I literally come here at least once a week and place a to go order. There are a lot of options downtown to eat at and k always come here during my lunch break. Everything I have ever had here is always AMAZING. Their crab dip is so rich and delicious. I always get their crab and corn chowder and if I’m feeling really gluttonous I’ll get their insanely delicious maple bacon avocado BLT. Seriously it’s so good. The best bacon I’ve ever had anywhere. I love that that have a wide variety of beers on tap too, plus a lot of them are local beers. Which make it even better. I’ll probably go today to get lunch :)

My expectations when dining in Dover are not high so coming in I was not expecting much well not only did this place blow me away for dover but it is an exceptional restaurant. The menu is diverse and well priced. The short rib poutine starter was the best poutine I have had. The crab dip was loaded with real crab meat. The sirloin over baby spinach lunch special was incredible for the price. The portions are large and he service was great, I will definitely be back.

Great place! Great food! Burgers had great flavor, and the salad was wonderful! Would like the lights to be turned down a little-set the mood for dinner!

I’ve had the pleasure of frequenting this establishment on more than a few occasions, but I’m now getting more active on Unilocal.First to point out is how great the staff is. April is a fantastic bartender who provides good conversation and has solid knowledge about craft beer. She is the one that always takes care of me, but I’m confident the others there are just as qualified. The craft beer selection, in my hometown of Dover, is second to none. Go Wednesday nights when appetizers are half-price. The Bavarian pretzels with cheese dip is my go to every time.

Food was decent for Dover. I got the double decker nachos which wasn’t outstanding flavor wise but had the best toppings/cheese to chip ratio I’ve ever seen. This would be a great place to grab lunch for anyone that works in the area. Prices are reasonable especially with the serving sizes. My only complaint is the complete lack of customer attention when you walk in. It might have been an off day, but I stood at the entrance for over 5 minutes before anyone said a word to me. They didn’t seem to have a hostess and all the waitresses flew past me before I could ask to be seated.

I dine here one to two times a month. The food never disappoints. The service is hit or miss. Food keeps me coming back.

We randomly found this place on Unilocal and gave it a try. The food was great and all house made. Highly suggest both the Turkey burger and Black bean burger. The bartender, April, was super friendly and very knowledgeable about beer. The beers weren’t exactly cheap, but the selection was excellent and the food prices more than made up for it. We had an appetizer, 2 entrees and 4 beers for less than $ 40. Would absolutely stop in again.

Came in for lunch on a Tuesday(road tripping in the area) and were thoroughly satisfied with the whole experience. Good variety on the menu — pizza, sandwiches, burgers, lunch entrees/mains and appetizers. Broad beer selection(with tasting board /flight options) — as you’d expect at an Ale House! Excellent service from very friendly and efficient staff. Food was delicious and prepared quickly — we both had burgers, cooked to order(rare, medium, well done) and the fries were excellent(not shoestring — fat, crisp outside, soft centre). Bathrooms were clean and well provisioned. It was a lunch stop we thoroughly enjoyed! If we lived closer we would definitely be back!!!

Came here based on proximity to where I was going, and am surprised by the 3 ½ star review. The service was great, the beer selection top notch, and both my father’s burger and my sandwich were fantastic. If this place were in New York, they could charge double. I had the Alabama White BBQ Pork sandwich and couldn’t recommend it higher.

Been here twice in one week already. Great sandwiches for lunch. The spicy breaded chicken with buffalo sauce and blue cheese packed a punch and the slab of chicken was HUGE. Fries are also crispy and breaded and delish — I’m a big fan of the creamy garlic ranch dip that comes out with them. Also got the Notorious P.I.G. mac & cheese, which was proper gastropub food. Way better than I was expecting and really blew me away in terms of flavor and presentation. Crockpot heaping full of piping hot macaroni noodles covered with crispy bread crumbs toasted to a nice brown. Inside, three kinds of pork, pork confit, bacon and ham, mixed throughout cheesy goodness. I definitely plan to go back and take any guests here, working our way through the menu.

Good stuff! Not much is really open in this part of town, so I decided to try this place. I was pleasantly surprised. The staff was friendly and helpful with the menu. The food came out quickly. And don’t miss the dessert! Started with the salmon appetizer plate. Tasty and good to share so you don’t fill up on crackers… Then had the scallops. Perfect portion size. Cooked well and maybe a tad over what I would prefer but it was good none the less. I would have this again. As I looked around, the portion sizes of the other meals were humongous… But looked good… The dessert. Such choices. Salted vanilla crunch cake? Yes. Again? Yes! Nothing left… And if I could lick the plate… Ok yes… I would! I would come back… Even if I was full… Just for dessert!

