Have always enjoyed all the Frenchy’s locations but this one fell way short last night. I went with my old favorite buffalo grouper sandwich and the piece of grouper on my sandwich was paper thin and fried to death! Very disappointed. Will continue to go to other locations but not this one.

Incredible nachos. Plenty to share. Good service. Great atmosphere. Loved the live music, but felt it was extremely loud.

The hostess staff were excellent and very friendly! Our waitress, Ashley, was on top of things and took very good care of us. Since this was Father’s Day It was a bit crowded but this close to the beach it most likely is crowded all the time. They had live entertainment, a single guy playing a guitar singing his version of karaōke. We were sitting in front oh him so it was too loud for conversation but throughout the rest of the restaurant I imagine it was tolerable. The music wasn’t bad, just loud. The ambiance is normal for this type of restaurant. Since we live close this may be a normal spot for me to escape to.

We returned to Frenchy’s on the way through because we missed eating there every night on our previous vacation. The atmosphere is awesome, food and specials are so good. Always have live entertainment, the staff is friendly and fast. Love this place!

Food was good as usual, had the grouper sandwich. Bottle beer wasn’t ice cold and the service could have been better. Visited on May21

Food was just okay, nothing great. The service was good though! Drink sizes for the price you are paying may have been a bit too small for my liking. I was recommended to go by a friend, claiming it was a great restaurant in the area. I really was excited about this place, but maybe I just went on a bad day. Basic food options with not a lot of flare. That is an appropriate way to describe it I guess. Food lacked taste and was somewhat bland. If you’re a tourist like I am, I would pass this place up when deciding what to eat for dinner.

A very nice surprise. Frenchy’s is a roadside stand alone restaurant that should be on the water, but nevertheless captures Old Florida! Atmosphere 80 Catchy but roadside Service 75 It was crowded Food 85 Very Good, but not great Value 80 Fair price for good food Once again, not worth going out of the way but if you are in the vicinity its the best on the Causeway. Very very noisy in the indoor bar room.

Found this gem during a trip to Florida. Since I’ve moved down here, it is now a regular stop for my husband and me. The beer-battered grouper sandwich is amazing and highly recommended. In fact, all of the seafood we have had here is simply delicious!

When Frenchy’s first took over this location I wasn’t sure if it could live up to its Clearwater flagship location. Let me tell you, it exceeds it. The food is incredible. She crab soup and grouper nuggets with a frozen rum runner=heaven on earth. The beer selection is incredible and they feature several local brews. The bartenders are heavy-handed, so you get your money’s worth but make sure to have alternate transportation available. The location is awesome. Just close enough to the water to get the breeze and salt in the air. The live music has never failed to entertain. The best part about this location is not having to drive out to Clearwater Beach and try to fight for a parking spot. Parking is still a little zany since the food is so great but you aren’t in fear of the meter running out of money or your car getting towed. This is a great place to bring out of town guests to get them into the beachy Florida spirit.

As with all the other Frenchy’s, location is what reels folks in. I’ve never had a face-melting meal at any of them, but have always enjoyed the scenery to the fullest. Finally stopped by this one today with my moms in tow. I was showing her the food when we got hungry, so we said why not! We were greeted and seated quickly. Momski ordered an outpost burger, medium rare, and I went with a Greek salad, add Blackened shrimp. Only took about 15 minutes for the grub to emerge from the kitchen, so service remained speedy. We both enjoyed our food, but we weren’t wowed either. Nothing wrong with the food, but just wasn’t cooked with love. Typical Frenchy’s though. I saw so many grouper sammiches flying out of the kitchen. I know it’s their cornerstone menu item, and I’ve had it a dozen times before, but just wasn’t hungry enough to tackle it. Definitely the thing to do here is to stick with their mainstays though!

Great atmosphere, service and drink specials. Cool place to hang out but unless your getting the grouper it’s your normal frozen and fried establishment. Avoid the fries and calamari. Drink a lot, don’t eat though!

As I said last year, «i’d come gain, and I did today. Was still very good, which implies consistency. We had she crab soup, which was excellent. I had a California grilled chicken sandwich– Noyhing exotic, but was done very well. All chicken breast, but nice and juicy. My companionship fried grouper, fried in Beer batter. Greek salad was very good– not the best She ever had, but very good

We absolutely loved our experience! Great vibes and great people throughout. Very clean throughout and nice design. Our food was over the top delicious and came out just after we’d ordered. The smoked fish with crackers appetizer is the best! Everyone in our party was very pleased and as it looked so was everyone else here. We will repeat many more times to come! Thank you for being awesome!

It is a good place to take out of towners or enjoy a drink special on the deck. Service is really good our waitress was constantly refilling drinks without ever being asked. She was also very attentive with order taking and new everything about the menu. She was a 4 – 5 star server. The food was fairly good. The calamari was cooked perfectly. Healthy portion. Tasted good. Menu said it came with a mustard sauce but came with a tomato sauce which I prefer anyway. Little lady got the beat salad with grilled shrimp and at it all. Said it was very good. My grouper sanwhich left a lot to be desired. The fish was way over cooked and became dry. The jerk sauce was sweet and left the bun on the bottom a soggy mess impossible to hold. The flavor of the sauce was not very appealing. I realize many fail at jerk sauce but this was one of the worse claims ever. Also our meals came out shortly after the calamari which was disappointing. I know they want to turn over tables but you also don’t want the customer to eat cold food. I’d go back for apps and drinks. But that is most likely all. Also if you sit inside under the tarp the lighting is a horrible orange as you can see in my pics that gets rough on the eyes.

