I’ve been coming here since high school(10+years). Nuff said. But seriously though, this place has been around for years and there’s a reason why it has. The chefs are extremely friendly and do what they can to make sure you have a great time. I’ve brought many of my friends and hosted birthdays at this restaurant, and they never fail to satisfy my guests with the delicious steak and shrimp hibachi cooked to perfection and the fried rice cooked right on the grill with the right amount of soy sauce. Whenever I go with a group, we always start with some sushi(rolls and nigiri) appetizers, which you can immediately tell is fresh as soon as it hits your tongue and melts in your mouth. If you’re in the area, highly recommended.

I’ve been coming to this restuarant since 2006. I love this place! The owner guy is in the restaurant most of the times and he is such a great man. Their food is awesome and especially seafood yaki udon is the best in town! MUSTTRY :) and also I normally get steak & shrimp hibachi. Taste great Service is great! This place is located next to the Regal Movie Cinemas. Perfect place for dinner and movie!

Went for hibachi lunch. Chef was hilarious and talkative. Asked us many times about our likes and dislikes of sauces, etc… Chicken and rice excellent. Steak was tender and not overcooked. 10 lunch special was a good value.

I don’t understand how this place doesn’t have 5 stars! It’s so delicious! Their hibachi chefs are always entertaining and the food comes out perfect each time. They have the best fried rice! Their sushi selection is huge and always comes out beautiful and delicious!

Had a party of five and the food was expensive and well below par. From start to finish — soup smelled bad, the salad was way over dressed, the fried rice was good, the steak and chicken were both bland and overlooked. Kani house and Aomi in the forum are far better hibachi. Sorry Kampia

one word: Basic First off all we waited at the door for 20 min just to sit at open seats at the bar area. All of the sushi was mediocre at best. Nothing special. I actually had better sushi at the mall. Service was way too slow for me. I don’t think I will be back. It was completely packed so I wonder if its the only Sushi spot nearby because it sure just«ok» to me

Conveniently located to the movie theater which makes for a great dinner and a movie combination on weekends. Went with the family on a Saturday night and although it was pretty busy, we didn’t have to wait to get our own hibachi table. Our table chef was wonderful, he accommodated our party’s varying taste buds all while keeping us entertained. We sampled the shrimp, chicken and veggie hibachi combos. Everybody seemed pleased with their meals. One complaint was that the veggie option did not include tofu which is a common protein option at other hibachi grills. Our entrees came with ginger and a «mayo”-type sauces. The sauces really brought the flavor otherwise the food coming off the grill is pretty bland. Would be nice if they could add more seasoning to add a little more flavor. The fried rice was just right, not too greasy like other places. The sushi was decent but nothing to rave about. All in all this place can satisfy your hibachi cravings but there’s nothing extraordinary about the restaurant as a whole. Good service, decent food and convenient location will continue to bring in the crowds.

Came in on a Saturday for hibachi with two of my friends. We were seated immediately and we waited for another party to arrive. The waitress took a long time to get the order for our drinks but was polite. Our table waited around 30 minutes for the hibachi chef to come, but man did it feel long. My friend and I specifically asked for medium rare on our New York steak but both the chicken and steak was overcooked. Super chewy. Also a side note that their food is SUPER salty. I felt like I was drinking more water than eating food. Portions were smaller while the price was more expensive than other hibachi places I’ve been to. I love hibachi but Kampai was the first time I did not finished my food/asked for a to go box.

We have eaten here numerous times and it is about average for sushi. It is hit or miss if the squid or octopus sashimi will be in stock but when available it is decent. Service tends to be a little slow even when they do not seem to be very busy and the guys working in the kitchen are kind of noisy and can be heard in the dining area. Have not tried the hibachi and can not comment on it.

The only reason why this gets 2 stars instead of one is because our service was great. We wanted to go to mirchi virchi before the movie but alas they were closed on Tuesdays. So we decided on this place before our movie. Not impressed. Not a whole lot of value here. chicken teriyaki was $ 18? Sushi and sashimi combo was $ 40…really expensive for no reason at all. Sushi is kind of mediocre. By the way the spicy tuna roll had a sweet goo type sauce on top that I hated. I wish that they would have advised you that it comes with a sweet jam-y sauce.

