Don’t come here to eat. They’re racist asf. We came first and we’re Vietnamese but they took order of THEIRPEOPLE first who came after us. SORACIST!

I love their tofu soup. The servers were nice and prompt. I could use a cleaner bathroom. I will come back again next time to try their fried octopus.

I love this place. It’s been my favorite place to eat since I was a freshman highschool which was in 2004 and I still visit when I can!

Do not come here!!! The experience was HORRIBLE! I have been coming here for quite awhile and the more I come, the more rude the service is. I feel as if you are not Korean, they will not treat you well. I used to love coming here because the food is good, but since there are more places that opened up, I suggest you go to those places, like the one next to Sweet Hut. The last and final time we went, we ordered the rib combo and soup to share, because I only wanted the soup. The ladies are so rude, they do not let us finish ordering and just walk away before we are even finished talking. When she realized we were sharing the combo, they brought the dish out with four pieces of the kalbi ribs. We paid 18 $+ for just four pieces of ribs! I know by past experience that it is not just four pieces. I know they just put that little because they did not like the fact we were sharing. The other restaurant by Sweet Hut is $ 2 more but the service is very nice and the portions are very excellent for the price. Expect us to never come here again.

I really like this place because: 1. Location– so convenient for me 2. Fast service– and in perfect english! The older lady up front is super nice! 3. Good food — Portions are generous and even to-go they give you a great selection of banchan(including the croaker!). 4. Portion– one combo can last me 2 – 3 meals. I really like this place, recommend, and will be back as soon as I can!

I have been here many times, and the service is horrible. I had been maybe 3 times with other Koreans, and they always treated me well. I would read the reviews on here about the staff treating westerners bad, and i tried to justify it by thinking that it was a cultural misunderstanding, but it’s not. When I would go other times with Koreans, they were nice and helpful, checking on us often. I speak fairly good Korean, and can read and write in Hangeul very well. I also am very familiar with Korean cuisine. I wanted my mom to experience this though, so I took her there. I always try to speak as much Korean as I can when I visit these places because I enjoy having someone to converse with, and i always say simple things I know. I asked the lady in Korean for some water, which is one of the simplest and easiest things to say. The woman pretended to not understand me(keep in mind that I am around koreans often, I even go to a Korean church where I speak to elders that are not Americanized. They can always understand me.) I repeated it maybe two more times and finally asked in English. She wouldn’t even look at me unless I spoke English. She was very snobby and ignored us the entire time. Before that experience, I was with my friend that was visiting the states from Korea, and he said the food was only okay. His mother was with him, and while she was treated nicely by the staff(she spoke no english, not Americanized at all) she wasn’t impressed by the food either. The service alone is why my review is low, the food is subpar too. The only reason why I think this place is open is because it’s in the same shopping plaza as H-Mart. Jang su Jang nearby is much better food wise in my opinion, and the staff is much friendlier. I won’t be going back here, this place sucks!

2 baby roaches came from the bottom of side dish. I killed one but the other one got away. Thank God they came out before we started eating. We got up and left.

Korean Restaurant. We stopped here on the way to another restaurant — because of it’s reputed food quality. The tofu house we originally were going to was closed. So we went here, and then we noticed the owner of the original one eating here! The inside is very plain and simple with carved wooden tables. We ordered the mushroom tofu soup and the tofu bebimbop. The server brought us several Kim-chi side dishes. Everything was EXCELLENT! We’ve ordered these items at other restaurants, but here, they make it the best. The kim-chi was excellent! Right down to the little fish they provide. The best little fish I ever had. I highly recommend this Korean Tofu house for authentic and delicious tasting food,

