I made reservations for Valentine’s Day to take my wife and my mom out to dinner. I then let looked at the reviews for the past year or so on Unilocal and noticed many comments about poor service at the Dublin restaurant. Thus, I called back to cancel my reservation at the Dublin restaurant and happened to get Mindy, one of the managers. I said I was cancelling my reservation due to the poor reviews. My wife and I eat at other Mimi’s Cafes in other towns and have regularly had a good experience. However, we were concerned about the reviews on Unilocal for the Dublin restaurant. Mindy asked us to give her restaurant another chance and that they were revamping the staff to ensure better service levels. Mindy then asked what would it would take to get me to still come in. I said I would come in if I my family received exemplary service. Mindy said should assign Anya as our server to ensure we would love our experience. Thus, we decided to come in. Anya delivered on the promise of good service. Mindy also checked in with us once we were seated. The restaurant General Manager Matt also came by to ensure our needs were being met. Anya came by multiple times throughout the meal to check on us, refill our glasses of water, etc. Then towards the end of the meal Anya brought by free muffins for us to take home as a token of appreciation for giving them another chance. In summary, the service and food were quite good. Anya, Mindy and Matt, thanks for ensuring we had a positive experience. Next time we are in the Dublin area we will come back.

When we walked in the hostess was chilling in the kitchen talking about the boys she liked at school. We had to walk in there to get her attention and she looked annoyed that we interrupted her anecdote. The waiter messed up or order and kept trying to up sell. He didn’t even refill our water/coffee. Food was over cooked and dry. I had the salmon. My mom had the salad. The lettuce was soggy, just like our whole experience :( They offer desert menus and I told them we wouldn’t survive. They thought I was joking…

We ate here on a rainy friday night when the wait next door at lazy dog was over an hour. We were a little concerned by the lack of wait right next door, but we tried it anyway. I’m glad we did. The food was really tasty and the service was excellent. Our server was patient with our kids, very attentive and helpful. I’d say 4 stars would be the max for any suburban mall dining experience and the only thing holding this place back is the lack of crowds likely due to past service problems and the atmosphere leaves a bit to be desired. Worth a try!

Wow what a change! This time at Mimi’s, the experience was completely different. Our server was Joanna and she was an absolute delight. She was very hard working, courteous, and just a flat out pleasure to have as our server. Somebody at this restaurant is doing things right now! I think it’s the manager Mindy. All I can say is, is that this manager absolutely knows what she’s doing. This lady is fantastic! It was a great overall experience all the way from the complimentary bread at the beginning to the main course. Great service, great food, what a difference! We honestly did not have such high hopes for this restaurant, but wanted to give it another try. We are so glad we did!

My mom and I were at the Livermore outlets and decided to have lunch here instead of in the outlet food court. We got seated right away. It was a Monday at lunch time so the place was not busy. Our server was very inattentive even though it was not busy. Also, they did not have most of the items I wanted to order — out of corn chowder, out of chicken, out of pot pies. Really on a Monday at lunch time! Once we finally ordered, it took forever to get our food. I think the cooks must have been on a break. With so few customers, the food should have been way faster. And drink refills were few and far between. I had the chicken crepes with no spinach. They were tasty and had good fillings. Not quite warm enough though! My mom had the grilled cheese sandwich. She said it was just ordinary. They used to put their grilled cheese on a parmesan bread and they did not do that here. Nothing special. The waiter did apologize for them being out of so many items and gave me two free muffins. That was a nice touch but not sure I will be back here any time soon.

We ordered the mussels to share and they were really good. The bread it came with dipped in the lemon butter sauce was delicious. We also got bread which I thought you would have to pay for because the basket was so detailed but it’s free and good, even tho the sourdough loafs could’ve been softer. I also ordered the mushroom with Brie sandwich which is a patty topped with melted Brie and mushroom caps on toasted sourdough. I was a little skeptical at first because I’ve never had Brie cheese but it ended up being pretty good. They undercooked my meat a tad but it was still good. Our server was Nicole and she was very attentive and had great people skills. Overall good dinner.

Slow. The food was good but the service was poor. The room temperature was cold. I had to wear my coat all b through my breakfast. I would not come back to this location.

should not have come to this place… but lazy dog has too many people waiting outside. this one has plenty of seats open. apparently there is an obvious reason behind: the food sucks here!

I’ve never really cared for Mimi’s but it’s always been an ok place for a quick bite. Food is usually ok. I would suggest never making a «reservation» with them. It isn’t a REAL reservation and I wish they would have told me this when I made the reservation. I realize it was a bad idea to go there for a graduation brunch on Mother’s day, but with a reservation I didn’t foresee a problem. Our reservation was at 10:00 am and we waited for almost an hour before being seated. Technically, I would have had to wait even longer if I didn’t agree to the outdoor patio seating. This was the only open area because the original seating area was not available yet. The most annoying part is that the patio was available the entire time we were being pushed back. It was the manager that finally offered up that space to us. It was very embarrassing for me to have my out of town guests waiting to be seated for that long. Basically, this was the most unorganized reservation I’ve ever had to experience. The food was cold and not very good. Overall, this was a very bad experience.

