The one thing we can’t wait for when spring comes is the Dublin Dairy Queen to open. Our daughter worked there in her teen years. What high school age kid doesn’t want to score a job like that? They have a waiting list just to get hired, because the girls never want to leave that job until they have to. The owner is like a big protective Papa bear, he watches out for the kids that work there, he watches them get safely to their cars. He is patient and kind and gives the girls great advice. This place is a gem. Frank, the owner is a gem as well, perhaps some may say, a diamond in the rough, but he is the personality of the place. He is one of the reasons this place has had longevity and success. In a climate where so many businesses are closing, and having tremendous employee turnover, one has to ackowledge, these people know how to run a business. This is our childrens go to place when they pick their birthday cakes. Awsome! Favorite cake-Oreo!

Ah yes, the Dublin DQ — brings back pre-teen memories from the ’80’s. And today the place has not changed all that much — still crammed in the summertime with fat, white mommas and their 2 – 3 kids in tow getting cones and such. Cheap, soft-serve and mediocre fast food. But when your 11? It’s a blast!
