Yuck. Pizza is bland and crust is like cardboard. I tried the cheese ravioli… I would have done better opening a can of Chef Boyardee. Its a shame, because there are two other really tasty, albeit not Pizza restaurants in this little strip mall. A decent pizza joint would have been a solid addition. There’s at least three other pizza places in the area that you should try… Scusa Mi? No.

My buddy and I eat at a different pizza place every Friday for lunch after our workout. We decided to try Scusa Mi Pizza and had to get the Double Dough. We had a 12 and 14 inch pizza for about $ 21. Pretty good deal for DD. One of the best Double Dough pizzas I have had but there wasn’t enough sauce on it, thus the 4⁄5 star. I would definitely go back again and so far Scusa Mi Pizza is in my top 5.

I was disappointed when I asked the guy working behind the counter how to say the name of the restaurant and he responded very matter of factly in a monotone voice«Scusa Mi Pizza.» My coworkers and I were convinced that the proper way to say the name of the restaurant was in a high pitched Mario like voice«SCUSAMI!» So that was a little sad. So they have a buffet. It’s kinda like Cici’s, but maybe a little bit better? But less options. The pizza they use in the buffet doesn’t seem to be as nice as ordering an actual pizza. But that’s understandable. They had something like a vodka pasta and some breadsticks. A passable salad. And 3 – 4 pizzas. Overall the value was good, but the food was kinda heavy. The normal prices seem a little higher than other pizza places. I haven’t had a chance to try it though so I will try another time.

Very poor customer service and false advertising. They offer 20% off online ordering for first time customers. We were prepared to make a big purchase($ 100+) for a party. BUT, The online ordering system doesn’t allow new customers to sign up, so my husband called to ask about the online ordering and the manager said it was broke and wont be fixed. We asked if he would honor the 20% off and he wouldn’t! If the system is broke, then take it off your website… Plain and simple! This was 2 weeks ago and still visible on the site and broken on the back end. Will not spend money at a place that treats customers this way…

Got completely wrong pizza from them. The ingredients stated on the menu were missing or substituted with something else. The taste was terrible! They put sliced tomatoes, what made the dough completely raw. Could not eat it(((( Also their evening stuff looks like ex-cones.

Went here with my 2 kids(4 y.o. son and 8 y.o. daughter) after an AM of last minute Xmas shopping. Got there right after they opened, so it was just the 3 of us and the coworkers. Ordered a slice of cheese for my daughter, a slice of sausage for my son. Pieces were huge(wish I could have italicized and bolded that) and tasty. Picked up their menu for future take-out…love the variety and the toppings, and the desserts look great. I think it’s time to try something else than Dan’s… Will re-review when I order something more substantial than 2 solo pieces of pie, but looking forward to coming back!

When this new pizza place opened up, I thought it was nice to see a new choice but wasn’t all that excited, afterall it is just another pizza place. Several months have gone by and I hadn’t tried it until I went to a friend’s house for some drinks and she pulls out this take-out container full of what she called«fluff». They were these little pillow-like bite size pieces of dough seasoned with Parmesan cheese and garlic and they tasted amazing. When she told me that she got them from Scusa Mi AND that an order of them was only $ 3, I could barely believe it. Needless to say, the next day I found myself back at Scusa Mi getting another order of fluff. I have yet to try anything else from here, but what I do like is that they have a pretty comprehensive menu for a pizza place. I also notice that they have both a great lunch special for a slice of pizza and pop and they also have a lunch buffet which would be nice to try. I will have to come back to this place to try the other stuff, but it looks good.

