This place is a dump. Even after it was«renovated.» It was just a surface job. It’s dirty and noisy. The pull out couch was a joke. My daughter had to put the couch cushion on the mattress to not feel the springs. The breakfast selection was horrible. Hallways are dark and dingy. Spend the extra few dollars and go to a nicer hotel. Will not be returning.

This is an excellent facility. The staff is excellent, the breakfast is very good, rooms are clean, spacious and comfortable. This is a wonderful facility. I plan on staying again when I am in town on business. This is my motel of choice in this area.

Stopped late night for a room after picking this hotel from the Virginia hotel coupons book we grabbed at a rest area. It was about 15 minutes off of our route but well worth it. Spacious room, fairly clean, pool area very clean and warm, had laundry facility for guests that we also made use of. All staff i encountered went out of their way to help me with anything I asked and were polite. Will make this a regular stop for our family trips might even vacation here! Shower was our only complaint water pressure was low but bath tub was clean so ended up doing that instead.

This hotel is in desperate for a facelift. The lobby smells musty — no doubt because the pool is directly behind the lobby. The hall way carpets are stained and out date. The room was okay, but again in need of a facelift. One thing that put me off was when I walked into the room, it appeared that someone had been laying on the bed. The coverlet was wrinkled and the pillow looked dented. It was a little disconcerting. Not sure about the free breakfast because I didn’t partake. I don’t recommend staying here unless it is your only choice.

This Sleep Inn was a lot nicer than I had expected! I was very pleasantly surprised. The Good: 1. Nice indoor pool area. We didn’t swim, it looked great. 2. Clean and more spacious rooms. I didn’t feel like the four of us were stepping all over each other as I had in other rooms. The bathroom was even a little bigger. 3. The sheets, bedspreads, and pillows were quite comfy. I would actually consider purchasing these for home use. 4. Pretty good breakfast buffet. Sausage, biscuits, bagels, waffles, cinnamon rolls, cereal. Conspicuously absent were bread and yogurt, but I’m still sure there would be something for everyone. 5. Friendly staff. The Not so Good: 1. The Wifi was really, really, awful. I weigh wifi high on the level of importance, and my devices won’t not stay connected, no matter what. A call to front desk was no help. «We only have one device and so it doesn’t always work.» Ok. 2. If you are looking to be next to restaurants and stores, this is not it. There is a Dairy Queen and Taco Bell down the road, but that seemed to be it. I would stay here again if I was in the area. I really wish they would find a way to fix the wifi, though.

Great price especially when using Virginia coupon book! The exterior was well lit. The parking lot was clean. For a mother and child to stop in without knowing a thing, it was just right. I’d called along the way to ask questions: last remodel, rate for the night, availability, amenities. The front desk clerk was patient and very we decided to go for it. We checked in using the coupon, went up to the second floor, and discovered what a nice looking room we had. Looking back at the old photos, it was a well thought out change of colors and bedding. Well done. We were quite excited to try out the pool and hot tub. The pool was heated and indoors(reason for using this location) and the hot tub was working perfectly. We couldn’t wait to get up in the morning and use it again before we checked out. We used the shower and had a great pressure and hot water. The beds were comfortable and soft with the pillow top. The air conditioning worked perfectly. All was well until… the room upstairs continually made noise past midnight. I called at that time and complained to the management. The noise lessened and probably stopped an hour later. By morning it had resumed. Kids roughhousing? Jumping? Maintenance? Hated it. Breakfast came earlier than expected because the pool was locked .The hours, unfortunately are 10am — 10pm. That’s no good if you’re leaving in the morning. And the hot breakfast consisted of biscuits, sausage links, gravy and waffles. I missed the fresh fruit and healthier options. Pros pricing, recently remodeled, beds, indoor heated pool, hot tub, staff Cons pool hours, no healthy breakfast options

We ended up here since the Claytor Lake Inn had no front desk worker in the wee hours. It’s not bad, with the usual hotel amenities. The wifi was free and seemed to work well. There was a heated indoor pool which I didn’t have a chance to test out. And there were even coin operated laundry machines down the hall. The hot breakfast actually exceeded my [low] expectations; there were such items as sausage links, biscuits and gravy, pastries, cereal, and even a make-your-own waffle station. All of the employees were pretty friendly and polite. The only nitpicks were that the shower curtain rod was one of those that curved out, and the shower curtain wasn’t wide enough to cover the increased area, leading to some shower spray on the bathroom floor. And we had arranged for a later checkout, but the housekeeper didn’t know that and knocked on the door at the standard checkout time [11AM]. But other than that, a postive experience at the Sleep Inn.
