ER is horrible. Even with it practically empty it took over an hour for someone to come in the room. The ER Doctor was a pompous ass. He did not listen and said my son looked fine although he was suffering from a migraine. Ordered meds that didn’t work well and said since pain was down to a 5 he could leave. We even told him the meds that worked at MMHER but he didn’t care. Will not return here. Milford ER was much much better, their docs actually give a shit. Stay away from Kent general hospital ER.

Both Cindy and I have been using Kent General’s outpatient services and have been very pleased with their service and with all the folks that work here. Recently, Cindy had a knee replacement done here and we both agree that their level of care was outstanding. From the admissions to the patient liaison, to pre-op, to surgical staff, to recovery, to the caring staff on 2B, and the visits from therapy… everybody was friendly, supportive and efficient. Cindy had another similar hospital stay 6 or 7 years ago in Milford and that was more than a little difficult. We both agree that this stay at Dover’s Bay Health was so much better.

My father-in-law was hospitalized a few months ago and spent almost two weeks here on the cardiac floor. His nurses(all shifts) were amazing. Super friendly, took time to answer all kinds of questions for us, kept him laughing in between visits from his family. The entire experience at the hospital was fantastic. Each and every person we had contact with here was great, from the doctors, nurses, food service workers, housekeeping staff, front desk, cafeteria workers etc. On our last trip there walking back to the self parking garage elevators, I noticed an insignia on the wall that stated Bayhealth was part of the University of Pennsylvania Hospital Group. I lived most of my life in Philly and have had only great experiences with HUP so that explains it. Dover is lucky to have this hospital in their area. Based on our experience, I’d absolutely recommend it.

I love the new wing of the hospital. It includes a new emergency room area with beds for 40(vs. 26 previously). The new wing also includes an oncology area and I believe new operating rooms. The old ER area may be converted to an extra operating room — always a good idea. Some of the 3rd floor staff were exceptional as some just have a knack for making you feel more comfortable, while others do not. Some want to talk your head off while others do not. In any case, visiting hours are now 24 hours/day. This is to encourage support from family members which is always beneficial to the patient. Kudos to Bayhealth Medical Center for the beautiful expansion and great customer service.
