Liones has been my neighborhood pizza joint since my family moved to Downingtown 2 years ago. We order a pizza and wings from them just about every week and I’ve been happy with then up until recently. In the past few months or so, something has changed with their pizza crust. The first time we tasted the new crust, my husband thought we had accidentally been given gluten free pizza, or perhaps they had forgotten to add an ingredient to the crust. We thought it was a fluke, but we’ve ordered several times since then(hoping it would get better), but it hasn’t. The cheese and sauce are fine, but I can’t get past the flavorless, cardboard crust. I’m giving them 3 stars because other things — like chicken fingers, fries and wings are good. But I’m going to have to find a new neighborhood place for pizza.

It’s a 2.5 … Unilocal needs to add the half stars! Sunday out with my son and we stopped in for a bite to eat. Joey has been here several times and his recommendation brought us in. Walk up to the counter and order your food move to the end and request a beverage(beer) is available and nonalcoholic as well, then pay. Find a table and the food is delivered. I ordered a rigatoni and meat sauce special that was posted on the special message board outside and Joey ordered a small ham and cheese calzone. When I placed my rigatoni order the young man behind the counter turns to a co-worker and in an abrupt tone shouts«do we still got rigatoni»? another guy chimes in with«I think we got some in back» I should have canceled right then and there!!! So, as this is MY first time here I go with it and when it was delivered to the table although hot, the pasta was so over cooked I couldn’t decipher if it was rigatoni or bits of chopped linguini… Lets say the pasta wasn’t two days left over, it had potential, the meat sauce was decent. Joey’s ham calzone was very good. He likes the way they make the crust and pack it with ham and cheese. When purchasing a «meal» like I did you receive a warmed garlic bread loaf and a salad, both were very tasty So, I understand this is a Downingtown icon and next time I will order a calzone or a pie and try one of those. Maybe I caught them on a off day, but not everyone that comes in is a «longtimer» and you have to capture everyone1

Overall decent place. I had the sausage and pepper calzone with mushrooms. It was pretty good. The crust was crispy and the inside wasn’t watery. I also had a slice of the loaded baked potato stuffed pizza. It was pretty good as well. The other stuffed pizza looked really good. All the other people I was dining with seemed to really enjoy their meals as well. Their regular pizza was ok. It wasn’t bad, it wasn’t great. The inside was very clean and we’ll decorated. It didn’t look like an ordinary pizzeria.

Ordered a pizza and steak stromboli to go from Liones on 10⁄23. The pizza, with extra cheese was excellent and the cheesesteak stromboli was large, very tasty, and came with a lot of sauce on the side for dipping. The place was really hopping with eat in customers as well as others waiting for takeout. I can understand why. Excellent Italian ! I will be returning !!

I used to frequent this place many Fridays when I lived in town. It’s a good place. Like the pizza. Service was always good. They are crowded on Friday.

My favorite! I wish they delivered — my only criticism! I’m obsessed with their pepperoni bites, salads, and stuffed pizza. yum!

Nice staff, quick service, and decently priced. Been in town working for a month and I can bet 90% of lunches have been here. Normally I burn out on pizza but they are still going strong. And if my kid has a food allergy, it’s MY responsibility to ask what is in the food. That part of being a child’s PARENT.

Lione’s is the best pizza place in Downingtown area hands down. All the food is always amazing and the people are always welcoming and nice. All the food is great there but I highly recommend the Spaghetti pizza or Buffalo Chicken Cheesesteak.

Great Food Great Service ! love how they have everything out on display rather than some menu. The staff is very cool, ask for a sample of something you see, always willing to satisfy customer. Will definitely go again, and again…

I rarely give five stars and just NEEDED to for Lione’s. Pizza is the best I have had and I love the Monday & Tuesday special for chili and a rice ball! Staff is super friendly and very welcoming! My go to «joint» in Downingtown!

This is the best pizza in Downingtown. We’ve also tried the wings which are delicious. The service can be slow on weekends because they get busy but everyone who works there is very nice!

The food is decidedly average, but the price says otherwise. I’ve eaten here a few times, since I went to school across the street at Pulse. I couldn’t really eat there unless I had a decent tip before lunch. Most times, for the money, I’d rather eat at Wawa.

I don’t get all the raving reviews of this place. It’s ok at best. The customer service sucks. It’s almost like a buffet where they don’t tell u what is actually in everything. We have a child with a raw egg allergy and ordered a slice only to find out an hour later they don’t mention an ingredient on the menu stick attached to the pizza under the sneeze guard. When questioned about it they had no response. Apparently it was our fault as parents to question every ingredient instead of reading the description they put out. I know a lot of people love this place for their generous pours of wine and fairly priced food, but when all is totaled up it’s like Sbarro with alcohol.

Good pizza and sandwiches, but the best part about this place is their crab bisque! It’s the best I’ve ever had, unfortunately they never have it when I’m back east visiting. Wish it would be a regular menu item!

Update: Good food, freshly made. The Pizza is good, but go before they get busy, as the crust quality seems to vary when they are busy, and isn’t getting fully spun or cooked. Fast friendly service, with a good selection of brewski’s available.

So I’m an idiot and walked in without really paying attention to what I was ordering. I ended up with what I thought was going to be a NY style thin crust pizza and instead I got a behemoth of a piece. It was one of their stuffed pizzas and had a lot of the meat on top(sausage and pepperoni), with plenty of cheese oozing out of the middle. Very tasty, but also quite greasy(I blame the meat). I was extremely happy to see beer on tap and ordered a draft of Stella. Definitely a good place to call for pizza!
