This is my FAVORITE Peruvian restaurant! It’s a little hidden treasure in a strip mall. The Lomo Saltado is the best I’ve ever had! Delish! You must try this hidden treasure!

Good food The only problem is we waited 15 min just to get a drink order in and then another 45 minutes for the food. Also we had to ask for the bread after 30 min then the lady took our green sauce and gave it to another table. RUDE The guy was cool though

Went for lunch once, about a month after they first opened. We were the only customers, the AC was off and very uncomfortable. I noticed the prices were high but we ordered anyway. The waitress told us they were out(seriously?) and to order something else. We ended walking out and haven’t gone back since. We never got the toasted bread, which according to other’s reviews seems to be their one redeeming item. Seems they haven’t improved much.

I love the food here. The chef knows what he’s doing. The only downfall is the one waitress that’s always there. She has 0 personality but I’ve learned to live with it. The food is what keeps me coming here, and why I would recommend it.

Great spot! If you’re driving by you can easily miss just remember it’s in the shopping center. The food is delicious, service is fast don’t think we waited more than 10 – 15 minutes for our food. Clean, good customer service, reasonable prices and good chill ambiance. I recommend the Lomo Saltado or if you prefer chicken the Pollo Saltado is also tasty.

My mom and I usually come to this little Peruvian spot during the weekends whenever I visit her in Downey! She is a regular at this restaurant and always speaks very highly of it. Service is not the best, the girls don’t really seem to enjoy their job and the place can be understaffed at times. For exampled, one day we were having lunch a family just got up and left because they were not attended. Luckily, i have never had that problem. Food wise, the food is ok, not the best Peruvian food I’ve had. The ceviche definitely needs more flavor, it just seems very plain to me. The arroz con mariscos is really bomb though! What i really liked about this place is they serve cause rellena. If you have never had causa rellena i highly recommend it! Great appetizer! I’ve yet to try their lomo saltado, I can cook that myself at home. As far as parking, this place is located in a shopping plaza so there is always plenty of parking.

Delicious food ! We have been coming here for years. My husband and I always order the same thing, the papas a la huacaina for an appetizer, Aji de Gallina for entrée, and alfajores cookies for dessert. You can’t go wrong with these, esp paired with the delicious pieces of toast accompanied with the spicy pesto dipping sauce that comes with it. The prices have gone up in the last few years but overall it’s still a delicious meal. However, do not order the above if you have any issues with dairy — the sauces are packed to the brim with parmesan cheese and cream. The only suggestion I would have, if the owners happen to be reading — I would suggest coming up with a kids menu. My kids are at an age where they finally like the Aji de Gallina, and all 3 are able to split one plate amongst themselves provided we order an additional side of rice. But it wasn’t long ago when they were toddlers, and we had to bring in their Happy Meals from McDonalds if we wanted to eat there. Something simple for them would be great. Also, it gets pretty warm inside during the summer If you’re feeling adventurous, the ceviche mixto is a delicious meal in itself, filled with all sorts of tasty and tangy fish and seafood items.

Decent place for Peruvian food. We were in the area and on this Peruvian food kick. That complimentary bread you get at the beginning though… it’s so perfectly toasted and buttered. I ordered my favorite, lomo saltado. The steak could have been more tender and the fries could have been better. It would have made for a better dining experience if the servers smiled a bit. They were good at fulfilling our requests though.

My first time at this restaurant, I ordered Lomo Saltado. The Lomo Saltado was good but it was missing THE taste of an authentic Peruvian Lomo Saltado. The place is nicely decorated and they have a large menu, I also think the waitress should be a lot more welcoming.

Reviews are all over the place so I decided to take a chance. Went for dinner, there was only 1 other family seated, the waitress saw us when we walked in & said to sit wherever we wanted. She brought us menus, & returned after a few mins to take our order. After she brought our drinks along with a basket of toasted french bread with green aji. PROS– Ceviche de pescado was flavorful Green Aji actually had a kick to it Arroz con Pollo was flavorful, chicken was fully cooked too Server was really polite Free soda refills CONS — They need to get ceiling fans or actually use the central air cause the standalone a/c or whatever it was jus circulates hot a** air, therefore making it super stuffy. Lomo saltado had oily fries, meat wasn’t seasoned, basically no flavor whatsoever on this Knocked off 1 star because of the Lomo, I will come back but maybe try something else, NOT the Lomo though. I did see they have Peruvian breakfast so maybe next time.