Honored to have this fine establishment as my 200th Unilocal review! Frenchie’s caught our eye right when we drove by it while headed to hang out by the water somewhere. When it was time to find a spot to get lunch, I open Unilocal and without knowing it was the same place, chose to come here. On a pleasant early afternoon on a Saturday, it really seems like you can’t go wrong with a visit. The vibe is laid-back, casual and simply awesome(emphasis on both simple and awesome). No frills, no flash, just a good time. Yes, there may be a bit of a wait but it seemed like no time passed during our 25 minutes. It feels like you’re relaxing the whole time with the open cabana feel. Should you choose to help yourself to a drink from the bar, then time really does fly. A few noteworthy dishes. Fire island shrimp were delicious; not oversauced and cooked perfectly. If you’re not familiar with Fire Island Shrimp, they were Rock Shrimp. If you don’t know what Rock Shrimp are, I don’t think I can help you. Not because I don’t want to, I just don’t know how to describe them other than«insanely fantastic»(and slightly sweet). Buffalo shrimp were also on the appetizer agenda and here is where I really gained a lot of respect for this restaurant. All too often, buffalo shrimp are just overfried, sauced-to-death monstrosities. Not here. VERY lightly fried, and with the perfect amount of sauce. The raw oysters were WONDERFUL. They were the most diesel gigantic oysters I’ve seen, maybe in my whole life, but so damn great. Only complaint here was that there were some shells still on the oyster surfaces that would sneak in to your mouth despite your best effort. The fresh fish tacos were… fresh. Eating them got messy, but they were absolutely worth the mess. I noticed a pattern here that the kitchen did not go for the cheaper, hacky, lowest common denominator attempts when it came to food preparation. Some places with similar menus just seem to be trying to get the food out fast, to the detriment of quality. This was the complete opposite. I enjoyed their beer menu, even though it was very can-heavy. Another complaint I had was that for beer and for many drinks(not so much a problem for mixed drinks but for beer, yes) was the plastic cup situation. BUT seeing as how there is a summer-party beach gimmick here, that’s easily forgivable, as it goes with the theme Our server was very attentive, friendly and QUICK. Food runners were on their A-game. I can see how when this place really packs out, service can suffer, but every table was taken when we were eating and the whole experience was smooth.

Each of Frenchy’s locations are good spots to bring friends, enjoy some good chow, a few drinks if you’d like, and enjoy the vibe. It’s not a romantic place for sweet whispers, because you’d have to yell over the music, the cheering during one of the sports events on one of the televisions, and through the generally pumped up crowd. This is not a knock at all, it’s just the fun you’ll experience at Frenchy’s. We brought three out-of-town friends on Saturday, and we all loved the event. It’s a big tiki bar with indoor or outdoor seating and very casual. We ordered a lot for the five of us, and pretty much shared it all. We started with the Spinach Artichoke Dip, Grouper Nuggets and Conch Fritters and went on to entrees of Outpost Trio(combo of shrimp, scallops, grouper and sides), Mahi-mahi, Fried Shrimp and Shrimp Scampi. Everything was good, tasty and just as ordered: not five-star quality, but just what we wanted to enjoy the evening. Our Server had her hands full on a very busy night, but kept our table up to speed and stocked, and all with a very personable and upbeat manner. A fun place for sure.

I’ve dined at Frenchy’s on the beach in Clearwater on an earlier trip to The Sunshine State, and was pleased enough to eat there twice during my stay. Having returned to the area, I was delighted to see that they had a restaurant close to my hotel in Dunedin. I enjoyed the grouper sandwich at the beachfront place, so I wanted some fish again. Craving fish & chips, the server suggested the grouper basket. It was great! Served hot with fries & slaw and a side of tartar. I enjoyed dining al fresco, as they had live music. A wee bit pricey, but the taste was superb. I also like that the servers at Frenchy’s have always offered to give a refill on my iced tea to take with me. Good job Frenchy’s. :)

Although I loved the vibe and atmosphere of this place, I’m pretty certain 2 people from our party of 3 got sick from the food, which by the way, wasn’t that good. I do love the reasonable prices that they offer for beer as well but the mussels were tiny and not great tasting then the stuffed grouper was actually just hard to eat. I should’ve taken a hint from the waitress though — when I asked about it she said«well I had a lady order it earlier and she finished it so I guess that says something». No Overall I’d recommend this place before or after dinner drinks but wouldn’t eat here again.

I’ve been going to the Frenchy’s establishments in Clearwater Beach since the early 90’s, so I’m a huge fan of this local chain(if you can even call it a chain). I was excited to try this place since it is a little closer than the locations in Clearwater. The bar area is nice and open, but the beer selection leaves a little to be desired. I think they have 6 – 7 beers on tap, but nothing special. As I always do, I ordered the grouper sandwich — buffalo style — with sweet potato fries. We also had onion strings as an app. I don’t mind saying that I was pressured at first into eating the onion strings since I really don’t like onions at all, but these were fantastic! Cut thin, well cooked, and good batter on them. I have to admit that I was a little disappointed when my grouper came out. It was a smaller than average filet, but it was delicious. The sweet potato fries were also well cooked. Wait staff was friendly and courteous, the bathroom was clean, and the restaurant has both indoor and outdoor seating. There is also an outdoor bar under an overhang if you don’t want to go to the indoor bar. For me, Frenchy’s represents the way Florida seafood should be, and this location is no exception. I was disappointed with the portion of Grouper sandwich, but I guess that’s the way it goes sometimes. I will definitely be back to this location.

Frenchy’s appeared busy so we decided it would be a good place to stop in! Our server was top notch and our appetizer of calamari was a heaping mound of good food… Then we ordered the grouper piccata for dinner. The fish was mediocre at best and was served basically soggy. Not what you would expect from a restaurant that claims to have its own fishing fleet. I would like to point out that their beer selection, appetizers, and service were excellent but I feel grouper is a tasty fish that should not be served in such a haphazard manner.
