If your looking for a place to get a good pub style meal, at very reasonable prices, this is your place. Have been several times over the last year, it’s never crowded, and if you go during Happy Hour, you’ll be amazed at how inexpensive the beer and appetizer prices are. I have had the Turkey Tips(outstanding), Shepard Pie(good), Chicken Fingers(very good), and Chicken Parmesan(good). As far as the«rooftop deck» goes, if you enjoy climbing an endless amount of steps, and sitting in the middle of a hot roof, with rooftop air conditioners around you, then you’ll love it.

This wasy third visit here. The food was good… But not waiting an hour for potato skins good. The drinks are good… But not having to go find your wait staff good. It is prime time during football Sunday and you have one persons cleaning and serving the 2 floors and one bartender. The poor girls didn’t stand a chance!

First time in. Service was excellent. Bartender knew beers on tap. Food was very good. Will visit again. Kim has hit a homerun!

I really like this place. Great place to get drinks especially in the Summer. The rooftop has awesome panoramic views of downtown. The bartenders and waitstaff are friendly and efficient and the happy hour specials are a deal.

Had high hopes for this restaurant but was sorely disappointed when I went there tonight with my family. We walked in and were not greeted by a hostess. I figured this meant we should pick an open seat, which we did. After about five minutes the bar tender came by and said she would take our order soon. After another ten minutes we looked around and noticed none of the tables had food. Very strange. Feeling as though it was unlikely we would be eating anytime soon, we decided to leave. Maybe I will return someday and try to get some food.

The Thompson Tavern is a relatively new addition to downtown Dover as I think they opened right around the new year. They are located where the Spaghetti Stain used to be, and is a great new place in town. I have been there a few times and they have a real good beer selection and their food is really good as well. I have tried the Chicken Salad Club which was perfect. I like my chicken salad with not a lot of mayo and this was made just how I like it. I have also tried the Tavern Dip which you could tell was made with in house prime rib and the au jus was really delicious. The fried pickles are a good change from the normal dill pickles that a lot of places use. The sweetness of the bread and butter pickles really made a difference when fried. And the dipping sauce served with the Panko Green Beans was tasty and complimented the beans perfectly. Like I stated, this is a great new addition to downtown Dover. They recently opened their roof deck which is so nice for some drinks in the summertime. They also have a few promotions during the week with happy hour specials, trivia night(Thursday) & poker night(Tuesday). Go check it out, you won’t be disappointed.
