Modern Salon

Went to Melanie first and then tried to get another appointment and she offered me months away. She’s that important, I don’t think so! What about another stylist? She could care less about keeping clients.

Modern Salon, specifically the owner Melanie, is incredible! I went in today a wreck (okay, a hair wreck) and walked out feeling beautiful. She took the time to undertsand my wants and needs and offered options and her opinion. The quality of Melanie’s work is well beyond anything I have ever experienced in a stylist/​colorist. I highly recommend Modern Salon!

I’m still relatively new in town, but when I met Ryan last fall, I was pretty darn sure that I’d found a stylist. And yes! She’s fantastic. She is a great listener and always talks me through not only the style that I want, but what will be necessary to make it look good at home. I don’t think a stylist has ever asked me about my typical hair routines or sussed out whether a new cut would actually work in my life before cutting my hair (e.g. «can you actually make time to round-​brush in the morning? because it won’t look like this if you can’t»). I appreciate that.
Modern Salon is a calming, reasonable environment, too. Everyone is kind and welcoming, and I’ve never felt pushed into buying additional products or services — although I can always get recommendations if I want them.

I had an incredibly positive experience here. My appointment was at the end of the day at 5:30. I arrived after finally finding the place (it’s a bit hidden from the main road — it’s in downtown dover but in the basement of a building across the street from where Oriential Delight is, before orange leaf and the river). Your best bet is to use the street parking along that stretch of road — there are meters on the left and right and easy pay stations to use that accept cash and credit cards).
Anyway, I arrived and I was the only one there, so I instantly felt special! Angela really listened to what I wanted and gave me options to choose from. She was so friendly and helpful, and even offered me free wine to enjoy while I relaxed. My hair is long so the coloring process took awhile, but I barely noticed the time because we were chatting away. She gave me a great haircut afterwards too, and I am so happy with the color results. I’ve gotten so many compliments from coworkers and friends.

Love it! My husband, daughter and I been getting our hair done with Ryan for the past 7 years, she is amazing, very professional and responsible and always takes the time very patiently to listen what we want to achieve (haircut or highlights) I really recommend her. The Salon is also very quiet and has a very relaxing atmosphere.

This was my first visit to Melanie at Modern Salon, and I will most definitely be going back! She was able to do exactly what I asked for, and even gave me tips on how to style it at home in a super easy way. The salon is comfortable and quiet, and Melanie is super hospitable! The prices are great too. Melanie is friendly, funny, and most of all, talented! Definitely recommend for anyone looking for an awesome haircut for a good price in Dover :)

I just moved to the area and was nervous about going to a new stylist. I looked up salons in the area with good reviews. I was able to get an appointment that day with Ryan. WOW. I showed her a picture described my typical styling and she described what she was going to do. I have never felt so at ease with a stylist before! The hair cut was phenomenal (one of my favorites ever!) and she was awesome to chat with during the entire appointment! I HIGHLY recommend Modern Salon and especially Ryan! Thank you so much! Very excited to go back!

I loved the service and the atmosphere. It was a quiet salon which I preferred. I don’t get my hair cut very often, but when I do go it usually ends in dissapointment. I told the stylist what I wanted and she did exactly that if not better. I was very pleased with the service and definetly would reccomend this salon.
