Had a nice meal with family when we were in town over Memorial Day Weekend. Loved the atmosphere and the memorabilia on the walls. Liked how the place was broken up into many separate areas to give you a little more intimate feel in a large space. The food was very good and the beer & wine selection excellent. Our server appeared to be relatively new, but he was very friendly and gave a good effort.

Great food. The Pasta Ala Vinny was very tasty with the shrimp and scallops. Nice and spicy. Special mention to our waiter Luke. He did a great job. When I mentioned our boys will enjoy the left over bread, he boxed up a batch of new bread and wrote«For the boys» on the to go box.

Every time we visit the food is amazing. Even my kids who normally claim to inly like chicken nuggets and Mac and cheese love this place. Please note: try not to get full on the bread…

One of the WORST experiences EVER! Service beyond horrible! The hostess beyond rude, obnoxious, immature!!! We all ended up with stomach issues then next day! My husband & I have eaten at the Galena location for special occasions for years! This weekend we were in town with our 3 boys and talked up the Italian food like there was no tomorrow!!! Got there 15 minutes early for our reservation. To our surprise only 2 tables were occupied. They sat us at the very last table all the way in the back by the kitchen. We asked to be moved. The hostess very flustered told my husband NO. I then asked her obviously others are not here yet, did everyone specifically ask for these exact tables? NO, she said! Seems simple to you but it’s a very tedious process to change a table! Well we really don’t want to sit near the kitchen in the back of the restaurant if no one is here. With a HUFF she moved us to the front. As we grabbed our drinks, & menus & walked up front the servers, hostess and bartender were all huddled around the bar area talking about us! She told us she had to find a server that would serve us??? Really??? We should’ve left then!!! Stayed, ordered… She asked us if our lemonade drinks were ok??? I asked her why? She said it was the last of the lemonade!!! Looked closer!!! Floaters in the lemonade!!! Food sub par!!! Not worth the 130+ we spent!!! That is for sure!!! We all ended up with stomach issues the next day! Spaghetti was cold! My boys were convinced it was the people working there doing something to our food!!! The entire time we sat there we constantly got looks from all staff! At the end of our meal, they didn’t even ask if we wanted desert. They just gave us our check! Not a good night or anything!!! NEVEREVERAGAIN!!! We were very surprised, with all above!!! We’ve been in the Galena location many many times!!! Nothing but rave reviews there!!!

Stopped by today on a last minute decision after another last minute decision to hit an auto swap meet. One of those kinda days. The Fried Ravioli appetizers were pretty good… not the best I’ve ever had but the spicy sauce made up for any inadequacies. The Veal Parmigiano was very good as well, the veal a tad on the too much done side for perfection though. The Mrs had the Uncle Pauli’s Baked Penne which she said was very tasty. The décor and ambience was very nicely done with old pics and wine bottles covering the walls.

We were glad to see that the place was very busy for a late night Friday dinner. We had a crazy server-not sure if she was drunk on life or on something else. She gave us great service; replenishing drinks, salad, and rolls. She recommended entrees and dessert. She treated us well. The food was good, the pizza and pastas were tasty. But the appetizer, fried ravioli was the worst we’ve ever had. Overall a good and bad experience. Great ambience!

Great food and service every time. Seafood millennium is where it is at. For some reason the Galena location is not as good.

Beautiful ambiance but I wasn’t thrilled by the food. I’ve had the lasagna and the spaghetti served with garlic and olive oil. The meals just aren’t that good.

Stopped by this quaint Italian place for lunch. The starter of bread and salad was delicious and probably the best part of the meal. The bread was practically saturated in butter in the best possible way and the dressing of the salad was marvelous. My husband had the meatball sandwich and I had the special, chicken and vegetables over angel hair pasta with a spicy sauce. Both of these were very good, consistent and large portions but nothing outstanding.

I liked the décor and ambience but the chicken parmigiana was average at best compared to what I am used to in NJ restaurants. Not many appetizers — would have been nice if some of the pastas were offered as half portions for appetizers. I loved the garlic bread.

We had a great experience at Vinnies last evening. Emma our waiter was fantastic. All aspects of the food was good. By the way there were 14 of us and all were praising the food and wait staff Emma.

Order the chicken piccata. Great service and nice vibe. Ask for little or no cheese because it’s heavy on the salads and bread — if you’re not a huge cheese fan.

It’s sad but Vinny’s has gone WAY downhill from what it once was. We’ve lived in the area for 16 years and have been there many times. We just got back from a family dinner there and, to be kind, I’d call the experience mediocre. The service was fair, the portions were OK, there flavor of some of our dishes was good and others, like the Pasta Alla Vinny that I had, was downright blah and boring, but the prices were right up there. In a few words, the value was poor. There are A LOT better choices in the area. Do yourself a favor and try any of them.

First thing the server was great considering our group of 17. The food was ok at best. My tortilini with peas, ham and mushrooms had NO flavor, portion was large but the dish was served more like soup in the bowl. My dinner guest meal was the seafood pasta meal. Big disappointment. Lots praise for garlic bread, not sure why, it too was only so, so. If there had been flavor, more salt and garlic it would have been the big«O» Garden. Not on my list of places to return too. BTW, they do no not split checks. Not impressed at all. Dubuque still has no great Italian restaurant, Sorry. No dessert offerings?

I don’t understand why anybody in Dubuque goes to Olive Garden where they heat your meal up in a microwave when you can go to this amazing place. The service is very professional and knowledgable. The food is amazing with good portions and the prices are very reasonable. It’s in the heart of the downtown district which makes it even better. Both of our meals were great and Lucas was a very good waiter. If you come to Dubuque and want REAL Italian food this is the place to go.

Not our first time here with a group for a business dinner, but it is our last if I am involved. The healthiest fare on the menu was a N.Y. Strip with a nice lot of mixed vegetables. Veggies were great, but the N.Y. shoe leather was… well two of us could only make it through half of it! Medium rare was medium well. Starters were not meant for a group… meatballs were two large meatballs presented without a serving utensil… use your fork! The rubbery Calamari’s only saving grace was the sauce. All the entrees were over sauced… greasy disgusting sauced in a quantity that could easily drown a Navy Seal. The wait staff tried but were clearly below par, not really well trained to be ahead of the game. Serve the family style salad… but oh, uh… oh…wait fora clean plate for the salad. They didn’t charge me for the steak, our group was impressed, though not on the positive end of the scale. Sorry Vinny, this disappointment can’t be excused nor repeated.

All the way into downtown, I kept telling myself, «If I can just get a lovely bowl of garlic pasta, I will be happy.» It was one of those ‘he wants Italian. I want light’ trips, and we had definitely ruled out all the mall places. We were headed for a roasted pizza place on the main street we had seen before. When we arrived, we found it was defunct. However, a Vinny Vanucchi’s had opened up over the Busted Lift, one of our favorite bars. We had eaten at VV’s in Galena, so we had high hopes. And, I got my garlic pasta! So warm, so delicious. He got his pizza, and we both went home happy. The waiter was attentive, the crowd small and quiet for our lunch, and we will be back.
