This is a quaint Abbey gift shop with great caramels! Sample a fee and see what your u want to purchase. Chocolate covered caramels were good but the individual wrapped vanilla Caramels were fresh and delicious! Also enjoyed the melt aways. Picked up a few boxes for gifts.

I don’t want you to set yourself up for an experience beyond 3 stars. We were fooled! This place is a monastery/convent outside of Dubuque, in a farm area. They have a lovely campus. The store is very small. They sell some jewelry items, maple syrup, caramels, chocolates, boxes of chocolates. We did not buy any because they use artificial flavors(not in the maple syrup), and this was incredibly dissapointing.

These caramels are the absolute best. I stop every time I’m passing through. First… They have free samples but if you indulge, you’ll be hooked. The vanilla caramels are creamy, soft, and melt in your mouth. You have to try them. The chocolate caramels are unique and incredibly rich in flavor. They are fantastic. I love the Hazelnut Melt-aways and the Irish Mints. I’m too cheap to try the truffles but if they are like the other candies, the nuns have perfected them. There is a small gift shop that is often unstaffed. You select what you wish to purchase and put the money into a box with a slot. No cash or check? No candy… You can always order them on the Internet, though. Don’t forget… The Almighty is watching over the gift shop even if nobody is there to take your money … so be honest! This is a wonderful place to stop. The candies are exquisite. Enjoy!
