I went in for a true shave and a haircut. Excellent work. Solid skills. I’m highly satisfied with the my hair and my clean shave.

Mike is great. I just had my first cut with him and it looks real good. He takes his time and makes sure the haircut ends up where I want it. This is a small operation — only two chairs and when I was here Mike was the only one cutting hair. Luckily I caught him right when he opened and I didn’t have to wait. I think the Mackhard 40’s «ring-​a-​ding-​ding» atmosphere (from all these franchises) is a bit forced but who cares — the haircut is good!
A men’s cut cost me $ 19, which is a couple bucks higher than other barber places around — but I think it was worth it. A cut for my 7 year-​old is $ 15, but it’s $ 30 for both of us together — next time that’s what we’ll do. My one complaint is a small one: The «hot lather» for my neck was ice cold. Again, I caught Mike as he was opening up so it didn’t have time to warm up. No biggie. I’ll definitely be back!

I’m from KC and living in Downer Grove are temporarily and found myself in need of a haircut as my wig was getting shaggy.

Great barbershop! Love the quaint atmosphere. Mark is awesome! I have been going to Mark for over five years now, and I’m glad I found him here. Price is great, service is awesome! They pay attention to details. Love it!

I am big on reviews and this place deserves the five star reputation it has earned. I went in for a haircut from Mark and a straight shave from Michael. They didn’t disappoint! Mark cut my hair a few weeks before my wedding and I literally asked him to make my hair shorter about six times. Without complaint or hesitation he was happy to make the requested adjustments. He does the best job around, no questions. I have decided to have him cut my hair for my wedding. Big only does he know what he is doing and cut hair extremely precise, but he is totally a personable guy.
I decided I want to have my groomsmen and myself get a straight shave the day of the wedding. I tried out this place. Michael did the best job I have ever seen. Talk about precision and accuracy! I have been nicked in the past but not here. Absolutely recommend!

I love this place. I have been going to Michael for a long time. The best hair cuts I have ever had. He is always consistent and very accomidating to my schedule. The shop is completely remodeled on the inside. Very clean, nice big TV and brand new chairs. Michael takes walk ins, but I always call ahead which I recommend. I highly, highly recommend this place.

Mike is the best barber I’ve ever had. I drive in from Wheaton just to see him. He’s personable, reliable, and always does good work. Be sure to get his phone number, making an appointment just requires sending him a quick text.
I really like the Mackhard barber-​owned business model, which is was better than the corporate BS at a place like GreatClips. Do yourself a favor and build a relationship with a REAL barber. Like Mike. You won’t regret it.

Mike’s been cutting hair ever since he was allowed a pair of scissors. I stumbled upon his work three years ago while searching for a maestro that could handle my thin, wispy hair. Mike gave me such a great cut that I’ve been following him from barber shop to barber shop since. He’s such a genial man that I feel invested in his hair cutting career, thoroughly enjoying watching his hair cutting prowess take off. I would never dream of letting anyone else touch my hair.

Love this shop! Michael is the best. I drive up from Joliet just for him. Walk-​ins are totally cool but on the safe side call ahead if you’re in a rush.