You can pretty much find me here on a nice cold day. Korean tofu soup(soondubu) is definitely my kind of comfort food to warm up. I almost always order the dumpling tofu soup. I know some may disagree, but the broth of the soup tastes better here for some reason. It is amazing, and the dumplings don’t fall apart in the hot soup unlike most places. The place overall is sorta old but has this cute«ma and pop» feel– The place is run by a group of older women. A family business I assume. Since I’m not Korean, I would say service may be lacking. But that doesn’t really bother me; It’s just how it is in most Korean restaurants. If you are with a group of friends and never had Korean food, I suggest you try the combo that includes the galbi(beef) and a choice of tofu soup. I think the price is like $ 20 – 30. Note: Unless you get the tea, their water tastes weird to me for some reason– sorta metallic. Maybe something’s wrong with my tongue, but just a note to keep in mind! Oh, and if you receive the raw egg, it goes with the soup. You crack it into the hot sizzling soup when it arrives and the egg will cook :)

The food is OK. These people have the worst customer service I have ever seen and after I leave them no tip they come after me and asked me why I left them no tip and they still don’t understand why I didn’t leave them tip even after I explain to them how their customer service sucks. These people are incredibly disrespectful to come after anyone after their bad service and I am not the first one that this happens in this restaurant definitely will not be coming back.

Awful awful awful. I’m not referring to the food but I’m talking about their attitudes and customer service or lack of. They treat you like peasant and don’t dare ask for anything because they will give you the worst look ever. I will die of starvation before I come back here again.

This is the go to spot when you aren’t in the mood for AYCE Korean BBQ, but you want some good food! The kalbi is delish! You could pair it with a tofu soup. The sides are great too! The fried croaker is an awesome snack while waiting on your main entrée. It’s tucked away in the corner of the H-Mart plaza. Be sure to add this to your list of Korean foodie spots!

I’ve been here a few times, but never wrote a review. Service is decent. I think they changed owners cuz’ it’s a different name on the sign even tho’ the front door still says Book Chang. FOOD: I love their complimentary broiled fish and their ban-chan(side dishes). I always get their mushroom soon-doo-boo which comes with bean sprouts and raw egg. Their rice comes in a hot pot where you scoop out the rice and they pour in hot water to make noo-rung-jee. Always a great meal at a decent price!

Service was horrible! We didn’t even want to tip ATALL but it would be out of character if we didn’t. After we paid, left a tip(more worthy than their service) and was already in our cars, the lady had the audacity to come and ask for MORE tip. Wth? I was embarrassed for her. Lol so awkward. Really lady? You sucked, how are you going to come chasing after customers for more tip? Smh Other than that, food is great! Love the spicy seafood tofu soup!

My go-to when it comes to tofu soup. My best friend and I come here on a daily basis because it is just that good. We usually order #3, spicy seafood tofu soup. $ 10. You get a whole lot of sides as you would any other Korean restaurant. I’m a big fan of their kim chi! You can also chose a soup with ribs as well. $ 16. Their service is the reason why I’m giving them 3 stars. I literally have to ask every second for extra sides or it takes forever to get their attention. I try to ask them for everything all at once but I guess they love walking back and forth because they always seem to forget about me. Also, don’t ever ask for tip. My very first experience there was terrible but at the same time funny. As I was paying my tab, she asks me for tip. Funny because I left cash on the table but it was honestly the most awkward thing ever.

This place is not the same as the one in LA(assuming they’re the same company). The design was dated and worn. Our table needed to be replaced. It can hold about 60 people. The service was the worst aspect. Although nice and accommodating, they were not attentive. We had to call them for everything. At one point I just got up for my own napkins. They just don’t come around once they drop off the food. The food itself was just average. SKD is better IMO. The sides here were better though. The tofu dish was about $ 8 if I remember correctly. You get a good amount of meat so it’s a good bargain. They bring out the rice in the hot stone dish like most tofu places. Overall, it’s not a bad tofu option but I hope their service was just an off day.

