Laura is a amazing stylist she is wonderful with children, even if they move she makes no mistakes, has tons of patients and especially listens to what you want. She also colors and cut my hair to perfection. If you ever need a expert in color or cut for boy, girls, babies, grown men that don’t like change barbers etc… She is your girl she won’t disapoint.

Love how Jesse is so up to date with hair dos and color. He totally gave me the exact look I asked for! Super comfortable at his salon and know that I’m getting all the attention I need instead of just another person in a chair. So glad to have found my permanent hair stylist, I’m sure everyone knows how difficult it is to find someone that is a true artist.

This is my first time here and I am super happy. Called in on a Saturday hoping to god they can get me in last minute and they did! First yay.
Found the place really easily, its upstairs kinda hidden but my boyfriend spotted it fast. If i was alone I probably would have passed it up as it is very close the the corner and there was allot of activity. There was a super cute looking farmers market going on downstairs, wish i wasn’t in a hurry.
Ok i get in the salon, its not super fancy but its nice. I meet Laura and another young lady who are both super cool. I tell Laura what I want. My hair was blonde grown out badly and needed a serious touch up plus i needed a cut. She didnt take forever we chatted, it was fun, they gave me a tasty cake pop and candy. Really nice staff.
WOW she did a fantastic job ofmy hair color. she perfectly matched the color through out so you can not tell where she did the roots. it looks very very natural and nice and even. I love it. she even lightened my eyebrows! my boyfriend keeps telling me how much he loves my hair. i am super super happy! it feels super healthy n shiny. i am very very happy i came here! i plan to come back this week to get my hair done for my xmas company party. This was a great Unilocal find i highly recommend.

I Love Jesse! He gets down when it comes to hair. I have been going with him for about 8 years and I leave happy every time! Wouldn’t go with anyone else. :)

I got my pixie cut here, Laura really knows how to cut hair to be stylish and edgy. One thing that I like about her work is that she really takes her time to ask you what you want, she is also careful and meticulous about how she cuts her hair. She typically razors my hair which gives it a really sharp fringe and great texture. One complaint is that she has cut my hair shorter than I would have liked in the past but the hair cut usually grew out really nicely. The cost for a women’s wash, cut, and style usually runs me about 40 dollars. I would say it is well worth it, given the technique and skill that Laura brings to the table.

Laura has been my hair stylist for about 7 years. She’s an amazing hair stylist and is hella patient (I’m afraid of change ha ha ha). With that said, Laura is great at communication, I trust her judgment and respects my boundaries. I love this place, because I don’t feel pressured to try something I don’t feel comfortable doing and not judged for it. In addition to that, she works with my schedule. I can’t stress how much I appreciate that. Do to my hectic work schedules, we’ve had appointments as early as 7:30 am and done just in time to make it to work in down town L.A. Thanks Laura! :)

Jesse is the best hairdresser at Mathew Lauren Salon!

I am quite picky about hairdressers and have been searching for years for someone who could wow me with their skills and not cost me an arm and a leg. Laura is that person. She is the first person who didn’t depend on me for direction as to how to style my hair. I am clueless as to hair styles and hate it when hairdressers need me to tell them what to do. «You are the expert,» I always say. Laura didn’t mind my ignorance. She took charge and gave me a whole new look. I love it! The best part is that the prices are reasonable too.

Jesse is a talated hairdresser with a eye for perfection. If your looking to change your look he is the guy to work wonders for he is highly skilled in high extention. once Anna Nichole Smith hair dresser. He will make you feel and look like a Diva.

Got a haircut by Jesse, the guy was spot on with what I wanted. He’s a pro, since my haircut I’ve got my whole family going to him. Jesse knows all the new styles. I tried three other salons down Downey Ave and none of them compare.

Laura from Mathew and Lauren did an excellent job on my hair color and cut. The shop is so cute and all the employees are really nice. The prices are really good and the quality is amazing. I love my new hair style thank you Laura.

Jesse is an independent hair stylist that recently planted his creative works at Mathew Lauren. I’ve been getting my hair cut and styled by him for 3 years now because no one can quite do the awesome cuts that he can do for me. If you have a particular style in mind, he lets you know whether or not it will work with your hair type, and face shape. If you have no idea what to do with your hair, Jesse has always got ideas of how to make you look your sexiest! He’s A-​M-​A-​Z-​I-​N-​G!!!

I have followed Laura wherever she has worked for the past 5 years, I love my hair every time she cuts it. My girlfriend has been going to her for about 7 years, we wouldn’t let anyone else touch our hair. :D

This Salon use to be in South Gate but it’s now in Downey. I have been getting my hair done here for years and I love it every time I get a hair cut or a new color. The owner Laura is awesome I won’t do my hair with anyone else every time I get my hair done I get so many complements. The other hairstylists are great too you won’t go wrong coming here and they are very affordable. I love the new place and everyone is very welcoming, outgoing, and friendly they make you feel very comfortable and relaxed.

This place is now called Estabans. Booo.
But Laura (former owner) still works there. YAY

I’m definitely a fan! Great experience. I called to make an appointment, it’s a small shop that shares a parking lot with a pancake house on the east side of Atlantic just south of Firestone. My curly hair did not intimidate Lauren, she listened to what my hair troubles were while she washed my hair and talked about her plan to make my hair more manageable and assured that we’d still be able to keep the features that I liked. Lauren shaped and styled my hair. I got some tips for the upkeep and left feeling very happy, even had an extra pep in my step!

One of the best haircuts ever! Number 1– they gave me an appointment after the shop had closed which was awesome because nobody was there. Number 2– the stylist LAURA just asked me what I wanted, I told her I wanted an A line cut. She not only washed, cut and styled my hair for $ 30 but she also gave me styling tips (I have really thick straight hair) as she was doing my hair. I was totally comfortable and I will definitely be coming back :)

Simply put, LaurA is a hair GOD! I can’t say I’ve ever been happier with a hair cut as I am at this point! I wish I would have found this place sooner.
I’ve been putting off having my hair cut for almost a year… Bad Trish, I know. I called up the shop around 2 and she was able to accommodate me for a 5:30 appointment. The shop is very modest. The salon has comfy black velvet couches and pictures of James deanish looking models and pin up girls line the walls. The staff here is amazing. So friendly and inviting. I am socially inapt but she made me feel very comfortable and relaxed.
My hair is a nightmare. Super long, wavy/​curly and thick. I can’t tell you how many times a hairstylist has cringed as soon as I walked in the door or asked me to style my own hair because their arm was tired. But the owner Lauren took a look at the picture I brought in and quickly went to work. She thinned out my hair and gave me exactly what I wanted. This salon is an absolute diamond in the ruff. She cut and styled my hair for $ 30 dollars WOW I have paid twice that and never had a haircut as amazing as the one i received yesterday. Already getting tons of compliments this place deserves more than 5 stars!

They effed up my hair. Twice! The best the second stylist could tell me was «I can do your eyebrows for free on your next visit?» First of all, if you messed up my hair, why offer me free eyebrows? Shouldn’t it be a free cut? And thirdly. why on earth would I come back a third time?!
They get the stink-​eye from me.
