I really enjoyed this trail! So you park in the residential area and start your walk. There are dog bags for your dog as well. The first mile is out in the open and then you come to a gate… After that the path is very narrow. It feels like a Forrest! It’s beautiful and quiet. I went alone on a Friday afternoon with my dog and we both loved it. Make sure you pay attention to where you are going because when you walk back you will notice that there are different trails that branch off that you might not have noticed before.

I’ve lived in this area forever, but had no idea about this trail. Thanks to Unilocal for the suggestion. This is a great trail to hike if you’re in the area and it’s really hot out, because it’s mostly covered in shade by the many trees. It’s rolling with steady incline up. Only saw lizards, but could hear lots of birdsong. Pretty. Don’t worry about ticks if you’re sticking to the trail and not going into the brush. Several choices for length of hike: You can turn around at the gate for the Dublin Hills Regional Park for a shorter hike or go through and continue on to get in at least five mile round trip out and back. This would be a very pretty hike in the spring when the creek is flowing and the grass is green.

Good hike if you’re looking for something in the area. It’s definitely very woodsy! You’re in the shade for the majority of the hike, which is nice. There are steep parts during the hike that offer a bit of a challenge, which is what I like! So it works up a sweat in a short amount of time. There was a tree that broke in the middle of our hike, so we had to go under and over a couple of huge tree stumps, which wasn’t that bad. Just a heads up though. The trail ends and then continues on to another hiking trail, Dublin Hills. It was beautiful when we reached the hill. There was a lot of tall weeds to get a little further onto the Dublin Hills trail, but it wasn’t bad at all. You see a great view of the city. Nice reward for the hike. In total, it was about 1 hour and 30 minutes. Not bad for something local. It was beautiful and shady. Good for a day when it’s really hot outside, if you’re still looking for a hike.

Did a quick hike here this morning and really enjoyed it. Reminds me of the fall season on the east coast with trees leaves and crisp weather(today hah) I only went a mile in so not sure how the whole trail was, but the beginning part is relatively easy. Not perfectly flat but no crazy hills either. Also saw quite a few dogs if you’re scared of them. The only sad thing was seeing no water in the creek :(

Gorgeous lush local hike starting in a residential neighborhood. It starts out pretty basic, and suddenly turns into a deep green forest with a pretty narrow winding trail. The second half emerges onto the tops of the Dublin hills. Great place to watch sunrises!

I dig it! The signs when you get here make it easy to find the trail :) Love it! Since a lot of trails are hard to find. There is side-street parking readily available. The trail starts out dry but then you come to a gate where it says that the trail ends for bikers & horse-back riders. Once I crossed the gate, I realized why, because the trail is sometimes SUPER narrow to a point where only one person can go at a time. There is no fence to protect you from falling down a big hill. I am just saying. I am not too scared of heights but even I felt a little nervous as I hiked near the edge. Be careful when you hike because sometimes the loose dirt gives way. There are some steep inclines but nothing too terrible. It isn’t a straight hike, so pay attention! What I love about this hike is that this is the most green I’ve seen in a while when hiking. I’m used to the dryness all around. You get to a point of the hike where it connects to Dublin Regional Trail. So cool. Going in the morning there is a lot of dense fog. There are wild boars roaming with their babies, I ran into them in the morning. If you are hiking for a view I would suggest going in the afternoon once the fog has cleared. I went twice in one weekend, once in the early morning(7am) & once in the afternoon(3pm) & the view was gorgeous in the afternoon, I am just sayin’ They have lots of rock formations so you can sit & meditate. The cows leave you alone but give you death-stares. lol. All in all, I think I have found one of my fave hikes so far in the East Bay.

The Martin Canyon Creek Trail head starts off at the Silvergate neighborhood. It’s at the corner of Silvergate Drive and Bay Laurel Drives. I’ve never had any problems parking on the residential street. This is an easy trail that is out and back less than 2 miles round trip. If you want more of a challenge, cross the gate at the end of the trail that leads to the Dublin Hills. The East Bay Regional Park District extended the Martin Canyon Trail into Dublin Hills over a year ago. There is a single-track section of the trail with steep drop-offs. I don’t recommend this hike for anyone who is afraid of heights or for young children. Once you pass the narrow, shady trail portion, you can continue up to the Calaveras Ridge Regional Trail to the end. It is about a 7 mile hike with hills round trip. It is strenuous! The hills kicked my behind! Once you reach the Dublin Hills side, it’s wide open and no trees. It’s not ideal for a very hot, sunny day. There are no restrooms or water at this trail, so be prepared. Bring water, spf, hat, sunglasses and possibly a small snack. Watch out for ticks and poison oak on this trail as well. We saw some lizards and a wild turkey during the hike. There are warning signs at the gate that states there are snakes and mountain lions in the regional park but we did not encounter any… thank goodness! The trail is relatively quiet… only saw a handful of hikers out there. Plan accordingly.

Thi is a nice little unpaved trail behind some very nice houses in Dublin. It’s close enough to the freeway that you can be here 2 minutes once you get off 580. You can not here the freeway but you can still here the garbage trucks, delivery trucks and sometimes vacuum cleaners from houses. But when the wind blows the shaking leaves drown all of that out. The trail zig zags a small creek and you are under the shade of trees most of the time. Its a nice place to get away with out going away if you live in Dublin or Pleasanton.
