon the Chic-A-Boom Room. My wife, my friend and I went in after being charged a $ 3 cover charge. Everyone at the door was very nice. When we walked up to the bar, the bartenders with what looks like a spine tattooed on her neck and back was one of the most rude persons I have ever met. She had an extremely bad attitude and snapped at us asking what we wanted to drink, then I guess forgot the order 2 times as she would walk away and then yell back«Hey, Hey you, what did you want» then asked 3 times on one of the drinks«on the rocks or straight up» of which she was also told the answer 3 times. I understand she might have been tired, or had a bad day or something but there was no reason to be rude. My friend paid the $ 37 tab for 3 drinks and did not tip her as she was so rude. When she saw no tip on the bill she called my friend an assho**. When he explained he did not tip her as she was so rude and she should have a better attitude she spouted out some other things we did not hear clearly. He asked to speak to a manager she said there was not one. We moved by the window and had our drinks in peace or so we thought. While we were drinking our first drinks of the night, the three of us began talking to two girls also sitting by the window and telling them how rude the bartender was. For the next round my friend asked one of the girls to order the round as the bartender was continuing to be rude and was still very upset she did not give a tip the first round. She was all smiles with that girl but when she found out the round was for us also, she proceeded to continue calling my friend an assho**. The drinks were put on the bar and the next thing we know security was asking us why we were trying to skip out on the bill. The first round had already been paid for the second bill was not even given to us yet and the bartender told security we did not want to pay our bill and were going to try and skip out. This is completely untrue and in fact by that time the bill was sitting there to be paid with a credit card in it that the girl who ordered the drinks put in the folder. No one tried to skip on anything and this was a complete fabrication by the bartender in retaliation for the tip she did not get nor deserve on the first round. At that point we were handed the credit card slip to sign(and leave another tip) and asked to leave the premises as the same bar tender was screaming that she got screwed out of her tip. When we tried to explain what happened the security person(about 5 foot tall guy with black hair) said«it did not matter get out» He then announced over his radio that there are 3 people that need to be removed from the bar. The two girls we were talking to were very uncomfortable one was trying to calm down the bartender and then they left at which time the 5 foot tall guy started saying over the radio that we needed to be removed as we were making other customers leave. Again totally untrue. The guy also called for«reinforcements» of which I believe one of the security guys mouthed the words«Sorry» to us. This all happened very fast — like 4 to 5 minutes, and we did nothing wrong but not tip a rude bartender which is our right. After the second round the bartender was screaming to anyone that would listen that my friend was an assho** and she got screwed as he didn’t tip her and that he needed to be thrown out. At this time the manager finally showed up and asked what happened and we explained. She then said we have the right to refuse anyone service, she also said that the bartenders expect a tip on St. Patrick’s day. My friend said a tip is for doing a good job, and is optional. She got none as she was rude. On the second round she took being rude to an entirely new level. The Manager said she has not spoken to the staff yet but if security wants us out we have to go. Not at any time did we show any aggression towards anyone. The 5 foot tall guy said as we were heading to the door, either we leave or he is going to throw us onto the street. He then proceeded to say across his radio to the other bars and security staff«Do Not let a group of three in under any circumstances» as we would try and cause trouble. We will be easy to recognize as the tall guy looks like a Hollywood tour guide. We know many longtime residents in the local Dunedin area, including the founders of the City as well as many promoters and«A» list performers and will make this story known. If the owners were there, shame on them. In my opinion all involved(The bartender, the security guy and the manager) should be fired as they behaved absolutely ridiculous.

Small space perfect spot for happy hour drinks. This place is always crowded on the weekend right next to blur so people tend to bounce from one to the other. The drinks are pricey and on the night I went rather weak. If you are looking to hangout and don’t mind being squished on a Saturday night this is the place for you.

This is quite a nice place to hang out. I like the bar up front and the patio in the back. The mixed drinks are very good. My only gripe is it gets so loud on the back patio that it is hard to hear people talk.

Embrace«Chic-A-Boom» for all that it is! It is the glue between Kelly’s and Blur! You have the main bar room with a view of Downtown Main Street Dunedin. You have the back patio bar that is killer and shared with Kelly’s tables for sit down eating! There are sevaral HDTVs that show sports and cable movie channels. Yeah, you can totally watch the games of your choice here! It’s also a place for us locals and visitors alike! The specialty is mixed drinks with martini choices galore! I’ve been to parties, various celebrations, and even a political candidate’s vote count party here! I love the Florida bar atmosphere here and always know I will have good time. Come to Dunedin? You have to hit Chic-A-Boom!

So, I left my credit card here after a long day of drinking at the beach on 4th of July. When I came back to pick it up a couple of days later, I was surprised to not get a receipt to sign and tip on or at least just giving me my total. When I asked, they said they added 20% to any cards left behind. So I figured ok, sounds good. A couple of weeks later I decided to look at statement and they charged me $ 20 on a $ 78 tab. I know my calculus is rusty but 20% of 78 is ~$ 16 not $ 20! I know if I would have remembered to sign out before I left I am sure I would have given more than 20%, but the fact that they decided to do it themselves definitely annoys me since it is quite shady. Be warned, make sure you sign your tab and double check it!

This is the most happenin’ nightclub in Dunedin, which though it is not saying much, they really do try. There are 4 connected bars with dancing, different music, billiards and 10 bars among these areas. Good place to be at night especially on weekends if you are into crowds and clubbin’. Also they are very gay friendly, so if it makes you uncomfortable you should probably steer clear. But if you’re gay, it’s probably awesome. There’s a lot of PDA’s here.
