OK, so after Purple Hands, this was probably my next favorite place we visited and definitely the most unique tasting experience we have had. You start by calling for a reservation… not sure how much we needed it on Thanksgiving weekend but definitely polite as you go to his house. Ok. so, pulling into the owner, Mo’s, driveway. Shoes off at the front door and walk through his foyer and living room to his beautiful and cozy kitchen. Mo pulled a couple wine glasses out of his dishwasher and we joined the other groups to chat with Mo. It was just him… so we had a great time just chatting as a large group with Mo. Often when we wine taste, we stick to ourselves. It was great to chat as a large group. Everyone talking about a common interest… wine. If you walk through the door in the corner, you will find his garage… where he stores his barrels. Haha, a dream for me one day!!! His wines are very good, but you should really come here for the tasting experience. This man knows his wine and loves to talk to everyone about it!

I’ve been drinking Oregon wines since 1998. I started drinking Ayoub wines from the first vintage, 2004. The estate was the only bottling for many years, but now Ayoub creates multiple single vineyard Oregon wines, a single vineyard cab franc from California, a couple great blend wines, and literally the best Oregon Chardonnay. The wines age extremely well, but are very hard to keep your hands off when young. Tasting wines at Ayoub is one of the most intimate settings in Oregon. Mo always hosts in his kitchen, which to those who know Mos’ kitchen, know. There are many wines in Oregon, but many taste better on-site than when you get home and the magic is gone from the glass. These wines are amazing at the winery, after a shitty day, or standing in front of a firing squad. They will make any day great. Make Ayoub a stop on your winery list, it will take the cake over any winery in setting but more so the quality.

If you want a really unique wine tasting experience — make a plan to visit Ayoub Wines. This was the highlight of our day in the Willamette Valley. Mo Ayoub shared with us his great wine in the comfort of his kitchen with the surprise appearance of some of his very colorful friends from the Valley. It is so obvious from our visit that this is a passion not merely a business for Mo and that just made the entire experience so much more memorable. I never anticipated tasting a beautiful rosé on this trip and was insistent that we take a bottle with us(thinking we would drink it that night). The rest of the wine we purchased was shipped home. I am sure we will be talking about our great afternoon in this warm setting with great wine for many years to come!!!

Visiting Ayoub was the highlight of our recent trip to the Willamette Valley. Mo Ayoub’s wines are small production bottlings of some of the finest Pinot Noir you can find. Don’t expect to walk into a fancy tasting room. Better yet, you are invited into his home and wines are generously poured at his kitchen island! How is that for service? Of the dozen or so wineries we visited on our trip, this was the only location where we got to speak directly with the winemaker. It is clear that Mo takes great pride in his wines and shows great interest in getting to know his patrons. His five acre vineyard, used for the Estate wine, is directly behind his house. The mesmerizing view from his deck cannot be put into words. The remainder of his fruit for other bottlings is judiciously sourced from nearby prominent vineyards. Mo appears to be a perfectionist. Limited tastings are by appointment only and I think preferences are given to wine club members. Go there prepared to take home a case! His wines are so good they will give you chills! Try to find a few bottles of the 2012 vintage prior to the release of wine scores. Once they are released, you will wholeheartedly regret not having several bottles in your cellar. We look forward to our next trip to Oregon, which will surely include a repeat visit to Ayoub.

This is some of the best wine I’ve had in the Pacific Northwest, and I’ve tried a triple-digit number of wineries over the last stack ‘o’ years. It’s appointment only, so call ahead. Don’t be shocked when you realize you’re at the Ayoub residence, leave your shoes at the door — along with your preconceptions of what most Oregon Pinot is going to taste like. It’s rare we leave a «new» winery(to us) with more than a bottle or two, and we left with a case. We had some great conversation with Mo and the other guests visiting while we were there on a Saturday afternoon, learned a bit about how he got into the business, and tried some fantastic vino. Highly recommend visiting if you are in the area, or even if you’re not, and looking for a truly unique and solid experience.

Best wine there is! Mo Ayoub is the owner and operator of this small and intimate boutique winery… he makes the visit special with welcoming you into his home and preparing cheese, fresh bread and plenty of amazing wine. His wine is the best there is and he makes the tasting so special. I have sent so many of my friends and family to his winery and everyone loved him and his wine. The presentation of the wines are beautiful with nice deep bottles, elegant labels and waxed dipped bottle top. The presentation in your mouth is just as beautiful. All the wines are age worthy and also lovely to enjoy now. The price points are very fair for this quality of wine. I can’t say enough great things about Mo and his wines. I’m his biggest fan!
