$ 0.31 to make the food«spicy.» Screw you. Went here because it was a quick place to go from the hospital. Their portions are huge. But so are my shits often. Unfortunately the latter probably tastes better. Everything taste like it’s been dipped in honey. The general Taos chicken was soggy. The Kung Pow was sticky sweet. And it dripped from my head to my feet. The giant containerof egg drop soup and hot and sour soup were inedible. The egg drop soup tasted like raw eggs. In the hot and sour soup was sweet. It was a good thing I ate this crap while I was visiting somebody in the hospital. At least I could’ve walked to the ER if I needed to. I should’ve trusted my gut instinct and gone to the fried chicken place next-door.

We tried this place based on a friend’s recommendation, it did not disappoint and is now our favorite place to order Chinese! We ordered off the lunch menu and got sweet and sour chicken, fried rice, new general chicken, white rice, and two huge egg rolls for $ 12.00! The new general chicken had great flavor and was my favorite item we got. It had a little spice and great sesame flavor. I do wish there would have been more veggies as it only came with only a few carrots and pieces of broccoli, but I will still order this again. The sweet and sour chicken sauce is served on the side. I always prefer this as sometimes the sauce is too sweet and overpowers the dish. The fried rice had large pieces of grilled pork, yum! Next time I’m going to try the Szechuan chicken and pot stickers, can’t wait!

Been going here since I was a kid. Definitely the best authentic Chinese food in the area, made per order and not expensive. The Szechuan chicken is the best!

This is a great find for Downers Grove. Great tasting food for a reasonable price. Big portions! Be sure to try the Hong Kong Eggrolls.

Normally their food is fair for a takeout. Two days ago we ordered shrimp egg foo yung(sp?) and beef chop suey. When I looked at it in the container the shrimp egg foo ect looked dark. Sure enough I tasted it and it was burnt. That I tasted the beef chop suey and it was burnt to. And I’m not being it overly critical the rest of my family said that it tasted burnt. I was so upset I called the take out and spoke to the manager and told him. He was very nice and was surprised. He tried to offer me coupon to come back and I said that’s not why I called I did not call for money more food I wanted him to know that it tasted burnt. He said he was going to talk to the employees. So I would not go to this place. Not for a while at least. I hope they resolve this because their food used to be ok and they are close to where we live. Also we like to Support small businesses. But when your food is burnt have to say something. Ps. I didn’t proofread or spellcheck.

We have been a customer of Hong Kong well for over 10yrs. They do have the best egg rolls up until 8÷15÷2015. Could not even eat ½. It was mushing inside. Not up to original standards Three people got sick from order. Very disappointed for amount of money we spent.

I lived in Downers Grove for the first 24 years of my life, and never ventured into Hong Kong Carry Out. Today I tried HK based on a friend’s recommendation and the meal was excellent. It was so good, I’m mad at myself for wasting 24 years on other chinese food! We have the chicken fried rice, vegetarian egg rolls and cashew chicken. All three were very flavorful, and didn’t leave me with the normal greasy/heavy feeling from Chinese food. I will definitely come here again!

All I have to say is that these egg rolls are the best in Chicagoland.

You get a ton of food for a great price. The lobster wasn’t chewy and perfectly cooked in the stew type of dish with onion and vegetables. The sesame chicken was great not too sweet or tart but just right. The egg rolls are huge! Very very greasey but huge! We enjoy our take out from here.

NOTICE: IFYOUDONOTREACTWELLTOMSG, AVOIDATALLCOSTS This place is great for takeout. For a decent price, you get large portions and fresh ingredients. It all tastes great too! A young guy answers the phone, takes orders, and mans the register. He’s a bit apathetic, but then again, what teen at a restaurant isn’t? I loved my food, it was wonderful — there were full baby shrimp inside of the wontons in my wonton soup, and big pieces of beef. I asked specifically for just broccoli with my dish(not mixed vegetables) and got exactly what I wanted. However… This restaurant, for better or for worse, heavvilllyyy relies on MSG. If you’re prone to adverse reactions, please steer clear. Very very clear. I was sick for two days, unable to leave bed for 24 hours, lucky to have someone there to take care of me. Not everyone is affected by MSG, and everyone to different levels. I wish I knew ahead of time, because while the food was great, feeling so sick afterwards sort of nullified the benefits.

Look, I am not saying that this strip-mall carryout shop is the finest of the fine, but this is for sure a five-star carryout. Servings are ridiculously large, and after going there several times we have managed to tune our orders. I don’t know if they have a signature dish that I am missing, but when I do carryout I am usually looking for an old, reliable meal. This is it, my comfort carryout location. The pot stickers and egg rolls are not to be skipped. Again, a rare five-star review for turning me into a regular.

