This is definitely a place worth stopping at. They tend to get pretty busy at night, so I recommend them more during lunch hours, but they are great, and one of the only places I’ve been to that actually seasons their chicken so the flavor is excellent. Everything we try is better than the last thing!

Yummy! Was so good the other night, went back for lunch today. Salsa has a great flavor with just the right amount of spice. Shredded beef chimichanga is delicious. Guacamole smooth and creamy. My new favorite place to eat!!!

Wasn’t my favorite food. Ordered a bean burrito with rice. Chips weren’t good and salsa was bland. I won’t be going back at all. Had to wait over 15 minutes for a hostess to realize there were people waiting to be seated.

Food at Monterrey is consistently excellent! Especially the sopa de pollo, the Mexican chicken soup. Service is fast and courteous. Try the queso as an appetizer! Simply wonderful. We always stop here on out way to Atlanta. Everything is freshly prepared and delicious.

Have been here a few times and each time we have had a good experience. The food is always cooked well, presented well and plentiful. The service is good, staff always helpful and friendly. The prices are very reasonable and you get good value for money. This is my fave Mexican restaurant in Douglasville and I look forward to dining here again.

The service here is awesome. Came in after work one night and definitely got 5 star service. Everyone was nice(including the manager on duty) and made sure all of my needs were met. Not to mention the food was delicious! The drinks(margarita in specific) were really good(and strong), and I would definitely order them again! Thank you Armando for being such an awesome server. I will be back!

It had been awhile since I’d eaten here, but I was craving Mexican food for Mother’s Day and my husband offered to get takeout. I asked for a chile relleno and a chicken tamale. The chicken tamale was pretty good. The chile relleno was NOT a chile relleno. It looked like the bottom of a bell pepper that someone had filled with some indeterminate cheesy goo. A chile relleno is a roasted poblano chile, stuffed with melted cheese(and sometimes meat), battered or coated in flour and fried. I don’t know if they were out or what, but I sure would’ve rather had the option of getting something else than this pathetic they were attempting to pass off. Next time I’ll insist that he go to La Salsa; I’ve had their chile relleno more recently and it’s good.

This place can be off putting and you can easily drive by it, but I say one should stop and re-think before you do. I dont eat Mexican food nowadays on account that hubby is not a fan(seriously, why, right?) but I somehow convinced him to come here last week and it was a pleasant surprise. The food was really good. Probably, arguably one of the best Mex food I’ve had!(or maybe have i been deprived for so long?) The salsa was two thumbs up! Hubby is not a fan of cilantro(again, why!!!) and he really enjoyed the salsa here. I, on the other hand was tempted to request for some since I like cilantro. The chips were on the thinner side which how I prefer it anyway. I had the Carne Asado which was about $ 10, I most definitely love it! It’s steak chopped in small bits marinated in this awesome goodness and sear-fried. It comes with this sauce and it comes in three soft flour tortillas which was aplenty! It also came with a plate of Mex rice and re-fried beans. Nom Nom! I am getting hungry just thinking about it. Hubby had the dinner plate of Chimichangas with beef tips, sour cream, avocado, lettuce, rice and refried beans for also $ 10. And this one was also really good. I honestly think they season their meats differently here because although the concept and the re-fried beans and rice are standard, the actual meat inside the chimichanga and my carne asado is quite different from the Mex restaurants I’ve had before! And me likey! This place always print out buy one get one dinners during the week. I can’t remember where they usually advertise, but they’re around. I actually used one that was supposed to be in the Fairburn location so they just gave me a $ 5 discount instead. Still not bad. Service was fair and the food came out hot and quick. All in all, don’t judge this restaurant by it’s location and it’s outside appearance. However, I am weary about one of Unilocalers mentioning roaches? HHHUUU – WWWHHHAAATTT? I didnt see any when we visited and the place looked clean. *shudder — I sure will check out the FDA grading for them next time around! :P

Yall! Yall! Yall! *southern belle voice* I have been to this restaurant I am sure about five times to enjoy the family environment, food, and TEXASMARGARITAS that are no doubt to hitchhike for. However, I wanted to «expose» my good friend to the margaritas and was telling her where the restaurant was. She proceeded to tell me she knew all about the restaurant because her and her husband went to find roaches crawling on their table. I assured her that was a long time ago and it would be different this time. I WASWRONG!!! As I was teasing about roaches being in our salsa, two roaches decided to peep their heads on the bar where we were sitting. We called the bar tender and he reacted by grabbing a napkin to pick the roaches up only to drop them back on the bar and having to chase them down the bar. When he caught them he said«I am so sorry you all to see that.» So ummmmm if we had not seen it, it makes it alright? Needless to say we got our drinks free but I won’t be back.

As a SoCal native, I know mexican food and considering this IS Douglasville, this place isn’t that awful. Good sign #1 — Cholula on the table. Good sign #2 — decent ass salsa Good sign #3 — they actually have REAL chile rellanos(order the Poblano) I’m a fan though and will be back!
