The Dundalk Moose Lodge is a true gem. Fraternal Organizations like the Moose have sadly, become less and less a part of the American Landscape. Those«in the know» still get the value of such places in terms of fun events, down-to-earth patrons, cheap drinks, and good food. Membership does has its privileges. I originally checked out the lodge when my car club decided to host our annual car show there. Once inside, I was in love with the nostalgic charm of the place, and with the regulars which are good salt-of-the-earth folks with good stories. Of course, as you’d expect, there’s LOTS of characters, which to me is a BONUS. AND…There’s a HUGE creepy nicotine-stained portrait of a child praying hanging on the wall, which really adds to the overall awesome of the main hall. I joined the Moose last year and just renewed my membership. It pays for itself on what you save on your bar tab, and everyone goes out of your way to make you feel welcome. If there’s a particular kind of hooch you’re into, they’ll usually try to get it. Some lodges also serve food on certain nights, and it’s generally pretty good. I usually scope out what other people are having and order once I have some reviews, vs. trying something new sight unseen. And if you’re not sure about a lodge, most of them have public events that will allow you to check it out even if you aren’t a member.
