We have travelled extensively and have eaten in many Mexican restaurants from San Francisco to Key West. There is simply nothing to compare to the taste of New Mexico green chili, it is as close to heaven as food can get, specifically tamales in Tucumcari, NM. But I digress, for a Mexican Restaraunt located in Middle Georgia, Sanchez’s Border Grill is first rate, the food is excellent and the service is outstanding. We had dinner there this evening, we were greeted warmly and promptly seated. Chips and salsa were immediately served both were excellent. We shared a quesadilla with everything n it and a chimichanga. Outstanding food and our waitress was exceptional, she was both friendly and efficient. The entire evening was a pleasure start to finish. This was our second trip here and both times we had a terrific experience. We live in Florida and make occasional trips to middle Georgia, henceforth this will be our place to go when in Dublin, Georgia.

Alrighty, let me break it down the best that I can. Food: 3 stars Atmosphere/Comfort: 2 stars Service: 2 stars Price: ~$ 10/person The menu was a tad confusing. Is it Mexican? A bar and grill? Both? It threw me off to see burgers and wings next to burritos and enchiladas and sports news on ALL the TVs. But all right, I’ll go with it. There were no lunch prices or lunch specials, so be prepared for about $ 10/person. But alas, I chugged forward and decided on a taco salad. My hubby ordered the spicy burrito. That was when we finally got our order in… It took longer for our server to acknowledge us, get our chips and our drinks than it did for our order to be brought to the table. I wondered why in the appetizer section is listed chips and salsa for $ 2 when they’re usually complimentary(which they were.) Our server approached us and said to give her just a moment and she’ll be back. A few moments later, she asked about drinks and said she’d be back for our food order, even though we had already decided what we wanted, she insisted that she’d get the drinks first and then come back. So we waited some more. Drinks arrived and she said she would be back(again) to get our food order. By this time we had already eaten about 80% of the chips. When she returned, my hubby was out of coke so she grabbed another glass to pour into his but instead of filling it with just coke, she poured more ice on top of the already ice-full glass so that only a touch of coke dribbled into it. Okay, moving on. Our food came out in like 7 minutes. Amazingly fast and it was decent. The shell on the taco salad was cooked just enough where it was crispy without being too hard. Perfection on that. None of these things really got to me until it came time to pay. I had my card ready to go as soon as she placed the ticket on the table. Well, we continued our meal, finished our meal, and then sat and waited. And waited some more. My hubby got up to go to the front to pay, but someone stopped us and said our waitress would cash us out. So we waited some more. She came by after about 5 more minutes and got my card only to return telling me it wouldn’t go through. I asked her verbatim, «y’all must not take American Express.?» She replied, «Well, we take all cards, but that one didn’t work.» I was dumbfounded. My hubby thinks that she didn’t know how to run an American Express card. If there was a chip reader in the machine, she should have put it in the chip reader, not the magnetic strip reader. When she returned with my backup card, she handed me the slip I needed to sign and then stood over me watching and/or waiting. When I waitressed, it always a courtesy to drop the ticket, thank the customer and then walk away. I really did not like feeling watched while I was figuring it up. I ended up leaving it blank, handed it back to her and then when she walked away, I reluctantly left some cash on the table because I know some restaurants require servers to cash out a percentage of their tips to food/bus/bar, etc. I know this was a lot to read, but there were a lot of nit picky things that added up to my overall frustration. After all this, I went to the store for a few things and guess what, my American Express card worked perfectly fine.
