I’d give zero stars if I could. Not a good place for an every day person. If you are cool with being nickel and dimed and have a ton of disposable income then this is your place. Here’s my story: I just moved here from Indiana. This place was recommended by my chiropractor whom I found on Unilocal and I have a lot of respect for. I didn’t look up any reviews for Dr Meden beforehand… Which I should have. I have an autoimmune disease which causes me to have a lot of gum inflammation. My dentist in Indiana knew this and suggested a third annual cleaning to be paid out of pocket. I was ok with that. Arriving at Dr Meden’s I was impressed with the décor, so elegant and beautiful. I now know how he pays for such luxury. There was no one at the front desk. Someone finally came up and threw some forms at me, was extremely curt and retreated to the back from where she came. I finished the forms and waited. Meeting the hygienist, I told her my history and about my autoimmune disease and she went to cleaning. Everything she did was what my dentist in Indiana did within 30 – 45 mins. I didn’t leave for two hours. My normal cleaning without X-rays took two hours! With a two year old in tow… Speaking of X-rays, I kindly refused them due to my autoimmune disease. The hygienist told me «it’s the same radiation as walking in the parking lot» and Dr Meden said«it’s just like walking outside for ten minutes» and«we have no idea what’s going on in there without X-rays.» Ok, then why do I need to wear a lead vest during X-rays?Then they proceeded to do a laser or something which showed two spots that were cavities they wanted to get filled. My previous dentist had just put a watch on those spots and was watching them, however Dr Meden wanted me to get them filled. I also declined fluoride due to my autoimmune disease. I was given a lecture on the benefits of fluoride. Also, I was instructed how to floss and brush. They recommended two mouthwashes for my inflammation at $ 15 each! Two hours later I was checking out. My insurance covers two cleanings a year. Dr Meden charged me $ 130 for the cleaning because they coded it as a periodontal cleaning because I get them every four months. Maybe I’m used to Indiana hospitality or my previous dentist wasn’t as greedy? I have two young kids and stay home with them while my husband works, I don’t have a lot of money. I scheduled a cleaning which would have been free. Dr Meden and co. did exactly what my previous dentist does for free. They didn’t tell me the cleaning she was doing would cost more until I checked out(which I was extremely aggravated already after being there for two hours and getting lectures about my personal choices). I called my husband afterwards because I was upset and traumatized. He then called the office and they said«they tried to explain it to me and I wasn’t receptive.» However, they were so generous they only charged me for one of the mouthwashes! How nice, when my cleaning should have been free but cost $ 115. I will be finding a holistic dentist in Salt Lake City or go back to my dentist in Indiana when I visit. I will be recommending to everyone I know not to go there and to read all of the reviews they can find. I’m currently in a moms group of 400 moms and they also were told about my experience. Hope the $ 115 is worth it.

Dr Meden has been my dentist for many many years. I just read the other review and it prompted me to write this one. I simply don’t recognize dr. Meden in that review. He has done a lot of work on my horrible teeth and actually got them so I love showing them off: root canals, fillings, cleanings and veneers, and probably a whole bunch more that I can’t think of right now(doesn’t help my memory I am writing this at 11:30pm). My point is that this dentist has done enough work on me for him to have had ample opportunity to screw up at least once. But he hasn’t. Quite the opposite. I am very happy with the end results. And once or twice I had to go back to even off a high tooth because I didn’t notice that it was off with the anesthetic, but he always took care of it immediately and free of charge. He is friendly, very knowledgable and a total techie — he has all the latest and greatest equipment and gadgets, which I look for in a good dental practice. This review might sound a bit overly positive, but then that’s honestly how I feel about him and his staff. Meet Carolyn –his awesome assistant, and dr. Meden and I am sure you will agree with me. Well, everyone except the author of the other review.

Update to my original post. I just received a bill that was sent to my insurance on 5÷24÷2014 for $ 250 for some ADDED service that the said they did to me on 02/24/2014 coded as GINGIVECTOMYORGINGIVOPLAST. I did NOT have this service performed and am disputing it with the insurance… Please i Beg you read the 1st review that this business has received, and judge for yourself. It is done impartially and with the facts and then make your choice to go or NOT to go.