Having driven by this place EVERY day I go to work and watching them build the store out to opening, I have to say I’ve been curious for awhile. Combined with our need to maximize our Entertainment Book coupon purchases some more(they expire on Nov 1st, who knew?) we found a coupon for 50% off a pizza with Scusa and ordered up. Call on the phone, and they were patient enough to explain some questions: Difference between double dough and pan — Double dough is essentially like thin crust, but thicker. Cooks on a thin crust pan, but more crust. Pan is their more quintessential pan pizza… since the wife had a sore throat and wanted something softer, we went with the pan. I also asked about mushrooms. For those that have read my past reviews, I love mushrooms, but am snob about canned mushrooms. Let’s be honest, canned mushrooms taste horrible, and it’s very obvious when pizzeria’s use canned(they’re strange texture and flavor just messes things up). He assured me on the phone that the mushrooms were fresh, and sauteed to help add some flavor. Excellent. After 2 – 3 minutes of phone time, ordered up a 16 inch pan pie with mushrooms and pepperoni(wife’s favorite topping). We picked it up, and the pizza definitely felt«heavy». At home when we opened the box, we were happily greeted to a gigantic pizza 14 inch pizza, smothered in cheese(they do NOT skimp on the cheese), with plenty of pepperoni and delicious mushrooms.(I mean delicious. the wife kept eating the mushrooms even after we were full). The crust, while pale and lacking color, was soft and chewey in the middle and little crisp on the outside. Excellent texture and just what the wife needed on her sick day. Verdict: Pan pizza was tasty, and the 16 inch was wayyy to much for the two of us(though we finished it a regretted it while lying in bed holding our happy/unhappy bellies). Great quality ingredients, great friendly service, looking forward to finding some time to check out their lunch buffet! While it’s not as cheap as a Domino’s or Pizza hut, the quality is definitely better. Is it worth the price? I’m still not quite sure… with a coupon it was perfect price range. Only one way to find out though… time to order some more food!

The pizza here deserves 4.5 stars from me. However I gave it only 3 because the prices are way, way over priced. Way too much for just pizza. The food was very good, great service, good ambiance, fast serving of our food, however again, the prices are way out of line, so eating here is NOT a very good value.

On my first visit months ago when they first opened I wasn’t impressed with their sliced ready to go pizza, I actually told myself and others that I would never go back. However a co worker urged me to go back to do their $ 8.99 buffet for lunch, he paid so I accepted. Well I am glad I went, I discovered my true love for pizza here after trying their White pizza. I absolutely LOVE this pizza and seriously can’t get enough of and I have to admit I am now there every Friday for lunch. I actually call ahead to see if they will have the White pizza on buffet, they don’t but they ask what time I will be there and always prepare one just for me. GREAT customer service! I really like this place and I am very glad I gave them a second chance.

Do I dare use twitter hashtags on this one? #DoingWorkSon #IOrderedOnline #Munchies Now that I am back from a relaxing vacation in Mexico, I was totally craving pizza. So sound the horns and whip me up a 16″ sausage & mushroom. Of course I ordered online so my computer was doing the cooking… LOL! Oh yeah comfort food, thanks again fellas.

This is my first time trying this place even though I literatly live a block away from here. Ordering for pick up over the phone was easy and the employee was very polite and answered all my annoying questions about the caprese salad(I’m very picky about those). The food was ready in 20 mins and when I went to go pick it up I was greeted by some of the friendliest staff ever. Loved that. I got the Bread sticks and the caprese salad. The salad was awesome. There was a good amount of mozzarella, which I’m very particular about and the bread sticks were fresh, soft and warm. Yumm! My boyfriend got the huge calzone with cheese, bacon, onion and garlic. That was amazing, they put huge chunks of garlic in it and we love garlic! We also got 6 wings to share with me medium sauce and those were good too Their medium sauce is more mild though, so next time we will get the hot. All around great place.

OK, I’m editing this b/c originally gave it 4 stars and had mixed emotions but the store manager, Mike reached out to me after reading my review and completely changed my mind about this place. He made everything better by a simple message and even credited me toward another order. I do have to say that my family does enjoy the food… I have ordered from here a total of 3 times now and although the first experience could have been better, I’m glad I gave it another shot. So, for all you foodies in the area, check out this place b/c the wide variety they offer on the menu will surprise you. Service with a smile is always appreciated and I’m happy to say the store manager is from this decade and up to date on knowing what social media is and how customer reviews happen to make or break a business.