The first time I came here I had a pretty good experience. All the rolls were awesome, we sat at the bar, and it was a fun atmosphere. This last time around everything was just okay. I don’t know if it had to do with us coming on a rainy weekday probably an hour before closing, but they were out of certain selections and my rolls were just okay. The seaweed salad was good and the service was excellent, but the sushi I got didn’t hit the spot, it didn’t make me want more of their sushi, and I ended up getting sushi from Whole Foods afterwards. It’s a great location and they have other items too so I would be willing to come again and try different specialty rolls and hibachi.

It is always an enjoyable experience when we go here. The chefs always give a very entertaining show. Not sure why I’m always picked on for that one gag. Lol. I had my usual salmon and the boo had his steak/chicken combo. Food is cooked to perfection. No mAtter the chef they never over cook the salmon. It’s perfectly cooked. California rolls are a must when here! And we always leave here very satisfied. By far one of my favorite hibachi spots in GA!

Their food is good, but service is usually slow, more so if they are crowded. I recommend Kampai except when you are on a tight schedule. As with most Asian restaurants, lunch is plentiful and inexpensive, but dinner is also reasonably price. They have a really varied menu and although I haven’t tried everything, I’m working my way through it slowly.

I’m surprised by the negative reviews. We’ve been coming here for about 5 years pretty consistently(before the movies, etc) and I don’t think we’ve ever had a bad meal here. The service has occasionally been slow, but when we tell them we’re trying to make an 8pm movie, they move things along. I’ve seen some very fun and animated hibachi shows here(with a full table on a weekend night) but I’ve also seen some duds. That said, the food at the hibachi is always tasty and high quality. We usually sit in the sushi area and I find Kampai to be some of the freshest, most delicious soosh around Duluth.

The worst place to go! The show was not even a show. He rushed our food and half of it was raw. I did not even get my refill in water and the chef threw the food on to our plate. Never again will I come here.

Sushi and habachi places are a dime a dozen in the suburbs, but this is a solid find. They have a wide array of rolls, sashimi, and nigiri. My girlfriend took me for my birthday and we got the Yummy Yummy platter which had 5 rolls and a ginger salad and miso soup. Despite valiant efforts, we couldn’t finish it all, but it was worth leaving stuffed. The platter came with a nice variety of rolls — a little spice, a little sweet, a little creamy, a little crunchy. Some of the larger rolls were a bit hard to manage in one bite, but that didn’t deter the flavor. The rolls were prepared with care and the ingredients were included delicately. It may not be high-end sushi, but it definitely hit the spot. The service was very good too. I’ll be back for sure.

Hibachi is pretty much the same everywhere you go now. Kampai Sushi & Hibachi is no different. You know what to expect here when it comes to the experience and show. Located conveniently next to the Regal Cinemas on Medlock so it’s a great place for dinner and a movie. The menu ranges from hibachi, rice/noodle dishes, and sushi. I can only speak on behalf of the hibachi and its pretty good but like I said its nothing special and you could probably get it the same at another hibachi place. My Recommendations: –Hibachi Steak, Shrimp, and Scallop Menu:

Came for lunch. Had a bento box with chicken teriyaki and a spicy tuna roll. While the tuna was fresh, it was covered in a spicy and fruity jam-like substance. I can’t say I’ve ever had a sweet spicy roll before. The chicken was quite gamey, couldn’t eat it. It came with no rice so that was extra. The tempera veggies were rather bland and the goyza had an unidentifiable spongy filling. Needless to say, I won’t be back. Too many other good places around this area.

Definitely won’t be coming back… the place had a hand full of people in the restaurant and the service was incredibly slow. The most we received out of this place was our water and lemonade. Our waitress was slow and unattentive… her excuse: she had her 2 year old child in the back, so I guess she had to play mommy role in addition to working and clearly found the two to be a hindrance. Good thing was she didn’t make us pay for our drinks as we walked out…

Beyond the ginger salad, I was extremely disappointed in the this restaurant. The sushi was not very fresh, the wasabi was not potent at all, and the spicy mayo was not spicy. Despite the plus of serving hard liquor, I won’t be back.
