Came in for dinner and drinks with some colleagues. It was a Tuesday night and the place was pretty busy. Our wait wasn’t terribly long(~10−15 minutes) and we were able to get a round of drinks at the bar. There were a number of things that caught my eye on the menu, but since I was on the coast I just had to go for the Crab Cake Sandwich with fries. I was glad I did, because it was delicious! The only problem was that the parking lot is relatively small and while I pulled up just as someone was leaving, I could see people running into a problem finding a spot. Overall, I will definitely come back the next time I am in Dover.

This place was pretty damn tasty! I ordered the organic burger and it was truly delicious. The meat was perfection. The onions were cooked in a sauce that tasted like A1 sauce. It was yummy, but just keep that in mind. My friend ordered the«all you can eat shrimp» which was a good deal at $ 12.99. Each plate had like 10 shrimp so after ordering 3 plates you get your moneys worth. We also ordered some fries to share and they were seriously fresh and tasty. Good honey mustard too. I tasted my friends crab dip and enjoyed that too. Plus the vodka sodas were nice and strong! The place was pretty packed at 9:30pm with a lot of what appeared to be college kids. We sat in the dining area, not the bar area. We attempted to get a table by the bar, but no one served us. After waiting a solid 15 mins we just went to the dining area.

First let me say — before I even begin this review — that we informed the manager of these issues and he immediately comp’d our meal — to go. So it’s resolved. BUT I want the staff to see this review and remember it. You all should be ashamed of yourselves. We called a few minutes before we arrived to see if there was a wait — the hostess told us we were good to go and we made a reservation. She said a table would be waiting for us. When we arrived, she said our table wasn’t ready and it would be 15 minutes. Hmm. That sucked. Why would you tell us five minutes before that there was no wait? So we went to the bar where we ordered a few drinks. No problems there, aside from some discarded popcorn bowls on the windowsill that hadn’t been collected. When we were seated — about 15 minutes later — our table was in the front end of the bar. As soon as we sat down the waitress took our drink order. And then we looked up. Two TVs were directly above us facing out toward the bar. We could clearly see a thick layer of dust on the back of the TV directly above our table. Yuck. Both of us lost our appetites at that point. When our waitress came back, we showed her the TV and her reaction was, «Yeah, they must have missed that in their deep cleaning… I guess it’s just a little extra seasoning for your food…» Ummm. What?!? We ordered a cup of soup and a small salad so that the trip from home wasn’t wasted, and she took our order. Afterward, we asked a passing busboy to find the manager. He was at our table in an instant — he took one look at the back of the TV and apologized — he said he had no excuse — and comp’d our meals. We asked him to make them carry out — we didn’t want to sit under those TVs and eat. While we waited, we watched the staff of McGlynn’s walk around. Now this is the part you employees should hear. The floor behind the bar in front of the rest rooms was filthy. A few straw wrappers were on the floor, and a receipt — in stark contrast to the darker tile. In the time it took for our now takeout order to arrive, no less than 10 McGlynn’s employees walked past or over the obvious trash on the floor. Maybe you don’t care if the place looks like crap, but people who know restaurants know the cleanliness of the front house reflects that of the back of the house — the kitchen. If that’s the case, I can only imagine what the kitchen looks like. When we mentioned the staff’s clear disregard for the trash to the manager, he grabbed a broom and dustpan and started sweeping it up. He should not have to do that. You — the staff — should have enough pride in your workplace to pick up garbage off the floor, not walk over it. We’ve been to McGlynn’s many times, and we’ve been seated all throughout the restaurant. This is by far the worst state the restaurant has been in. It’s obvious to us that you — the staff — has ceased to care. I’m sad — this was a place we liked to come. We’ll think twice about stopping by again.

3 stars for NOISE. 5 for everything else. I love the service, the view and the menu — I had the best blue cheese burger I’ve ever eaten at McGlynn’s! BUT the noise from the bar is ridiculous! All they’d have to do is put plexiglass up in a few places and it would totally change the atmosphere and solve the problem. If you’re sensitive to noise do not eat in the area adjacent to the bar. My fiancée and I try to only come here when we can get a table outside or when the bar isn’t crowed which is rare. I know most places make a lot of $ from the bar but I hate not being able to have a conversation when I’m having a meal.

The broiled crab cake and half rack of ribs sure sounded good on the menu. But in reality I had a crab cake with too much shell in it, ribs that were smothered in sauce and barely lukewarm, baked beans from a can and the best part was the coleslaw. Interestingly this place is on a lake and yet their outdoor seating is a porch that faces the parking lot.

I went for the first time for dinner on a week night so I didn’t really go when it was busy or filled with big drinkers. Our waiter was the best waiter I have ever had. Just totally attentive and made suggestions as we weren’t sure what to have We had clam chowder, chicken Caesar salad, quesadilla and salted caramel cake. It was a wonderful experience. A little pricey for what we had it can to almost fifty bucks but we also had coffee a soda and a margerita. I had been there before years ago for a happy hour which I didn’t enjoy it was just too loud for me. But maybe some people like that. The quieter dinner was more my style. We will be back.

Let me first start off by saying. You are planning on eating hear, try getting a table outside or all the way in the back of the Restaurant so you can get a great view of the River. I came hear to eat after the Nascar race at the Monster mile. Desided it was close by. When I arrived I thought the outside was nice and the river was right there. When walking in got seated asap, and that is when most seem to fall apart. The service was downright horrible, I had to ask someone that works there if they would take my order. I waited 25 min to be served, when the server came over, he told me he’s sorry, out drinking to much last night, I kinda didn’t have no words for that, when he told me. So I then got a soda, order my appetizer, fried pickle, and for an entrée, I ordered a half rack of ribs with coleslaw and french fries, first off I always thought that appetizer came out before the entrée, we’ll in my case the entrée came out first, and the server tells me he will be back with the appetizer, I told him forget it I don’t want it, When it comes to my food. It was delicious, ribs and fries done perfect and coleslaw some of the best I’ve had. So no complaints when it comes to the food. I just wish they had much better service. The prices are average like any other restaurants u are planning on getting a dinner at. Would I come back again? I don’t know. Service needs to get better then mabe I’ll think about it.

There really aren’t words for this place, but for a convenient headline let’s just go with«AMAZING!» On a business trip to Dover, DE and stopped here for lunch with five of my coworkers. On Mondays, this place has«half off appetizers» all day. Between all of us, I think we sampled 80% that portion of the menu; boneless buffalo wings, calamari, two kinds of flatbread pizza, ribs, pretzel and mustard dips, nachos, and sliders. I’ll say the sliders were the least impressive, but don’t let that steer you away because the bar for quality here is exceptionally high. The buffalo wings have bite, the nachos are stacked high, the mustard dips are local and spiced to perfection, and the pulled pork is slow cooked for two days. The place itself has a nice old country/colony vibe, sitting on a lake. We sat at the bar, service was quick and exceptionally friendly. She was also the bartender and her suggestions were spot on!