Came here a few nights ago with a friend. The restaurant was pretty empty yet the host led us to a table directly across from the kitchen door(which was open, btw). We requested to move to a booth and our waitress came over and informed us she would no longer be our waitress because we had moved out of her station… that was a little awkward. THEN, the waitress talked to another waitress in the kitchen(with the door wide open) and waitress #2 offered her our table. THEN, waitress #1 came back and told us she was our waitress again. My friend and I felt a little uncomfortable because we felt like we had inconvenienced the wait staff! But seriously, no one wants to sit next to the kitchen(the same host tried to move another couple there later that night, and they also requested a booth). We did give her a big tip though because we felt bad(although perhaps we shouldn’t have). My friend and I both ordered fish entrees. I had fries, she had country potatoes. The food was plated pretty messily but the food was surprisingly good — definitely edible, almost tasty. We also ordered the house wine(only $ 5) and drank it with the muffins/bread that are complementary. The wine was okay — not great, not terrible. What surprised my friend and I the most were the muffins! The carrot/raisin muffins were actually REALLY good — perfectly moist and soft. Overall — this place isn’t great but doesn’t deserve to be bashed as heavily as it’s been. The location is convenient, the food is edible, the restaurant is pretty cute(as least in my opinion). I promise — eating here won’t be the worst decision you’ve ever made! Also, I’m not sure why but every time I’ve ever been to Mimi’s Café, ~80% of the other patrons are always 65+. I don’t have anything against the elderly — in fact, I like eating with them because it makes me feel like I’m eating muffins straight from grandma’s oven. I just don’t understand why — I always thought Mimi’s was supposed to be a little, cute, trendy, French café. WELL maybe the grandmas in Pleasanton are just really hip.

If lazy dogs line ever get too long, come here. The workers here are very very nice. Get the chocolate mousse for dessert! I love that one

Omg, for a chain restaurant like this one, it is absolutely, completely, positively overpriced for the portion and the quality of food. The restaurant is French-themed and it poses as a trendy yet classy setting. No complaints there. The service is alright as well. The food, though. We ordered the Quiche Lorraine, Banana Nut Waffles, and Continental Breakfast… and the portions were so tiny! Also, if you eat here for brunch, they don’t give you the free bread/muffin that they offer in the evenings.

This place is horrible. We had to send back two meals. The salad had stale lettuce and the burger was raw. So raw it would make someone sick to eat raw ground beef like this. Pictures attached are all I need to say.

When I think of Mimi’s I think of a place that let’s say ”older” people go for a ”nice meal out”. It’s not the kind of place I would choose to come if the decision was entirely down to me but being in a group it seems to be the fail safe for Breakfast /Brunch. Been here a couple of time now for Brunch after a Run /Hike and both times have been less than impressed. The service is shoddy at best and the food really isn’t anything memorable, the staff also have real issues if you present them with one of the many Buy One Get One Free coupons I get mailed and due to their inability to remove one of the meals from the check when we gave them it we ended up paying for both yet they kept the coupon. Seriously, the BOGO is really the only appealing thing about coming here. Typical Breakfast fare consists of Waffles, French Toast, Oatmeal, Eggs Sausage all on par with Denny’s.

I guess I should have checked the Unilocal reviews first. I usually try not to support chain restaurants, but we were hungry so… Service was ok. Took a little while for someone to approach us after being seated. The food. OMG. I got the breakfast tacos, the wife the club sandwich. The tortillas were like cardboard. Between the three tacos I think there was one egg. No bacon as in the description. A teaspoon of guacamole. In my wife’s fries is what I hope is a burnt to black onion ring. Toast burnt and incredibly dry. Tomato pieces, not slices. I could go on… Bill is 28.21, and I figure if I go any where else and pay 28.21 I’d get so much more in return.

Please note that this my first posting on Unilocal. Our experience with Mimi’s Café gave me reason to sign up. My wife and I decided to check out Mimi’s for a Sunday brunch. We arrived at 11:00 to find this restaurant mostly empty. I thought we were just lucky. We stood and waited 5 minutes before the hostess came out to seat us. We were seated near the bar area which was fine, but we noticed a couple that ordered bloody Mary’s they thought they were so bad, they just walked out without paying. I got a chuckle out of that. Our waitress quickly appeared and seemed very pleasant and capable, placed our order and she promptly returned with our coffee and juice. From this point forward things went south. 40 minutes go by when our waitress appears with our meals. She is staring at my wife’s salad and stated that she needs to take it back to the kitchen. Mimi’s Café was a fall back when the wait at Lazy Dog was 35 minutes. looked at Mimi’s Café’s menu. pretty pricey. place was basically empty except for 5 – 10 tables. eats: brioche cheeseburger(8.95) –ordered med. rare, got medium, red, no juice. -«toasted bun,(nope, just room temperature), lettuce, pickles, red onions, tomatos, choice of cheese(wasn’t asked). with thousand island dressing. –choice of fries, salad, or soup(+.99) –salad was all greens, not spring mix. 2.5 stars crumbs: –asked for grey poupon, waiter cluelesss, then i said«mustard» got french’s –offered bread while i waited, passed. sure i wouldn’t have been impressed. –all day wine special, $ 5/glass. passed. –burger big, meat wise, as good a value as 5 guys’ thin tasteless patties no repeat, maybe johnny garlic next.

I tried to like Mimi’s, I really did! But they honestly haven’t set themselves apart from the iHop or Denny’s at all. Their food is a little pricey for what you get, although it certainly hits the spot and makes you feel full. Some of their breakfast items come with a free muffin, although not all of them. I usually just end up getting a veggie omelet while my friends get crepes or something else intricate. I suppose I like to keep it plain and simple lol. If you miss the breakfast time by even a minute, they wont serve anything off the breakfast menu sadly. Service has always been a little«meh», our waitress was busy with other tables, so I totally understood, but my date and I were waiting for the check for a good 20 minutes. If you don’t mind iffy service, then Mimi’s is a pretty decent place to pick up some breakfast chow before an early showing or something. But I still like iHop better lol.
