The clean veneer masks a core of incompetence. They’re nice enough people, just not good at the practice of medicine.

I recently had my tonsils removed along with a septoplasty. I am very fearful of procedures, because I have not had many in my life. I am 25 and have one of the worst phobias of needles and IVs. The two nurses I had, Amber and Shelli, made me feel so great. They made me feel like I wasn’t overreacting, and they really sympathized with my fears. I know that my reaction to needles can seem a bit ridiculous, especially at my age, but Shelli and Amber really helped me get through it, without making me feel embarassed or ashamed. I really appreciated how gentle and calming they were. I have had many nurses in the past attempt to restrain and hold me down to «stick» me. Amber and Shelli just calmly walked me through it, and distracted me from the actual process. They really eased my fears about the surgery. All of the nurses I came into contact with in the preop were awesome. They were definitely the best nurses I have ever had. I felt very comfortable and prepared for the surgery. The anesthesiologist was also really cool. I don’t know if I ever caught his name, but he also helped ease my mind. Lone Peak nurses and anesthesiologists are the best around. I highly recommend Lone Peak Hospital for this reason alone. Dr. Dahl did my procedure and I am recovering with very little pain. I think he and the nurses did a great job explaining what I needed to do to fast track my healing process. Dr. Dahl is also very kind and reassuring. Lone Peak Hospital and Dr. Dahl made this procedure way easier than I could have imagined. I can’t thank them enough.

The emergency room service is second to none. I have zero complaints. It is Mountainstar’s billing practice that is driving my decision to go back to Intermountain Healtn Care. I have two insurances and every time either I or my wife goes to Lone Peak Emergency, several months later we get a letter stating the bill has not been paid and could we help. In all cases the Primary has already paid several months previous, but the secondary has not paid yet. According to their customer service representative this is their standard practice to speed up the payment process. In the case that prompted me to write this review, they sent the claim to my secondary insurance THESAMEDAY they mailed me the letter. Each time we receive one of these letters I spend an inordinate amount of time on the phone only to find out that the primary has already paid and they are waiting on the secondary which in most of the cases they have just recently sent the claim. In the 20+ years I was going to IHC I never had this problem. Even though Lone Peak is closer I will be going back to IHC.

My 15 year old son had his tonsils removed at Lone Peak Hospital on June 13th… we were both very nervous(not just because it was Friday the 13th :)…we arrived at 6:30 am, we were admitted upon arrival and escorted up to the surgical floor by our pre and post op nurse Kristi Harness… SHEWASAWESOME! She was very kind and made us feel at ease right away! The entire staff was fantastic!!! Even though are closer options to my home, the journey to Lone Peak is well worth it!