If you live in Gwinnett and say you are going to tofu house, this is the place most people are referring to. Located in the H Mart plaza on Pleasant Hill road, Book Chang Dong is one the most popular tofu houses in the area. The tofu soup broth is what brings the customers here(so good!) and if you can handle spicy feel free to turn up the heat on you soup and order the«very hot». Each tofu soup comes with its assortments of cold kimchi side dishes. These pair up well with hotness of the tofu soup which is cooked and delivered to you in stone pot, take your time and don’t just dive in unless you want a burnt tongue, that’s my advice. My Recommendations: –Kimchi and Beef Tofu Soup Menu:

Closest tofu soup place to my house so I come here more often than I should, since their soups are pretty cheap. About 9 – 10 $, okay maybe not THAT cheap. I usually get their combo with the korean BBQ but they raised the prices 2 – 3 $ from before, so thats out of the question now. I fluctuate between the beef + kimchi or just the plain beef. They don’t give as much beef in the one with kimchi so I always settle for just the beef. Side dishes are typical and those alone with the fish can fill me up just fine. Service is indifferent but thats no surprise. Will continue to come back in the future because I just can’t get enough.

Book Chang Dong Tofu House is another old-school Tofu House that’s been in the Atlanta area for many years. I remember going to this place over 10 years ago. It’s same as Cho Dang and So Kong Dong in Buford Hwy. In fact, I think all 3 are similar. If you live near Buford Hwy, there is no reason to go to Book Chang Dong. And if you live near Duluth, there is no reason to go to the Buford Hwy Tofu Houses. You can see the age in this restaurants. Everything looks old. They seemed to have kept all of their original decorations. Perhaps the people working there were the same people that worked 10+ years ago. They looked burnt out as well. Speaking of which, they don’t have the friendliest service in the world. They don’t smile, they just do their jobs with cold efficiency. They seem to hate their jobs, but they do it anyway. How is their food? It’s Tofu Stew. It’s same everywhere. From Irvine, Ca, to Buford Hwy, to this place, they all taste similar. They all have the similar menu, right down to the combos. They even have the same banchans with that dried-up whole fish. I did get their combo. I got the classic Tofu Stew and the Ribs combo. It wasn’t bad. The ribs were tender. I didn’t taste much of the marinade, but it tasted good enough. The stew was slightly on the bland side. That’s good, I rather have that than something full of sodium. I liked walking out of their without needing 10 glasses of water. I give this place about 3.5 stars. It’s a Tofu House. What more can you expect?

SUMMARY: Good sundubu and galbi. They aren’t always consistent and unfortunately, they’re more on the downward end at the moment so the food does not taste as good as it used to. It’s a pretty inexpensive lunch if you’d like to grab something warm to eat though. You’ll get lots of food because of the side dishes they bring. Service is good, but not exceptional. FULLREVIEW: I love love Korean food, especially sudubu. There are a few places I go for that in the area but I’ve been going to this one for quite some time now, and I think it’s about time to change it up by leaving it off with a review. I usually order either just the sundubu with beef or the combo meal that comes with a choice of sudubu and galbi. Sundubu is the tofu soup that comes with a meat of your choice and vegetables(or just vegetables if you’re a vegetarian). You can decide how spicy you’d like your soup to be or have no spice in it at all. Galbi is marinated beef short ribs. Both really good. They also bring you some side dishes such as kimchi, beansprouts, etc., to complement your meal. Depending on what you order, it’ll usually come with a stone bowl of rice. It’s probably my favorite part because it keeps the rice nice and hot. At the end of your meal, when you finish most of your rice, you can ask the server to bring you barley tea to pour in the stone bowl to soften up the rice so you can scoop out the rest. Consistency is key. If I find some place that’s good and inexpensive to grab lunch at, I’ll likely come back. A lot. So that’s the case with this place. I love coming here, especially now since it’s getting super cold. I like to get something warm to eat and this place is perfect for that. However, it’s been slacking off lately with it’s quality… the food just doesn’t taste as good anymore. The sundubu doesn’t come with nearly as much meat in it as it used to. The sides aren’t as fresh and the fish that they bring comes out cold. I stopped coming to this place in the past and started going again because they started to pick up the slack. So I think it’s about time for me to leave it be again for a few to see if they will improve, and I hope they will. Because back when it was good, it was gooood~