It was my birthday. I got to choose anything I wanted. And I wanted Chinese food. So my wife was nice enough to run over to Hong Kong Carry Out to pick some up for us and it was good. These were some of the most generous portions I’ve seen in awhile. The egg rolls were super-stuffed and very tasty. The pot stickers were nicely seasoned and had great texture. And the lo mein had the most impressive meat-to-noodle ratio I’ve ever seen. There almost weren’t enough noodles. That’s how generous they were. Same with the chicken curry dish my wife ordered. At our old place, you got enough meat to get through about half the dish. Then it was all onions or pea pods or whatever. Not here. This was great, and will probably be our new go-to carry out place. Looking forward to our next order!

Our family ordered from here again and I am very happy with the food. In addition to the kick-ass eggrolls and wonton soup, they also have fantastic and huge handmade potstickers! We also got the moo shu chicken. It doesn’t have the heavy plum sauce but a lighter spicier version that is different but good.

This is the best Chinese food that I’ve come across in Chicago. The large portion is just that — HUGE! Both my husband & I can eat a full meal from a large portion. The won ton soup was good, but wasn’t what I was expecting; it had pork & small shrimp in each of the dumplings. It was tasty, but not something I would crave again. The veggie egg rolls, on the other hand, are extremely addictive. I could eat a meal’s worth of them. They make their own sweet sauce for dipping, which is fantastic. I am a creature of habit, and always order General Tso’s Chicken. I am so hooked on their version of it, I feel like I have to order take out from this place at least once a week. The first time we ordered from this place, I was nervous once I arrived to pick up the food. It was either going to be a fantastic find(which thank goodness, it was) or a terrible mistake. BUT it’s take out only, so who cares what it looks like inside :) I highly reccommend it — cheap food and top notch quality. We ordered 2 large dinners, 2 orders of egg/veggie rolls and soup for $ 25. We had enough leftovers for a complete meal the next day.

This is the real deal – authentic, delicious, good quality and quantity, without the inquiry of «if you want to supersize!» The place has a humble storefront but that is the way most hidden gems are. The owners are socially responsible people, they felt the need to maintain reasonable pricing when the whole world seems to be charging a whole lot more for the same food nowadays!!! For the reviewers who don’t like their food or have issues with their orders, it has been my experience that the owners gladly accommodate every single time. They are honest, friendly folks and customer satisfaction seems to be something these people care for! This is quite impressive for a small scaled Chinese fast food place. I’ve had a lot of Chinese take out, esp. from my CA days, and I stop by every time I am in town. I ordered Beef Ho Fun and Almond Duck every time. Well prep ducks spiced to perfection are hard to come by and yes, there is another restaurant only 5 min down the road in downtown Bethesda and I’ve missed my Peking ducks in Palo Alto, CA but the taste of their ducks are far more superior!(I stand by my Thumbs up) ;)

This really is the best Chinese carry-out in the area. Fresh and fast, flavors are great! Be sure to ask for no MSG, as foods are automatically prepared with it.

A friend of mine told me about this place not too long ago, and since my fiancé forgot to take our ground beef out of the freezer, this was our go-to for dinner last night. I regret nothing. This place is a triple threat: cheap, delicious and addictive. Sure, the inside looks like a run-down office and it could use a sprucing up, but you won’t be sorry you came here. I highly recommend the potstickers. If you’re a dumpling fiend, you’ll have a new appreciation for handmade, dumpling-y goodness. You get 8 — count ‘em, 8 — outrageously large potstickers stuffed FULL of meaty goodness. Fiancé got the sweet and sour chicken; super crispy chicken! I got the szechwan chicken… again, awesome. And it barely cost us $ 20 for two entrees and a massive appetizer.

Just have their Mongolian beef yesterday for dinner. It was yummy! Lots of beef!!! Te sauce is not too spicy but a little bit sweet. If you like, you can moderate it to be extra spicy. And btw, the business hours on Unilocal.com for hong kong carry out is completely wrong. They open: Tuesday– Saturday: 11:00 am – 9:30pm Sunday: 3:00pm– 9:00pm

The best-tasting, best value Chinese food in the western ‘burbs. Get over the unpleasant-looking strip mall and the underwhelming aesthetics and get to the food. I have turned people form the city(Chicago) on to Hong Kong Carryout and some now make this THEIR Chinese place. Note: No matter what, the person who answers the phone will say it takes 20 minutes to prepare your food. It is always ready in 11 minutes.
