Toasty’s Grilled Cheese Shop

Had a great sandwich and good tomato soup. Service was attentive and helpful since this was my first visit. I admit I still remember the best grilled cheese sandwich I ever had in St. Augustine, FL., but I will give this my second best ranking!

My new fav restaurant! The service and food was amazing! They brought our drinks (Bent Paddle Beer) and sandwiches out to us on the patio. Then checked on us multiple times to make sure we were okay. Don’t miss out on this one!

Just to let you know. If you hate cheese and bread, then this is not the place for you.
My girlfriend and I always wanted to go here, but never have until now. Have to say that this is a great little place to have lunch or a light dinner. Everything is organic and fresh, so go for a nice healthy meal. Even though it’s only a grilled cheese place, they have plenty of variety and other items as well. Don’t expect a good variety of drink items though, there isn’t much. A good place for a little hangout. Great service, but only one that’s actually taking orders, but don’t worry because it’s not busy usually.
You can label Toasty’s as a hipster place I guess, because lots of cool looking college kids come and hangout do homework, meetings, hangout, etc. Still no one bothers you at all.
One negative is that there might not be a good place to park since it’s on the side of the road. I walked because I live close, but a little heads up about that.

Food was awesome and service was very friendly! Recommend it to anyone looking for an affordable and tasty meal! :)

Delicious and affordable. We are outside since we had my dog with us, it was great to have a grassy area for him to lay down. We will be back for sure!

French Onion soup, Coors Banquet on tap and grill cheese comfort sandwiches. Service is 5 stars.

I got the smoked Gouda and apple grilled cheese sandwich and it was amazing! The staff was super friendly, and the bathroom was really clean, which is always a fantastic bonus! I loved my sandwich, really interesting how the apple slices were still crispy! The cheese was fantastic, and I got mine on the wheat bread. The bread was thick, and perfectly grilled. I love this place-​wish I lived up here so I could come here more often!

So I was walking down the street trying to find a place to eat. I walked upon this place. I looked at the menu and thought the grilled cheese idea was awesome but I wasn’t really feeling a grilled cheese. Well they had a second page that made organic gourmet burgers! Now that’s what I’m talking about! So I walked in and surprisingly the place was empty but it was a Sunday evening and downtown there wasn’t anyone to be seen anyways. I was seated promptly and given a menu. I was stumped between 2 burgers and the waitress helped me choose. I don’t remember all the ingredients but it was called burger in paradise. It has pineapple jalapeños Colby and homemade bbq. Not sure of the rest. That was one of the best burgers I’ve had the entire 2 weeks I’ve been in Duluth and to know that it’s organic made me feel even better about my choice. If you run across this place give it a try because it’s delicious and they had some magnificent grilled cheeses that I would like to try sometime in the future. Shootout to you toastys for doing something different that tasted so good!!!

I gotta say, I’m a little confused by the over-​the-​moon reviews for this place.
When my wife, daughter and I ate here, we were immediately impressed by their menu. Lots of options, all very creative. Yes, you could get a classic grilled cheese sandwich, but it looks like they pride themselves in thinking up different ways to present it.
So we each ordered the sandwich that sounded the most delicious, and were almost immediately disappointed upon the sandwich’s arrival. Why?
Well, let’s go over the components that make up a sandwich:
1) The bread
2) Everything in between
I’m going to just say it: the bread is severely disappointing. If I’m paying that kind of a price for a sandwich, it better be on some kind of artisan bread, baked with care. This was just… sliced bread. The same kind of bread you can get anywhere. It was absolutely nothing special and it added nothing to the sandwich.
So yes, unfortunately, I have to say that this place is pretty lackluster based on that. Everything IN the sandwich was delicious, but the bread was just so average I felt cheated. It’s like they put all the thought into what they’d put IN their sandwich, and didn’t care at all what they put around it.
Won’t be going here again.

Great sandwich great beer. Prices are reasonable. Good place to stop for a quick beer and meal. I do wish they would change the seats. When your there it feels like a get in and get out place. Which I do believe that’s the feel they are going for. But I would like to have a couple of beers with the sandwich but I never have, its always sit down eat in ten minutes slam the beer and be on my way. Customer service is great, very friendly place to go. Nice place to meet a friend before you go out for Duluth’s night life.

We live in that neighborhood, so we go ther a lot. Very family friendly place with simple, healthy and delicious food! Also the peopele there are really nice, I forgot my wallet once, and the host said to pay them back any time! That made my day, just random act of kindness.

This is a great, relaxed place that serves only comfort food and they do really, really well. Cheddar and basil sandwich with tomato soup. An entire restaurant of grilled cheese and soup. Your mom didn’t make it this way. Really savory and delicious. Don’t go if you are in a hurry. Service was slower, but boy was it worth the wait. We will be back next time we are in town. Watch for their second location opening up soon on Superior Street. Should be a pretty big hit.

Big fan of this place. Fun, creative takes on grilled cheese with good soups. The last time I was here I had the grilled cheese with cheddar, tomato, scallion and oregano and a side of tomato basil soup. Very good! Very reasonable prices for good food with fresh ingredients. Clean place and good drink choices if you want.
I don’t know why I haven’t takend advantage of this, but I see other reviewers have added things like bacon or avocado. Next time, because I will definitely be coming back…

I enjoyed a philly dilly sandwich. It took a while to get because it was so busy. This is a place I plan on eating at again

I love the concept of grilled sandwiches as the focal point of a restaurant, it’s just so American.
I had a plain old grilled cheese on white.
It’s tucked away in a quiet residential neighborhood. Staff is friendly and the facility is clean.

Incredibly delicious! Toasted just right! Not soggy! I had the Cheddar Oregano (sharp cheddar, fresh oregano, tomato, and scallion). I had to add bacon because that’s what I do!!! Cut into four pieces so you get that creamy goodness in every bite.
The chips super fresh and crunchy. The pico seasoned just right!

Amazing, perfect every time grilled cheese with fresh, as local as possible ingredients. Excellent variety, excellent soups and even a grilled dessert! Recently they added outdoor seating which is a nice bonus!
My favorites are the arriba arriba and the bruschetta. I am vegetarian so I have no opinion on the meat selection. I also love the beverage options, soda to wine to cold water.
My only tip is to keep in mind that a perfect grilled cheese doesn’t come quickly, so be prepared to wait a little longer than you might like, but trust me it is worth it!

Casual environment to enjoy delicious homemade tomato soup paired with an awesome grilled cheese sandwich. We had the Smoked Gouda BLT (yum!) and the special for the day, the Fig Gouda. Filling and tasty. Oh! And the caprese salad had great flavor and texture.
I will totally stop again the next time I am passing through Duluth!