My workplace and I were looking for a good pizza around the area and found this place on Unilocal so we thought we’d give it a try. For the price they charge and the nice presentation they give through their site and menu, we thought we were in for a good treat. [rant] We ordered two pizzas and when we opened up the boxes we knew they weren’t going to be all that great. The spinach on the Margarita pizza was withered. The tomatoes were not fresh. The crust, although claimed that it’s made fresh daily looked like cardboard and tasted really bland. The sausage and pepper pizza was not too bad, but still the crust is just horrible. One positive thing I can say though is that the sauce was probably one of the best sauces I have ever had! [/rant] Yes, I probably should have called them to see how management would rectify the situation, but in the same respect, they should not have sent out pizzas that looked as bad as they did. Update: I was contacted by the owner recently. I’m impressed that a company takes the initiative to maintain a good online presence so I’ve changed my rating from one to two stars and reworded my review to not be so harsh.

I am by no means a newcomer to Scusa Mi Pizza and am so glad that they’ve moved to the new location at the corners of Belmont and Maple in Downers Grove. Tonight my family ate in at the restaurant so that we could make our toy donation for their«Toys For Tots» drive. We got a $ 5 chip towards our pizza for our donation! Nice! Tonight we tried the Cheesy Beef pizza and it did NOT disappoint! I love their Italian beef sandwiches and their pizza, so this combo seemed like a slam dunk… and it was yummy!

One of the best pizza places in Downers. Have yet to get a bad pie from them. My personal favorite is the double dough pizza. What is really good is unlike most places they usually have good deals going on(20% off first online order for example). I recommend following them on Twitter or Facebook to stay in the loop on the deals. I do kind of wish they would not have moved locations(they were only a few blocks away) but i can understand they needed more space and maybe the convenience store next to them wasn’t available, but that’s nitpicking. The inside of there new location is a little fast food looking and not really a place I would go if I wanted to eat out, but they always have plenty of tables and the staff is very friendly. You wont find better pizza in town.

We stopped by to order take-out at Scusa Mi 15 minutes before close and were greeted warmly by their very friendly staff. The digs were clean, inviting and very family friendly. I had the baked cheese ravioli with marinara and my husband had the meatball sub. There was nothing particularly noteworthy about either dish but they were tasty, especially when we added crushed red pepper to the sauce. We are looking forward to trying their pizza the next time we go.

Not too shabby for the new(est) pizza place in town. We ordered tonight and paid $ 26 for two large pizzas(one cheese and one sausage) and a half order of breadsticks. Definitely cannot argue with that price. The pizza is somewhere above the standard chain restaurants(pizza hut, dominoes, etc) and somewhere below the more established chains and local favorites(home run inn, angelos, etc). Their pizza has a more general taste to it than what I’m used to growing up in Chicago. With fluffier dough and a general lack of seasonings, it has an American taste in comparison with the more Italian based pizzerias in the area. However, that’s not saying it’s bad– it’s just different. I still ate 6 squares and a breadstick! One thing I certainly wouldn’t order again from this restaurant was their breadsticks. They left a really bad taste in my mouth. I’m thinking they are just cooked with something that I don’t normally associate with Italian food(some kind of oil or seasoning), but I can’t pinpoint what that is. My brother swears the first time he had it that the pizza was one of the best pies he’s ever had and feels this order does not represent his first visit. He’s already talking about ordering at another time to prove his point. All in all, I’d give it 3 stars and a «maybe» for future consideration!

[Note, this review was written for the downtown branch that is closed now, it looks like it was merged into the reviews for the main restaurant on Maple.] Not bad for a good local pizza experience. For family pizza night it was much better than any of the chain options. The thin crust pizza is well done — I’m from St Louis so I appreciate an alternative to the typically heavy Chicago specialty. The sauce could have been a bit more tasty. For an place with such an Italian name, I was surprised that they just carried plain old sausage, no Italian sausage option. Kids liked it, so we’ll definitely be ordering again for the group.

First off this is the best name I have ever seen for a pizza place — hands down. It reminds me of the creepy guy in Euro Trip that is in the train scene. Anyways I stopped in for a panerotti and although it was a bit different than what I am used to it wasn’t bad. It was a lighter version that lacked the familiar rolled crust on the outside. It was more pale in color than I am used to but that might have also contributed to the lighter more airy feel of it. The major issue I had with it was the sauce was under-seasoned and a bit too acidic for my taste. Im not opposed to a fresh sauce that isn’t cooked to death but you have to season it right to get the most out of it. Like always the panzerotti wasn’t bad but it wasn’t the gut-buster I was looking for either. It reminds me more of a spring version of what I consider a heavy winter dish.
