I heard great things about sunrun from my friend and decided to go with them. Except for the initial sales cycle everything else has been a bumpy ride and full of unpleasant surprises. Here is my experience so far. Sales Presentation and Sales Cycle: Ok Initial Audit: My sales guy was able to pull the audit appointment date ahead than the initially given date — Ok Installation: This is where the problems started, on the installation day, I stayed home to make sure that I’m available for anything they might need. Installation crew was helpful in painting conduit over to match my exteriors. But didn’t let me know that they broke several tiles in the process(more than usual), which I came to know only by a call by their manager later. Obviously I was worried and wanted them to replace tiles ASAP to avoid any damage to my roof. Interesting enough they schedule replacement appointment for the very next day and I was glad to see their prompt attention to it. Next day morning, while I waited for the crew to come and knock on the door and let me know about the work they were to going perform(minimum courtesy to let the home owner know that they are going to get on to my roof at the least). To my surprise they didn’t bother to let me know that they were entering my home, but wrap up the whole tile replacement in under 30 mins and were gone. I was terribly concerned and called the crew manager and expressed my concern on not letting me know about the commencement/end of the work and also my lack of confidence in the quality of the work done. Initially they claimed that I can be rest assured about the installation, since city will not give clearance if it is not done properly, but I insisted on them having a second look at it. Crew manager Christopher was kind enough to apologize for lack of communication and agreed to come and take a look at the work done. Apparently they didn’t care for getting any close matching tiles and put some random tiles on my roof to wash their hands off and there were couple tiles still broken as well. He apologized again and came back two days later to replace the tiles in proper fashion. The whole thing was a nightmare to go back and forth and total lack of professionalism on Sunrun part. With the installation finally done and city inspection out of our way. We got PGEPTO(permission to operate) in few weeks and finally turned the system on. It has been several weeks since this was done and there was no communication from sunrun to check on how things were running, other than email reminders to refer friends — which we will NOWAY are going to do. Though it has been several weeks since system has been running, we do not see any data on the sunrun customer website and when called customer support initially, we were told that it takes time and finally when I called yesterday, I was told that they also noticed it and tried to reach to me to see what is going on — are you serious? I never got a single call from anyone from sunrun. I finally got fed up and asked the customer service to send someone to look at it. Just being hopeless, I also emailed my sunrun project manager(Alicia), my sales guy and the installation crew manager asking for help and the response from sunrun project manager is «contact customer service». Sunrun showed us no sense of responsibility or ownership and customer focus during this entire process(even till today) and I strongly suggest you to look at alternatives and avoid all the pain we have been going through.