We really enjoyed this place. The waitress was great, beer was well done, and the food was reasonably good. Our biggest complaint was that the hostess was TERRIBLE. She had no personality(didn’t smile the entire time we were there). Didn’t give us a bar menu, so we didn’t know what beers they had available. They need to get rid of her right a way.

The food is quite good and the selection of beers quite long. The service is great with friendly servers happy to make recommendations. The last time we were here was the week before Valentine’s Day. We made a reservation, but it probably wasn’t necessary as it wasn’t as crowded as normal. There is live music at times which you can check on their website. My only wish would be that they change the menu items more often and that the chef not come out with food stains all over his apron. Sort of a turnoff…

I decided to try this place based on Unilocal reviews. The interior is rather cafeteria-like, with very little character. After seating myself, my waitress appeared and was very upbeat and friendly. She suggested a beer which was quite tasty. I ordered the West 33 Burger. It arrived quickly and was actually terrific, as were my fries. I was not rushed and I was able to do a little web browsing on my phone without being directed to the exit. The food was good, the atmosphere not so much.

There must be some Dover restaurant rule that you can get good beer in a place that has a name divisible by 11.(See Restaurant 55) Have only sat at bar. Food is hit or miss, hence one less star but beer and service, my favorite two things, are up to my high standards.

An Ale House in Dover, Delaware suggested by your 22 year old college student daughter isn’t necessarily a recipe for success, but I was so, so very wrong. When my two younger daughters, both Wesley College students took me to 33 West Ale House and Grill, I was game. I haven’t been to a college bar in years. 33 West was that and so much more. A small dining room featuring a large picture window is in the front of the restaurant. Behind that, a long and bustling bar run up the left side with tables along the right and a couple high tops in the back. New carpet in front of the house is needed, a large ugly stain greets you from the front door. We started with a couple items off the starter menu — delicious chicken Spring Rolls, crispy and just a little spicy(two cut on the bias served with a wonderful dipping sauce) and one of the most amazing things I’ve ever eaten anywhere — Fried Brussel Sprouts. Oh now, don’t judge me. These were an amazing mix of Brussel sprouts, bacon, julienne apple, some kind of nuts or seeds(pine nuts?), and a sauce I can only describe as heavenly. They serve that on a bed of iceberg and spinach leaves. I may order only that the next time I visit — and there WILL be a next time. Soon! Daughter one had the Cheesy Caprese — lean prosciutto grilled on a panini press. Served with a side(she chose the kitchen made pasta salad); she took half of the sandwich home. Daughter two chose the homemade chicken salad — very basic with just chicken, mayo, basil and a mild spice we couldn’t identify. Available on white, wheat, multigrain, kaiser or as a wrap, daughter chose wrap. I couldn’t pass up the 33 West signature burger as it was half price. Basic but tasty 8 Oz Angus, choice of cheese(cheddar), lettuce, tomato, dill pickle slices and a side order of fries, pasta salad, potato salad or cole slaw. The burger was substantial and cooked perfectly, but would have benefitted from a little seasoning. The side order daughter two and I chose was the only miss. Homemade potato salad with a lovely dill/mayo sauce, the salad would have been amazing except the potatoes were barely cooked. Not«firm» or «Al dente», these actually crunched like a raw potato. I can’t believe no one in the kitchen tried them before serving them. No problem. Our wonderful server Kati(or «Red, depending on what color it is this week») cheerfully replaced them with some tasty French fries. While the girls drank water, I tried the most amazing craft beer — Dogfish Raison D’Etre. Amazing. Sadly it’s a draft only offering. At 18% alcohol and at $ 11 a glass, maybe that’s a good thing after all. Looking for something better than the same old chain joints while in Dover? You can do a LOT worse than 33 West…

We stopped for a light dinner on a weekend. Very awkward layout and ambiance here so we opted to sit at the bar and there was a strange barn-like Oder that was very noticeable when walking in. Service was decent, though not very welcoming. No smile, no greeting, just asked if we needed menus. Beer selection was good, wine selection was for low-end wines. Menu was robust enough with options, and the salad was flavorful, the shrimp in the salad were big and delicious. Dessert was just ok: we ordered lemon berry mascarpone and it seemed more like just plain cake. Not much flavor. Prices were moderate. As we left and walked past the outside kitchen windows, though, the kitchen at quick glance through the windows looked pretty dirty. I don’t think we will return. We have had better in this town.