It was our first time here. We were told to sit anywhere we liked. After a minute the waitress brought our menus. And then another minute later she came back and asked if we knew what we wanted. We never received a welcome, how are you?, I’ll be your waitress. She just went straight into, «You know what you want?» That to us was rude, unprofessional, and it made my boyfriend upset. I was a waitress for 3 and a half years and I know what is proper and not. We ordered a chicha morada immediately and I honestly didn’t like it. I’ve had better chicha elsewhere. When I asked her how big was the portion of choclo and cheese all she said was, «It’s an appetizer.» Well no $#!t it’s an appetizer as I saw it on the appetizer list, what I’m asking is the portion size! Not all appetizers are the same size! Then I told her okay how big is it… and then she demonstrated with her hands. More negative service from this place. When it was time to order the food we didn’t order a lot because we were already bothered by the service that we were afraid the food was going to be crap. We ordered the appetizer choclo with cheese and a pollo saltado. The food was good. We especially liked the choclo and cheese because it’s a traditional Ecuadorian combination and it was tasty. By this time, the waitress’s attitude got better and she was being polite and what not. But they still get 2 stars because it was a terrible start and the service ruined our experience. I honestly think we’ll only go back to order the choclo TOGO lol

This place knows how to cook a plantain! That was honestly my favorite part of the meal. I also ordered a steak medium rare, which came to my table well done. It was still flavorful, but why ask how I want my steak cooked if it’ll be overcooked anyway. They get bonus points for their awesome plantains, though, so definitely get some of those!!!

I was hesitant to try due to the Unilocal reviews and decided to take a chance. the service was great, the bathrooms were clean, the food was hot and the drinks were cold I asked multiple questions regarding the menu and the waitress was extremely helpful! The waitress was constantly checking to see if we were ok. I will be back.

I was a huge, what you call huge fan of this place. I lovED that their portions were a good size, and that their meat was always so nice and juicy and extremely tender. Their dishes always had the right spices… long story short, the place was delicious. Well, now their seafood is not the same. The fish tastes a bit rubbery(not fresh). Their lomo lacks that juicy tenderness. Their rice seems like it’s a day old and the potatoes on the lomo are not crispy like they use to be. I didn’t mind that their prices were a little bit on the expensive side because their food was worth it, now I’ll think twice before coming. It’s a bit of a disappointment because this place use to be my #1 Peruvian spot. Sadness.

Came here to meet a friend for after work, who swore that this place was fantastic. Unilocalers seem to be divided about the place, so here’s my take on the whole experience: There were two ladies serving, one of whom seemed to know what it takes to be pleasant and the other one who was just«eh, you’re intruding on my time». Truth also about the tables not being cleaned up — looked like the lunch service had not been cleared by 5 pm. Server says if I wanted to sit at a table, she would have to still clear it. Eh, what? Having read through some of the reviews, I was prepared to be utterly disappointed by the food and its quality. I was neither utterly let down nor blown away: Choclo — that giant kernelled corn on the cob, served with a lot of melted but quite bland butter, and some sliced white mild cheese — a good appetizer. Lomo Saltado(we requested it divided) — on the receipt(Dividir a 2) — is a lot of rice and potatoes in proportion to the bit of grilled meat. It was just okay, and for the price, cannot complain. Tallarin Verde, or as the server corrected me — Linguine Verde — although that’s not what was on the menu. Anyways… I requested this as a thicker sauce and not soupy, and she seemed to totally get it. Maybe the way this is served is usually soupy? I don’t know. It was a generous portion but also still a bit on the bland side. And off menu: Fish tacos — a good crunch on the fried fish, fresh shredded lettuce, chopped onions and tomatoes — I asked for it all to be on the side, as I was taking them home. The server again got it, and packed it as requested, fish and veggies separately. I’ve had better and tastier. The saving grace was the more pleasant, although slightly oblivious server. Maybe I should get a beer next time to up the grade. Lol.
